Following the fuel oil spill in the Kerch Strait, 280 hectares of beaches need to be restored and about 840 thousand cubic meters of new sand need to be delivered there, said Russian Minister of Natural Resources Alexander Kozlov.
Fuel oil is currently being pumped out of the Volgoneft-239 tanker, which washed up on the shore of Taman. It is planned to be completed on January 31. However, the decision on how to raise the fuel oil from the bottom has not yet been made. In addition, it is necessary to decide what to do with the sunken parts of another tanker, which also contain fuel oil - they will either be raised or the oil products will be pumped out, it was reported at a meeting attended by the Russian president.
At the same time, as Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev said, no new large-scale emissions of fuel oil were recorded.
