"Archangel Michael defeating Lucifer".
Sculptor: Scipione Tadolini
Archangel Michael is the chief archangel and is one of the most revered archangels in the Abrahamic religions. In Orthodoxy he is called Archistratigus, which means "head of the holy host of Angels and Archangels".
He led the heavenly host, which rebelled against the angels who fell away from God and their leader Lucifer, this angel God endowed with great perfection, but for his pride and rebellion against the Creator Lucifer was cast down from heaven. It was Archangel Michael who cast Lucifer and his supporters down from heaven.
