Why is EVERYBODY talking about Adolescence?
For some reason I woke up this morning to a world – or a pretend media world, at least – obsessed with the Netflix show Adolescence.
I’m not going to link to it or describe the plot, because I’m not being pulled into this trap. I’m not talking about Adolescence, I’m talking about the people talking about it.
That might seem like a paper thin distinction, but it is an important one, in my mind at least.

UK MP’s call for digital identity to “tackle illegal immigration”
It turns out that the solution to illegal immigration is instituting a nationwide system of digital identity, issued to every baby at birth and containing all your social, education, financial, medical, and employment information.
At least, according to the 40 or so Labour MPs who co-signed an open letter calling for such a system.
Of course, that digital ID could solve the immigration “problem” should come as no surprise. After all, it can solve every “problem”.

Last night Donald Trump’s administration released two-thousand files, totaling over 60,000 pages, pertaining to the assassination of President John F Kennedy.
You can read them all here.
The files are in seemingly no order, with no index or search system, so combing through them will take a while.
The National Archive press release claims these are “all records previously withheld for classification”, but that’s then admit that’s not technically true [emphasis added]:

The UK’s Online Safety Act officially came into force two weeks ago, and they have wasted no time using it.
Alternative social media network Gab has already been threatened with a massive fine for its supposed failures to “police speech” on its platform. Anecdotes are piling up, small forums and communities blocking access from the UK for fear of attracting OfCom’s ire and the like.
But rest assured, an OfCom spokesperson promised the Telegraph they would “only take action where it is proportionate and appropriate”. So that’s alright.
