DAILY VOCABULARY
Some people argue that families who send their children to private schools should be exempt from paying taxes that fund public education. While this perspective may seem fair at first glance, I strongly disagree with this notion for several reasons.

Firstly, education is a public good that benefits society as a whole. Even if some families opt for private education, they still rely on the contributions of state-educated citizens, such as doctors, engineers, and public service workers. If only those who use public schools funded them, there would be significant financial strain, leading to a decline in the quality of education for millions of students.

Secondly, taxation is based on collective responsibility rather than personal benefit. For instance, people without children still contribute to education funding because an educated population leads to economic growth and social stability. Allowing exemptions would set a dangerous precedent where individuals demand tax reductions for public services they do not use, such as healthcare or infrastructure, weakening the entire system.

Lastly, private school students may still indirectly benefit from state education funding. Public schools contribute to teacher training, curriculum development, and educational research, which also influence private institutions. Moreover, if a private school student transfers to a public school or requires special educational services, they should have access to a well-funded system.

In conclusion, families who send their children to private schools should continue paying taxes that support public education. Doing so ensures equal opportunities for all children, upholds social responsibility, and sustains the long-term benefits of an educated society.

Zoos have long been a topic of debate, with some arguing they are essential for conservation and education, while others believe they are unethical and harmful to animals. Both perspectives have valid points, and this essay will discuss each view before presenting a personal opinion.

On the one hand, opponents of zoos claim that wild animals deserve to live in their natural habitats, not in confined spaces. They argue that zoos can cause stress and unnatural behavior in animals, as they are often kept in enclosures that are much smaller than their natural range. Moreover, some zoos prioritize entertainment over animal welfare, which raises ethical concerns. For example, animals may be trained to perform tricks or kept in unsuitable climates, leading to poor health and mental distress.

On the other hand, supporters of zoos believe they play a crucial role in conservation and education. Many endangered species are protected and even bred in captivity, helping to prevent extinction. Zoos also offer people, especially children, the opportunity to learn about wildlife and develop an appreciation for nature. In well-managed zoos, animals are cared for by professionals who understand their needs, and efforts are made to replicate their natural environment as closely as possible.

In my opinion, while some zoos do more harm than good, well-regulated zoos can be beneficial. If they focus on conservation, education, and animal welfare rather than profit, they can serve an important purpose. Strict guidelines and regular inspections should be enforced to ensure animals are treated with respect and kept in appropriate conditions.

In conclusion, although keeping wild animals in captivity can raise serious ethical issues, zoos can also contribute to the protection and understanding of wildlife. The key is to ensure that zoos are properly managed and genuinely focused on the animals' well-being.

☘️ Problem / Solution

Q: In many countries, schools have severe problems with student behaviour.
What do you think are the causes of this?
What solutions can you suggest?

💡 Answer:

In many parts of the world, student discipline is becoming a major issue that teachers, parents, and school administrators have to deal with. This essay will first look at the reasons why this is happening, and then explore solutions for it.

The primary reason for this increase in bad behaviour is the lack of respect for teachers in western society since the late twentieth century, which is partly due to the emphasis placed upon personal freedoms and individual rights. With massive cultural upheaval, the role of a teacher has diminished, and school pupils can run amok. Nowadays, teachers are powerless to stop their students from misbehaving in the classroom, and what is worse is that they are afraid of the consequences of being firm in their disciplinary procedures. When teachers are deemed to be too strict, parents will complain and it is possible that the teacher could lose their job.

In order to solve this, great changes will need to be made. For a start, a teacher’s authority needs to be established, and this means making changes that reduce the likelihood of their position being questioned. From misbehaving pupils to unreasonable parents, there needs to be support for the teacher from above. This sort of institutional help has been missing for decades as education becomes more of a service industry wherein “the customer” is always right. Schools need to implement firm but fair rules that all pupils must abide by and there should be equally firm but fair punishments meted out accordingly.

In conclusion, discipline problems are now common in many schools, and that is because teachers are no longer given the respect they are due. Schools and government authorities need to work to reinforce the importance of respecting teachers.

Museums have long played an important role in society by preserving culture, history, and knowledge. While some argue that museums should primarily serve as places of entertainment, others believe that their main function is to educate the public. Both perspectives hold merit and will be examined in this essay before offering a personal viewpoint.

On one hand, making museums enjoyable and entertaining can significantly increase public interest and attendance. Interactive exhibits, engaging activities, and immersive technology can transform traditional museums into dynamic spaces that attract people of all ages. When visitors are entertained, they are more likely to engage with the material and retain the information presented. This approach is especially effective for children and younger audiences, who may find conventional exhibitions dull and uninviting.

On the other hand, many believe that the fundamental role of museums is to educate. Museums serve as guardians of history, science, and art, offering the public access to valuable information and rare artifacts. Their purpose is to deepen understanding and foster appreciation of different cultures, events, and discoveries. Education-oriented museums ensure that visitors leave with greater knowledge and awareness, which is particularly important in a world that values lifelong learning.

In my opinion, the best museums successfully combine both elements. They should be designed in a way that entertains while also educating. Striking a balance between fun and informative experiences can make museums more inclusive and impactful, ensuring they remain relevant and valued by future generations.

☘️ Advanyages / Disadvantages

✅ Q: Some people think that young people should be required to do unpaid work helping people in the community. Are disadvantages of this requirement greater than the benefits for the community and individuals?

💡 Answer:

It is true that volunteer work provides great benefits for both participants and the community. However, forcing the youth to engage in those activities may be counterproductive, as now will be explained.

On the one hand, if young people were required to do social jobs for free, there would be certain advantages for all sides related. A vast majority of the younger population are energetic, dynamic and passionate about improving themselves, and it is the unpaid work that can satisfy that demand. Charitable campaigns such as teaching primary schoolchildren or helping the elderly with their daily activities provide the participants with not only new knowledge and skills, but also a sense of community and a belief that they are a pivotal part of societies. Vice versa, the government, with the assistance from young people, has a productive workforce available for charity work without wasting money on the recruitment process.

On the other hand, I believe that the disadvantages of this are more important. Working on a volunteer basis may distract young people from their priorities. For example, students of state universities and colleges are expected to attend lessons, complete homework and even consult external academic materials. With such a heavy workload, those students should spend their little remaining time relaxing or playing sports rather than joining free social activities. Regarding those who do not go to school, vocational or internship courses are what they should seek for. Professional skills from such classes are tools for these individuals to achieve a stable later life; therefore, the community should allow them to pursue their career.

In conclusion, the youth can choose to support others, and the volunteer work should never be made obligatory.
