We would like to announce the formation of The Wudufugol, a collection of heathen hiking clubs spreading across the United States and Canada.
We felt a need to form this club due to the perceived lack of any other group that shares our values and passions for deep ecology, naturalism, the pursuit of an active lifestyle and most importantly to authentically worship the holy Gods of our Forefathers.
Our name is a word play of the famous Wandervogel, as we wanted to honor that generation of forest pilgrims.
Wudufugol is old English for “forest bird” particularly a bird of prey.
This channel will both document our pilgrims into nature, our heathen siðr, as well as being a medium to network with like minded Heathens as we see fit.

Þunorheald (Thors hold) is the culmination of multiple dreams and bizarre experiences. A holystead to the Thunder, a hearg built from stone and a birch weoh carved in his likeness.
This site over looks the land, a rising outcrop, his fortress and hold.
My old site is converted to a place of ancestoral worship, closed off to all but close family.

Mistletoe was once called Donnerbesen in Germany, meaning Thunder Broom (thunder besom). The name is shared with a stylised form of brickwork that was incorporated into Saxony houses designed protect against lightning strikes. The church later renamed this pattern teufelbesen or ‘devil’s broom’. Grimm stated that a kenning for donnerbesen was alpruthe ‘elf-rod’ whilst alpgeschoss ‘elf-shot’ was a kenning for the thunderbolt, which is somewhat different to the Anglo-Saxon idea that elf shot were the tiny flakes of flint arrows known to cause cramps and other inflictions.

Here in the mountain towns, woodlands and deserts of the southwest, the sun brings vigor to our spring-seeded endeavors. Long days of sweat and toil soon approach. We plan a pilgrimage toward the mountains and rivers to the east, seeking refuge from the unforgiving summer heat. Blessed is our fatherland in all of it’s diversity and unique landscapes.
