Trump Wants to Abolish the 4th and 5th Amendments
Trump lied today, claiming that the Supreme Court was prohibiting him from "removing criminals from our country" who "came here illegally."
But most of the ones he has seized for deportation have been here LEGALLY, on student visas and in some cases Green Card permanent residences, and their only "crime" was to criticize Israel's actions in Gaza.
As to detaining them and deporting them without a trial, that is a protection afforded by the 4th and 5th Amendments of the Bill of Rights. He is trying to go around that by using an old "War Times" Act that was last used to lock up Japanese Americans in concentration camps here in the U.S. during WW II.
He's NOT rounding up many illegal undocumented migrants, because they are the ones working on our farms and in our factories.
Is this really what Americans want and voted for? To strip search teenage German girls and lock them away when they came on a valid tourist visa for a vacation in Hawaii?

Germany's Foreign Office later issued a reminder to citizens that even with an ESTA travel authorisation, entry into the United States is not guaranteed. Immigration officers retain full discretion at the border.
Their ordeal is not isolated. Canadian actress Jasmine Mooney, 35, was detained for nearly two weeks by US immigration officials in March after attempting to enter the US from Mexico. She claimed the experience was akin to being 'kidnapped' and held in 'cold and crowded' cells, describing the conditions as 'unjust' in an interview with ABC10.

"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven.
If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?"
Shortly after saying this, he put his teaching into action, with an encounter of a Roman military commander, Israel's enemy. This Roman officer came to Jesus and asked him to heal his servant, as he recognized the authority that Jesus had.
Jesus replied that he had never seen such faith among the Jews living in Israel, and he healed the commander's servant.
Jesus loved Israel's enemies, and he still does.

What we are witnessing is history repeating itself in real-time: the widening net that ensnares us all. In other words, it’s only a matter of time before anyone who is not fully compliant gets labeled a terrorist.

As long as anyone is sitting in shackles in a federal detention center simply for writing an op-ed, freedom of speech is not safe for anyone in the United States.

On March 25, six masked federal agents seized a Turkish graduate student on the streets of Somerville, Massachusetts. Rumeysa Ozturk—who was wearing a hijab—was a Fulbright scholar working on a doctorate at Tufts University. Ozturk was snatched up because she co-authored a student newspaper op-ed a year earlier that criticized Israel.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio denounced Ozturk as a “lunatic” and implied she was guilty of participating “in movements that vandalize universities, harass students, take over buildings, and cause chaos.” Ozturk was shuffled between detention facilities before being taken to Louisiana. A federal judge blocked the Trump administration’s attempt to deport her without any judicial proceedings.
On Sunday night, the Washington Post detonated the Trump case against Ozturk by publishing extracts from a confidential State Department memo. Prior to Ozturk being seized outside of Boston, senior DHS official Andre Watson sent a memo to the State Department stating that, “OZTURK engaged in anti-Israel activism… Specifically, [Ozturk] co-authored an op-ed article” that “called for Tufts to ‘disclose its investments and divest from companies with direct or indirect ties to Israel.’”
But the State Department found that no federal agency had turned up any evidence that Ozturk “engaged in antisemitic activity or made public statements indicating support for a terrorist organization.” Despite Rubio’s vilification of Ozturk, the feds didn’t have squat on her.
Because of her op-ed criticizing Israel, Ozturk vanished into the federal detention system, moved from state to state so the Trump administration could avoid a habeas petition in federal court challenging her detention.
She was forced to wear leg shackles and a chain around her waist. She has asthma and had several attacks so far in lockup.
At the South Louisiana ICE Processing Center in Basile, she sleeps with 23 other people in a cell meant for 14.
“None of us are able to sleep through the night. They come into the cell often and walk around triggering the fluorescent lights. They shout in the cell to wake up those who work in the kitchen around 3:30 am each day,” she said.
Ozturk stated that a federal officer told her: “We are not monsters. We do what the government tells us.” So, of course, federal officials are blameless for any rights that they violate.
It would be the height of folly for Americans to presume they face no peril from entitling the feds to seize boundless power to punish students’ speech.
Ozturk’s name was provided to the Trump administration by Betar—an organization that the Washington Post characterized as a “militant Zionist group.” US citizens are at risk as well.
A spokesman for Betar declared: “We provided hundreds of names to the Trump administration of visa holders and naturalized Middle Easterners and foreigners” who have criticized Israeli policies.
As long as anyone is sitting in shackles in a federal detention center simply for writing an op-ed, freedom of speech is not safe for anyone in the United States.

Because of her op-ed criticizing Israel, Ozturk vanished into the federal detention system, moved from state to state so the Trump administration could avoid a habeas petition in federal court challenging her detention.
She was forced to wear leg shackles and a chain around her waist. She has asthma and had several attacks so far in lockup.
At the South Louisiana ICE Processing Center in Basile, she sleeps with 23 other people in a cell meant for 14.
“None of us are able to sleep through the night. They come into the cell often and walk around triggering the fluorescent lights. They shout in the cell to wake up those who work in the kitchen around 3:30 am each day,” she said.
Ozturk stated that a federal officer told her: “We are not monsters. We do what the government tells us.” So, of course, federal officials are blameless for any rights that they violate.
It would be the height of folly for Americans to presume they face no peril from entitling the feds to seize boundless power to punish students’ speech.
Ozturk’s name was provided to the Trump administration by Betar—an organization that the Washington Post characterized as a “militant Zionist group.” US citizens are at risk as well.
A spokesman for Betar declared: “We provided hundreds of names to the Trump administration of visa holders and naturalized Middle Easterners and foreigners” who have criticized Israeli policies.
As long as anyone is sitting in shackles in a federal detention center simply for writing an op-ed, freedom of speech is not safe for anyone in the United States.

Mr. Bessent’s deputy, Michael Faulkender, will be the new acting leader, replacing Gary Shapley, the Treasury Department confirmed on Friday. Mr. Faulkender will be the third acting leader of the agency this week.
Mr. Bessent had complained to Mr. Trump this week that Mr. Musk had done an end run around him to get Mr. Shapley installed as the interim head of the I.R.S., even though the tax collection agency reports to Mr. Bessent.
The clash was the latest instance of Mr. Musk’s influence in the Trump administration alarming top officials. The feud between Mr. Musk and Mr. Bessent went public late Thursday night, when Mr. Musk elevated an attack from the far-right researcher Laura Loomer questioning Mr. Bessent’s pro-Trump bona fides.

Here we go. We now see that being a U.S. Citizen cannot protect you from Trump's ICE. This man's birth certificate was presented as evidence in court, but the judge said she did not have jurisdiction, even while acknowledging he was a U.S. citizen.

Leon judge says she was obliged to ignore his documented proof.
Juan Carlos Lopez-Gomez, a 20-year-old U.S. citizen, was being held in the Leon County Jail Thursday, charged with illegally entering Florida as an “unauthorized alien” — even as a supporter waved his U.S. birth certificate in court.
A Florida Highway Patrol trooper arrested Lopez-Gomez after a traffic stop in which he was a passenger. The 20-year-old is set to remain in jail for the next 48 hours, waiting for federal immigration officials to pick him up despite his first-degree misdemeanor charge being dropped.
His mother, Sebastiana Gomez-Perez, burst into tears at the sight of her son, who appeared virtually for his first hearing at the Leon County Courthouse. She left the courtroom distraught because she could do nothing to help her son, who was born and lives in Grady County, Georgia.
“I wanted to tell them, ‘Where are you going to take him? He is from here,'” his mother told the Phoenix in Spanish moments after exiting the courtroom. “I felt immense helplessness because I couldn’t do anything, and I am desperate to get my son out of there.”
She continued through tears: “It hurts so much. I’m sorry, I can’t.”
A lieutenant working in the Leon County Jail didn’t allow the mother to see Lopez-Gomez on Thursday and told her officials were working with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on how to proceed. A Phoenix reporter accompanied Gomez-Perez to the jail.
Leon County Judge LaShawn Riggans held Lopez-Gomez’s birth certificate up to the light after community advocate Silvia Alba silently waved the document in the courtroom.
“In looking at it, and feeling it, and holding it up to the light, the court can clearly see the watermark to show that this is indeed an authentic document,” Riggans said.
Based on her inspection of his birth certificate and Social Security card, Riggans said she found no probable cause for the charge. However, the state prosecutor insisted the court lacked jurisdiction over Lopez-Gomez’s release because U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement had formally asked the jail to hold him.
“This court does not have any jurisdiction other than what I’ve already done,” Riggans said.
Riggans said she was very sorry as Lopez-Gomez’s mother left.

A Non-Hopium Edition of today's news in what was a truly historic day.
The only place I am seeing near panic over today’s news is in the financial news that Wall Street investors subscribe to. Almost everyone now is predicting a recession, with others throwing journalistic caution to the wind and explaining that we could be seeing something on par to what happened in 1929.
I doubt that most Americans truly understand what we are now living through.
And the Trump supporters are still positive. I saw articles today in the Conservative Christian Media saying things like “TRUMP IS BRINGING DOWN THE DEEP STATE BANKERS!”, and other such positive spins on Trump’s actions.
They don’t mind if they lose their jobs and cannot put food on their table anymore, as long as they “trust the plan”.
They can't see that Trump IS THE DEEP STATE, and they are following him like sheep being led to the slaughter.
