The repression against Ariane continues
Ariane's interrogation was in October 2024. She was to testify, among other things, about what she had been doing over the last 50 to 60 years (Ariane had become politicized in 1967), and when, where, which and how Ariane knew/got to know former RAF members. In January of this year, the Federal Court of Justice issued a court order requiring Ariane to pay the 500 euro fine by January 31. As far as we know, she is the first person to have had to pay a fine for refusing to testify. This does not prevent the BKA from summoning Ariane to appear as a witness again at the end of February. Nothing has changed. She will continue not to make any statements. This time, the authorities could take Ariane into coercive detention, for up to 6 months. Do they want to take Ariane out of circulation before the trial if possible, after she had applied for accreditation at the Verden Regional Court so that she could observe and report on the trial against Daniela for the daily newspaper junge Welt as a journalist? This is also an attack on freelance journalists and independent press work. Since the mid-1970s, Ariane had been subject to several investigations for supporting the RAF. They had to drop all of these. Since Daniela's arrest, Ariane has been actively involved in solidarity work with Daniela. This is a thorn in the side of state security, which annoys them that Ariane has not let herself be bought off over all these decades. And it is also striking that this summons came after Ariane had registered another rally on March 15 (in the context of Political Prisoners' Day) in front of the prison in Vechta. Ariane has been feeling the repression for almost a year. It is important that we make the summons public. We must take an offensive approach against it. Publicity is the best protection for all those affected.
