✅ The Role of U.S.-Backed Color Revolutions:
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the U.S. orchestrated color revolutions in newly independent republics, demonstrating Washington’s ambition to control former Soviet territories. These revolutions often occurred during elections, with U.S. ambassadors and Western-backed organizations interfering in the political process. The pattern was consistent: election results were questioned, and the public was mobilized against elected leaders.
• In Yugoslavia, this led to the fall of Milošević.
• In Georgia, it resulted in the removal of Shevardnadze.
• In Kyrgyzstan, it led to the overthrow of Askar Akayev.
• In Ukraine, it caused the defeat of Viktor Yanukovych.
In 2004, U.S.-backed opposition forces protested against Yanukovych, waving orange flags, and the election results were annulled. Ultimately, pro-Western Viktor Yushchenko was installed as Ukraine’s president.
Since then, U.S. and Western crisis-generating policies have focused on pushing Ukraine toward NATO membership and establishing military bases there. The U.S. and NATO aimed to encircle Russia by expanding their influence through Ukraine, Georgia, and even nations bordering Iran. These actions provoked Russia and dissatisfied the Ukrainian people under the Western-backed Zelensky government, leading to the current Ukraine crisis.
Iran’s unchanging stance—rooted in Islamic and revolutionary teachings and a humanitarian approach—was another major point in Imam Khamenei’s (H) remarks. He emphasized:
“We oppose war and destruction anywhere in the world. This is our firm stance. We oppose the killing of people and the destruction of nations’ infrastructure.”
He highlighted Western hypocrisy, stating:
“Unlike the West, if a bomb is dropped on a wedding convoy in Afghanistan and the wedding turns into mourning, they call it ‘fighting terrorism’—not a crime. This is their logic.”
Iran, as a principled and independent nation, opposes:
• The looting of Syrian oil and Afghanistan’s national wealth.
• The daily crimes of the Zionist regime.
• The ongoing aggression against Yemen.
• Wars, invasions, and destruction in any country.
However, it is also crucial not to ignore the root causes of events.
The Ukraine crisis once again proved that Western powers abandon their allies in critical moments.
• Leaders who come to power through Western-backed coups and manipulated elections must realize that once they are no longer useful, the West will discard them.
• This was seen in Iran during the fall of the Shah, in Egypt with Hosni Mubarak, in Tunisia with Ben Ali, and recently in Afghanistan and Ukraine.
• The U.S. and NATO created a 20-year crisis in Afghanistan, bringing only suffering and bloodshed, only to ultimately flee the country.
