The federal government spent more than $27 million on a nonprofit that texts sexually explicit health advice to children, tells them how to use sex toys and tests them for HIV without notifying or seeking permission from parents.
The Center for Innovative Public Health Research said researchers obtained “waivers” from a review board under the oversight of the Health and Human Services Department to secretly enroll children in government-funded studies of teenage sexual behavior.
Researchers at the center, administering a program on teen pregnancy called “Girls2Girls,” explained they did not want parents to know about their children’s involvement.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem issued the department’s first waiver since taking office in January. The waiver allows the federal government to bypass environmental rules to build 2.5 miles of barrier in Jacumba Hot Springs and San Diego, California — regions that experienced high levels of illegal immigration during the Biden administration.
“Acting under President Trump’s Executive Orders, Secretary Noem is taking bold, decisive steps to secure the southern border and achieve full operational control,” the DHS said in a statement to the Washington Examiner. “To cut through bureaucratic delays, DHS is waiving environmental laws — including the National Environmental Policy Act — that can stall vital projects for months or even years.”
The Federal Register published the waiver Tuesday, which allows the government to quickly construct physical barriers where they are needed most rather than wait for studies to ensure the land will not be negatively affected, according to the DHS.

Though this move likely makes no sense to some, Bagram Air Base and Afghanistan as a whole remains an extremely strategic location for staging future military operations in a war against both Iran and China. China’s Commerce Ministry said it “resolutely opposes” U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat of escalating tariffs, and vowed to take countermeasures to safeguard its own rights and interests.
The comments came after Trump said he would impose an additional 50% duty on U.S. imports from China Wednesday, if Beijing does not withdraw the 34% tariff it imposed on American products last week.
“The U.S. threat to escalate tariffs on China is a mistake on top of a mistake,” the statement said, according to a CNBC translation. “China will never accept it. If the U.S. insists on its own way, China will fight to the end.”

Under pressure from the Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency, nearly all the staff of the Defense Digital Service — the Pentagon’s fast-track tech development arm — are resigning over the coming month, according to the director and three other current members of the office granted anonymity to discuss their job status freely, as well as internal emails.
The resignations will effectively shut down the decade-old program after the end of April.
The Defense Digital Service was created in 2015 to help the Pentagon adopt fast tech fixes during national security crises and push Silicon Valley-style innovation inside the Pentagon. It built rapid response tools for the military during the Afghanistan withdrawal, databases to transfer Ukrainian military and humanitarian aid, drone detection technologies and more.
