This encampment is the first of its kind since the start of the Trump administration. Trump has vowed his unequivocal support for Israel’s genocide, most recently calling for the United States to ethnically cleanse and annex Gaza. Today, we say enough. It is unacceptable that our endowment and our tax payer money bankrolls the elimination of Palestinian life. As Israeli aggression obliterates Palestinian homes and guns down children in Jenin, as unspeakable suffering continues in Gaza, and as America slides farther into fascism every day, we ask – what type of institution does Bowdoin want to be?
We call our peers in the student movement to join us. Its time to escalate for Palestine. Long live the Student Intifada.

From @ucscsjp
SCENES FROM THE VIOLENT POLICE RAID CALLED IN BY UCSC ADMINISTRATION LAST NIGHT.
- An estimated 100 or more arrests were made against students, community members, and faculty.
- Bulldozers and trucks were brought out to clear the encampment. Police brutally ripped down Palestinian flags, art, and were even seen crushing body bags with flowers and the names of martyrs on them after uproar to not touch them.
- Students were hit and beaten with batons on their heads, slammed face down into the concrete, trampled over, pushed into, bruised, and more.
- Feminine presenting students reported police aiming at their chests and deliberately targeting them. Racial profiling occurred and racially discriminatory searches happened.
- A student was violently tackled to the ground into the concrete and police put a bag over their head while keeping them on the floor- restricting airflow and later causing the student to throw up and pass out. SHAMEFUL.

BESIEGE THE EMBASSIES.
A popular call is gaining traction, particularly to our people in Egypt, the Gulf, Algeria, Morocco, Iraq, Jordan, the Emirates, Bahrain, Turkey and to all the free people of the world everywhere.
The northern Gaza Strip is undergoing a genocide in every sense of the word, which has been allowed due to lack of action.
The least that can be done is the besiege the embassies of the enemy and complicit states. This is a simple ask. Head to the zionist embassy or consulate, the American embassies, German, French, and British embassies. Besiege them.
Share this post and the hashtags. Encourage action in all places. If not now, when?

Writers Against the War on Gaza, Healthcare Workers for Palestine, Palestinian Youth Movement:
On October 13, 2023, the Israeli occupation army ordered the evacuation of 22 hospitals in northern Gaza. Four days later, a missile exploded at Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza City. Nearly five hundred people, many of whom had been seeking shelter there, were martyred in the blast.
After early reports laid the blame for the explosion at Israel’s door, the IOF—with the full collaboration of the U.S. government—launched an aggressive campaign of finger-pointing and disinformation. Israeli and American officials spread tales about “Hamas tunnels” under the hospital and attempted to discredit the casualty figures.
As a direct result of this hasbara campaign, the @nytimes apologized for its initial reporting having cited the Gaza Ministry of Health. As a corrective, the paper published an op-ed by columnist Michelle Goldberg who brushed aside the idea that Israel was deliberately targeting Palestinian healthcare workers. She warned against “accepting incendiary claims of Israeli atrocities at face value” because it was “impossible… for outsiders to know what is happening in the… war between Israel and the Palestinians.”
That New York Times essay did its damage. And the forced debates, the competing visual and forensic investigations, worked to cast doubt. Doubt that would lay the blueprint for Israel’s bombing and wholesale destruction of hospitals over the year to follow, leading to today: Israel has bombed and either partially or wholly destroyed every single hospital in Gaza.
Three days ago, on October 14, Israel carried out its latest attack, this time at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir Al-Balah, where patients were burned alive. By now, there was no doubt about who the perpetrator was. But it didn’t matter—the subject was no longer deemed to be newsworthy.
Today, allow us instead to read the transcript issued by the Palestinian healthcare workers from that “press conference at the end of the world,” its transcript copied above. Dr. Ghassan Abu Sittah and his colleagues surrounded by the bodies, a man resting his head on the podium holding a martyred child, the dead, already shrouded, behind the hospital staff.
We won’t forget and we won’t forgive.

🟡 NOW: Students tried to barricade themselves in the Free University of Berlin, threatening to destroy the server room if police entered the building. They demanded an immediate end to the deep-seated relationship between the university and the State of Israel, among other things.
However, several university staff remained in the building alongside the Palestine solidarity activists. As the police arrived quickly, ready to crack down, they escaped the building. None of the occupiers remain in the building, and police have already made several arrests.
The attempted occupation follows last summer’s takeover at Humboldt University Berlin, where protesters tried to negotiate their demands with university authorities.
A statement released by the occupiers declares, “The time for begging for justice from the University is over.”

📍NYC
Last Sunday, the NYPD shot Derrell Mickles and three others after Mickles entered the platform through the emergency exit at the Sutter Ave. station in Brownsville—committing a mass shooting in one of New York City’s poorest neighborhoods. In response, yesterday night hundreds of city residents conducted a mass fare evasion at the West 4th station, hopping the turnstiles to say clearly that no one should be killed for not having $2.90, that in fact the subway should be free—and free of cops.
As dozens streamed through the gates, onto the platforms, and into the different subway cars, cops brutalized and arrested those few they could get their hands on. The people are undeterred and are committed to maintaining this form of mass action in the weeks to come.
Our cities are under occupation: cop training facilities are flourishing all across America—we have one in our backyard near College Point, Queens.
Live free, ride free, fuck the NYPD.

🚨🚨 REVOLT FOR RAFAH:
Join Palestinian students, supported by the wider community at Columbia, at a the new Gaza Solidarity Encampment. We are outraged by Columbia’s complicity in the killing of our people in Gaza, and most recently the massacre in Rafah. We are equally outraged by Columbia’s use of brute force and their capitulation to the Billionaire’s lobby, instead of to the “safety of the students”. We will resist, until Columbia divests.
The action will coincide with Columbia’s Alumni Reunion. We want to make it clear to Columbia Alumni to cease donating to Columbia until they meet our demands.
This will be an action of community building and political education. Programming will include teach-ins, film screenings, art builds, open mics and talks with Palestinians in Gaza and Palestine. Food and cold refreshments will be available.
Until Palestine is free, from the river to the sea.
