Jordan and Lebanon arrest suspects linked to rocket, drone launches and weapons trafficking.

On 15 April, Jordan announced the arrest of 16 people accused of belonging to a “terrorist cell” plotting an attack that “threatened national security.” Authorities say the group recruited and trained operatives in Jordan and Lebanon. The suspects are reportedly linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, whose party holds the largest bloc in parliament. While officials claim the target was the kingdom, documents shared online suggest the aim was to strike Israel, with weapons bound for the West Bank.

Yesterday, the Lebanese army announced the arrest of several individuals allegedly involved in rocket launches at Israel. Raids were carried out across Lebanon to seize equipment. According to Al Akhbar, over 30 people were arrested since March, some linked to Hamas. Critics argue these developments are part of broader US-Israeli pressure to dismantle resistance movements in Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan.

A wave of coordinated attacks has struck prison facilities across France. Staff vehicles were torched, gates set on fire, and bullets from a Kalashnikov fired at a facility in Toulon. The acronym “DDPF” — Defending the Rights of French Prisoners — was tagged at several scenes.

The suspected group emerged days earlier on Telegram, denouncing humiliating strip searches and harsh conditions. “We are not terrorists,” they wrote. “We defend human rights inside prisons.” The channel, now shut down, had over 1,200 followers.

Anti-terror prosecutors are investigating. Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin ordered nationwide security tightening.

One of the group’s last messages targeted Darmanin’s new ultra-secure prison regime, modeled on Italy’s 41-bis system: isolation, censored contact, and 24/7 surveillance. The plan comes amid 131% prison overcrowding in France. Nearly 25% of inmates have psychiatric conditions. “But we all know,” said union rep Ahmed El Hoummass, “a psych bed costs more than a prison bed.”
“Imagine seeing people burn in front of you, without being able to save them.” Palestinians witnessed another massacre in Khan Younis where at least 16 people have been killed, most of them women and children.

Israel targeted encampments for displaced people across the besieged Gaza Strip. The official death toll surpassed 51,065. This figure does not include those still trapped under rubble or vaporized by heavy bombardments.

Israel continues to pursue its genocidal war, while the UN reports that around 500,000 people have been displaced since Israel resumed the offensive. Since March 2, the Israeli-imposed siege has blocked the entry of all humanitarian aid, preventing the delivery of medical supplies, food, and other essential goods. Meanwhile, Israeli media praises the blockade and the unfolding famine crisis as “pressure on Hamas”, while Israeli intelligence estimates that Gaza has only one month of food supplies remaining.

Israel planned to strike Iran's nuclear sites next month, but the US waved off the attack ahead of talks with Tehran.

US President Trump temporarily halted an Israeli attack on Iran due to internal debates within his administration, according to the New York Times. US officials expressed concerns, citing Iran's willingness to negotiate. Israeli politicians like Gantz stated that Israel “must and can strike Iran,” while Lapid warned Israel may not have another chance.

After Iran-US indirect talks began, Iranian officials expressed cautious optimism about a potential agreement, while criticizing US policies. This week, US Special Envoy Witkoff stated that “Iran must stop and eliminate its nuclear enrichment and weaponization program,” while Iran called its uranium enrichment “non-negotiable.”

One reason Iran pursued indirect talks is the US policy of threats and sanctions. Led by Israel, the US has threatened to strike Iran, moving military assets to the Indian Ocean and Gulf bases.

Mexico does not recognize the results of Ecuador’s recent election, President Claudia Sheinbaum announced.

Ecuador’s neoliberal President Daniel Noboa claimed victory with more than 50% of the vote. However, leftist opposition candidate Luisa González has accused him of fraud, pointing to unsigned ballot papers as evidence.

Tensions between the two countries had already escalated last year, when Ecuadorian police illegally stormed the Mexican Embassy in Quito to arrest Jorge Glas — the former Vice President under Rafael Correa — who had been granted political asylum by Mexico. In response, Mexico broke off diplomatic relations.

Trump handed Wall Street the gift of chaos and the banks made a fortune. While his tariff war upended supply chains and pushed the global economy toward recession, the biggest US banks saw massive profits from trading.

JPMorgan made $9.7bn. Bank of America earned $7.4bn. Goldman Sachs took in $4.2bn from equities. Morgan Stanley’s trading revenues soared 45%. Citigroup’s rose 20%. Banks profited both by taking advantage of the swings and by processing the rush of trades that followed.

The more uncertainty Trump created, the more money moved and the more banks gained. Even elected officials took advantage. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene bought up to $315,000 in stocks—Apple, Amazon, FedEx—just before Trump announced a pause on tariffs, which triggered a 12% Nasdaq surge the next day.

While regular people braced for instability, trading desks and some in Congress cashed in on the chaos.

🟡 NEW: Yemen’s Ansarallah Face a US-Backed Ground Offensive

Washington, alongside the Saudi-backed administration in southern Yemen, is in talks to oust Ansarallah. Plans could include an attempt to retake the capital, Sanaa.

Despite repeated, escalating US-led bombings aimed at crippling Ansarallah, it’s clear these efforts are failing to deliver the desired results.

Reports suggest the first target might be the key port city of Hodeida, which would cut off Ansarallah’s access to the Red Sea. Since the onset of the Gaza genocide, Ansarallah has maintained an almost continuous sea blockade.

This blockade has crippled critical global trade routes in the Red Sea and is aimed at applying pressure on Tel Aviv to end its war of extermination on Gaza. Seizing the port would also sever the group’s vital economic lifeline.

In response, senior Ansarallah leader Mohammed Ali al-Houthi stated that the US-led bombing campaigns had not deterred them, and a ground operation would fail to stop their resolve.
On this day in 1961, Fidel Castro declared the socialist character of the Cuban Revolution for the first time.

He delivered the speech in honor of seven Cuban personnel killed the previous day in a bombing attack by CIA-funded rebels targeting several airfields near Havana. The attack was a prelude to the Bay of Pigs invasion, which began the following day.

Up until that point, the 26th of July Movement (M-26) had included a range of ideological currents, from nationalists to social democrats. The nationalization of industry, followed by this speech, marked a decisive socialist turn in the revolution—culminating in the creation of the Communist Party of Cuba in 1965.

🟡NOW: Around 60 activists have occupied parts of Humboldt University in Berlin in solidarity with Palestine. A banner reading “Intifada until victory” hangs from the occupied building. Outside, spontaneous protests have erupted as police respond with a large deployment.

Last summer, a wave of university occupations swept through Berlin. Protesters demanded a ceasefire in Gaza and called for the severing of institutional ties between German and Israeli universities.
UK police repressed a pro-Palestine protest outside BBC HQ in London yesterday. Organized by “Youth Demand,” it denounced the BBC’s biased coverage in favor of Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Protests at the site were banned earlier this year. Several arrests were made.

ICE agents smashed the window of a Guatemalan migrant’s car and took him to an unknown location. Juan Francisco Mendez, 29, has no criminal record. When asked if they had a warrant to search the vehicle, the agents stayed silent.

This is part of a wider escalation in Trump’s anti-immigrant crackdown. In March, 48.1% of people in ICE detention had no criminal record—yet many were still deported. Some have been sent to El Salvador’s CECOT prison, notorious for human rights abuses including torture and denial of access to food and healthcare.

Two activists from Palestine Action scaled and occupied the roof of GRiD Defence Systems in High Wycombe. The firm supplies military computers to Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest weapons maker.

GRiD also provides components to Lockheed Martin and Leonardo, both deeply involved in Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Palestine Action said the goal was to disrupt the genocidal supply chain linking British firms to war crimes. The site was previously targeted in 2024.

56 years ago today, one of the world’s longest-running communist guerrilla armies was founded, the Philippines’ New People’s Army (NPA). Starting with just 60 fighters, today, the NPA counts thousands in its ranks & has built a mass base of several million nationwide.

Founded by the Communist Party of the Philippines in 1969 on the principles of Marxism-Leninism-Mao Zedong Thought, the NPA has waged more than five decades of “protracted people’s war” against US imperialism & the Philippine government which it classifies as a US “client state”.

Its strategy includes guerrilla warfare, land reform in liberated areas, and building a mass base among the poor. The NPA welcomes women, LGBT+ people, and those from oppressed communities.

Despite relentless US-backed offensives, the NPA remains active. In the name of counterinsurgency, the Armed Forces have committed human rights abuses, including torture, bombings, and killings. Human Rights Watch has condemned the state’s “red-tagging” campaign.

“An empire drunk on power.” That’s how Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro described the United States, accusing Washington of using force and manipulation to maintain its grip on global power.

Speaking in Caracas, Maduro pointed to Ecuador’s recent presidential runoff as a fresh example of US interventionism in Latin America. He condemned the election of right-wing businessman Daniel Noboa as part of a broader “colonialist project,” suggesting Washington played a role in engineering the outcome to serve its regional interests.

Ecuador’s left-wing opposition has also rejected the results. Exit polls showed a technical tie, but official figures gave Noboa a decisive victory—raising accusations of fraud, voter suppression, and military intimidation.

In honor of Martin Luther King (MLK) Jr., we remember his iconic speech at Stanford in 1967.

MLK’s insightful analysis revealed that the white ruling class’ racism and exploitation provoked the frustrations of the Black community, in particular, to boil over into violent outbursts in several US cities.

He understood that the root cause of these riots was the failure of the US establishment to address the demands of the Black community and poor people in general, famously dubbing the riots “the language of the unheard.”

Another pro-Palestinian student arrested in the US. Rumeysa Ozturk, a Tufts PhD candidate, union organizer, and vocal advocate for Palestine, has been detained by ICE. Fellow students say ICE is operating “like kidnappers.”

Her lawyers have not been informed of her location or allowed any contact—an opaque process eerily similar to the recent case of Mahmoud Khalil, a green card holder also targeted for his activism. The arrest highlights a pattern targeting critics of Israel’s genocide in Gaza, with pro-Palestinian voices increasingly silenced under the guise of immigration enforcement.

49 years ago today, Israeli occupation forces shot and killed 10 Palestinians while protesting the Israeli authorities’ expropriation of thousands of dunums of Palestinian land. Since then, March 30 has been known as Land Day. The Land Day anniversary is a time for Palestinians to renew their commitment to their ancestral lands, showcasing steadfastness against their occupiers who are waging an extermination war against Palestinians in Gaza.

Today, in 2002, right-wing forces backed by the US attempted to overthrow former Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez, but were ultimately defeated by popular resistance. Watch this powerful speech by the Bolivarian revolutionary, who rallied thousands against imperialism.

On April 11, 2002, the Venezuelan elite, the Church, and segments of the military organized a coup against then-President Hugo Chávez. However, the Venezuelan people flooded the streets to defend the Bolivarian Revolution and overpowered the US-backed right-wing coup.

The coup plotters aimed to install a de facto government led by Pedro Carmona, a business mogul and former president of the chamber of commerce, who intended to dissolve all other state powers and local authorities.

The people brought Chávez back to power within just 47 hours. The counterrevolutionary offensive backfired, as the mass mobilization politicized wider segments of the population, who organized themselves into Bolivarian collectives.
