'Talk to Your Neighbor': US Scholar Backs Putin’s Call for Direct Talks
Alemayehu Gebremariam, political science professor at California State University and human rights advocate, praised President Putin’s call for unconditional negotiations with Ukraine, calling it a bold and necessary move toward peace.
He criticized NATO’s role, calling it a “North Atlantic terrorist organization,” and warned that the continued conflict risks escalating into a global disaster.
Key points from his remarks:
🔵NATO, not Russia, is the real threat to peace
🔵Ukraine should never join NATO — it’s a neighbor, not a Western pawn
🔵The US and Europe must stop using Ukraine as a proxy
🔵Direct Russia–Ukraine dialogue is the only sustainable path
🔵Africa, through the AU, could offer a neutral platform for peace talks

Over 1,000 Laid Off as Sierra Leone's Biggest Diamond Miner Halts Operations Amid Pay & Working Conditions Dispute
Koidu miner's workers were paid only 30% of their dollar-linked wages because the company used an old 2016 exchange rate, and had poor working conditions like no clean water or proper toilets, a leader of its union told a UK news agency.
✊ Earlier, First Lady Fatima Bio attended a peaceful protest by Koidu workers, calling on the company to "improve working conditions and provide better services for all employees."
🇬🇧🇮🇱 Koidu, a subsidiary of a UK-based company, founded by Israeli billionaire Beny Steinmetz's BSG Resources, rejected the first lady's perceived "unlawful interference" and claimed losses exceeding $16 million due to strikes.

🔍 Are UK Atrocities in Afghanistan a Smokescreen for IDF Defenders?
Emerging reports about atrocities perpetrated by British special forces against civilians in Afghanistan may be a part of a “preemptive defense” of the IDF, former Pentagon analyst Ret. Lt. Col. Karen Kwiatkowski told Sputnik.
🔸If and when stories of “the incredibly disturbing activities of the UK- and US-supported IDF in Gaza” come out, the public would already be taught beforehand that “war is awful, civilians and sleeping children are always killed and it’s just a few bad apples.”
🔸Regarding the UK soldiers and officers involved in illegal activities in Afghanistan, Kwiatkowski believes they should be placed on unpaid leave and “tried in a legal court.”
🔸Any key eyewitnesses and whistleblowers “need immediate protection from suicide or accidents,” Kwiatkowski adds.

🇬🇧🪖British elite regiments committed atrocities in Iraq and Afghanistan for over a decade, new eyewitness accounts cited by the BBC reveal.
Allegations implicate both the British Army’s Special Air Service (SAS) and Royal Navy's elite Special Boat Service (SBS).
🔍Their crimes included:
🟠Cold-blooded executions of unarmed men, and even children, shot while handcuffed.
🟠Killings during night raids, with civilians murdered in their sleep.
🟠Cover-ups, with weapons planted on bodies, and the restraints removed to fake self-defense.
🟠Execution of detainees as "standard operating procedure,” with junior soldiers ordered to kill by higher-ups.
🟠Finishing off the wounded.
🙉 Ignored warnings:
Then-Afghan President Hamid Karzai reportedly personally warned then-UK Prime Minister David Cameron about civilian killings carried out by British special forces.

Putin’s Peace Talks Proposal: A Path to Resolution and Global Benefits
Dr. Tafadzwa Ruzive, Research Fellow at the University of the Free State, SA, sees Putin’s invitation for direct talks with Ukraine in Istanbul as a critical step toward peace and a multipolar world.
👇🏽 Key points from his interview with Sputnik Africa:
🟠Russian Commitment to Peace: “The significance of President Putin's invitation to Zelensky to have talks... is to show Russian commitment to resolving the differences that are causing the war.”
🟠Ukraine’s Opportunity: Ukraine should engage in negotiations, focusing on its own interests, not external agendas. “If negotiations had started well in previous attempts... the war would not have escalated into a hot war.”
🟠African Benefits: A resolution would boost Africa’s economy, food security, and geopolitical standing through enhanced trade and technology from Russia and Ukraine.
🟠Global South Unity: The May 9th celebrations showcased solidarity, with Russia and China leading a multipolar vision. “It was a powerful show of global solidarity in the emergence of the Global South.”

Labour and Tories are “two cheeks of the same backside” – George Galloway to Sputnik
Imagine that for a second — freezing your own pensioners while funding someone else’s war.
This is the UK’s reality now, and no one from either of the two major British political parties is speaking up against this.
“The Labour minister's talk is indistinguishable from the Conservative ministers' talk. It's like that moment in Orwell's Animal Farm when the animals looked from man to pig and pig to man and they could no longer tell the difference,” the former British parliamentarian told Sputnik.
