In the latest beta of Gboard, you can enable a flag (root required) to simulate physical keyboard on your Android phone.

Flag - enable_pk_simulator

With and without key border... Looks ugly, but someone may find it useful.

Edit : You can enable similar UI (not exact) using the PC layout. You have to enable it in language settings of Gboard.
