The role of tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) in metabolic disorders: A promising cannabinoid for diabetes and weight management
Disorders of the metabolism, including obesity and type 2 diabetes, represent significant global health challenges due to their rising prevalence and associated complications. Despite existing therapeutic strategies, including lifestyle interventions, pharmacological treatments, and surgical options, limitations such as poor adherence, side effects, and accessibility issues call attention to the need for novel solutions. Tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV), a non-psychoactive cannabinoid derived from Cannabis sativa, has emerged as a promising agent to manage metabolic disorders. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), THCV exhibits an antagonistic function on the CB1 receptor and a partial agonist function on the CB2 receptor, thus enabling appetite suppression, enhanced glucose regulation, and increased energy expenditure. Preclinical studies demonstrated that THCV improves insulin sensitivity, promotes glucose uptake, and restores insulin signaling in metabolic tissues.
Additionally, THCV reduces lipid accumulation and improves the mitochondrial activity in adipocytes and hepatocytes, shown through both cell-based and animal research. Animal models further revealed THCV's potential to suppress appetite, prevent hepatosteatosis, and improve metabolic homeostasis. Preliminary human trials support these findings, thereby showing that THCV may modulate appetite and glycemic control, though larger-scale studies are necessary to confirm its clinical efficacy and safety. THCV's unique pharmacological profile positions it as a possible therapeutic candidate to address the multifaceted challenges of obesity and diabetes. Continued research should concentrate on optimizing formulations, undertaking well-designed clinical studies, and addressing regulatory hurdles to unlock its full potential.

@SecKennedy: "What we're cutting is waste, fraud, and abuse. We're streamlining an agency that grew by 38% in the 4 years that President Biden was in the White House... we're not getting rid of ANY critical research and we're not getting rid of any of the programs that are critical to Americans' healthcare."

Top US corporate titans including Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg and Larry Fink are heading to Saudi Arabia next week for an investor conference — even as President Trump himself flies to the oil-rich kingdom to meet with regional heads of state, The Post has learned.
The Saudi-US Investment Forum — which one insider branded “MAGA in the Desert” — will be held on May 13. Other guests will include OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Citigroup CEO Jane Fraser, Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg and David Sacks, the White House czar for AI and crypto.
Government officials set to beat the drum for investing in the US include Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, sources told The Post.

Kash Patel:
I'd encourage everyone to read this story on the violent 764 network and how the @FBI is working with local law enforcement to fight back.
It's deeply disturbing, but critically important to understand what's out there and be aware of the threats American kids and families are facing every day.
The criminals in these networks use online platforms to target vulnerable kids, coerce victims, and recruit others - often resulting in horrible cases of abuse.
It is absolutely tragic - and I want people to know we're cracking down hard. Remember, last week we announced our agents and partners arrested two alleged leaders within 764. We've opened hundreds of cases around the country and our field offices are fully engaged. This is a priority for myself, @FBIDDBongino, and our leadership team.
Those who come after America's children will face justice. We will be relentless in pursuing them.
We hope to have more updates very soon. Thank you to our teams and partners who are treating this issue with the gravity it deserves and working around the clock to protect children.

President Trump will sign an executive order Monday to ban all risky gain-of-function research in China, Iran and other countries without proper oversight of the experiments — more than five years after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic that US intel agencies have since said most likely resulted from a lab accident.
The order will yank funding from “any present and all future” gain-of-function research as well as deputize the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other agencies to identify biological research harmful to public health or threatening to national security.
“These measures will drastically reduce the potential for lab-related incidents involving gain-of-function research, like that conducted on bat coronaviruses in China by the EcoHealth Alliance and Wuhan Institute of Virology,” according to a White House fact sheet reviewed by The Post.
White House officials also dinged the Biden administration for allowing the possibly global-pandemic producing experiments that enhance the infectiousness of viruses and bacteria.
Additionally, all research with infectious pathogens and toxins will be paused until the director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy and national security adviser develop a new policy with enforcement and reporting requirements.

🚨Reps. Jim Jordan, Darrell Issa, and Chip Roy have sent a letter to the D.C. District Court Clerk DEMANDING to know how and why Judge Boasberg has repeatedly been assigned to multiple President Trump related cases.
"Many of these nationwide injunctions have raised concerns that Article III judges are exceeding their constitutional authority by replacing the policy decisions of the duly elected President with their own preferences, eroding public trust in the integrity and fairness of our judicial system. Many high-profile cases challenging policy decisions of the Trump Administration have been filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia (District Court)," the letter mentions early on, referencing a key concern as well as previewing how Congress may look to be doing more. "As Congress considers potential legislative reforms to address the abuse of nationwide injunctions and adjust the national distribution and local assignment of cases challenging Executive Branch policy decisions, we write to request information about the District Court’s assignment of cases."
