Instead of worrying about Chinese auto exports Canada should open itself to Japanese auto exports. NAFTA is gone now so "chicken tax" ir irrelevant. American authorities want to keep their auto market closed, we don't have to. Canada should open it's doors to auto exports straight from Japan and Korea. Not the cars made for Canada or Made in America/Mexico variety of Japanese and Korean vehicles. Japanese and Korean vehicles made for Japan and Korea. There is a lot of no-frills bare bones high quality vehicles available to them which we cant have due to NAFTA. Now is the time to change these laws and start importing from Japan and Korea. Will the government do that? No. They cant even get rid of trade barriers between Maitoba and New Brunswick.
