During an interview earlier today with the Washington Free Beacon, Democratic Senator John Fetterman stated that the Trump administration should drop the ongoing nuclear talks with Iran and launch military strikes against their nuclear facilities. “Waste that shit,” said Fetterman, with him adding “You're never going to be able to negotiate with that kind of regime that has been destabilizing the region for decades already, and now we have an incredible window, I believe, to do that, to strike and destroy Iran's nuclear facilities.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this morning from the Kremlin, seemingly out of nowhere, a 30-hour temporary ceasefire in Eastern Ukraine over Easter, lasting from 18:00 April 19 till 00:00 April 21, adding that he expects the Ukrainian side to also abide by the ceasefire citing “humanitarian considerations.” Despite this sudden announcement by Putin, as the ceasefire was set to go into effect, air-raid sirens were sounding in cities across Ukraine. This appears to be just another “Christmas Ceasefire” from 2023, in which Russia declares a ceasefire while continuing to attack Ukraine, before then accusing Ukraine of violating the ceasefire.
According to officials familiar with planning for the negotiations, the Iranian delegation for Saturday’s indirect talks with the United States in Oman, is expected to be led by Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi; while the American delegation will be led by U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff. Discussions will happen in separate rooms with a mediator, who will pass notes between the delegations.
In a post earlier on Truth Social, U.S. President Donald J. Trump claimed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky saying that Ukraine will not legally recognize Russia’s control over Crimea, which was illegally invaded and occupied by Russia eleven years ago, is “very harmful” to ongoing peace negotiations with Russia. Adding that if Ukraine wanted Crimea, they should have gone to war with Russia when they invaded in 2014, claiming that before the invasion Crimea housed major submarine bases for the Russian Navy.
The U.S. Supreme Court tonight in a unanimous 9-0 vote, ruled that the Trump Administration must return Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, a Salvadorian residing in Maryland on a “special immigration status” who was arrested without warrant and wrongfully deported last month to the notorious CECOT maximum-security mega-prison in El Salvador, alongside roughly 100 other illegal migrants who immigration officials claimed were violent criminals and/or members of Tren de Aragua, a Venezuelan gang operating in North, Central and South America.
According to an Iranian official who spoke to Reuters, Iran has issued notices to Iraq, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Turkey and Bahrain that any support for a U.S. strike against Iran, including the use of their national airspace, territory or bases by the U.S. military during an attack, would be considered an act of hostility.
U.S. President Donald J. Trump has just released drone footage showing one of the recent airstrikes by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) on Western Yemen, targeting a large congregation of Houthi terrorists, with the caption reading, “These Houthis gathered for instructions on an attack. Oops, there will be no attack by these Houthis! They will never sink our ships again!” Over 70 terrorists can be seen gathered in the footage, with all of them likely to have been killed in the strike.

U.S. President Donald J. Trump will hold a press conference from the Oval Office at 4:00pm, where he will announce new tariffs on the international automotive industry.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has just arrived in Muscat, the capital of Oman, for today’s nuclear talks with the U.S. delegation led by White House Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff. Talks are expected to begin in the coming hours and will be mediated by the Foreign Minister of Oman, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi.
U.S. President Trump just told reporters that a pair of 100ft flag poles will be installed soon on the North and South Lawns of the White House. It’s not known how these poles or the flags needed for them would affect security at the White House, as well as the effect it would have on Marine One’s landing zone on the South Lawn.
Axios is reporting that Elon Musk and U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent got into a heated shouting match last Thursday in the West Wing of the White House. Bessent, who is usually described as mild mannered, is said to have confronted Musk about allegedly “going behind his back” to get President Trump to name Gary Shapley, an associate of Elon, as Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) instead of his choice, Deputy Treasury Secretary Michael Faulkender. During the chest-to-chest argument between the men, Bessent criticized Musk of overpromising and under-delivering budget cuts with DOGE, while Elon called Bessent a “Soros agent” and accusing him of having run “a failed hedge fund.” A witness later said, “They were not physical in the Oval, but the president saw it, and then they carried it down the hall, and that's when they did it again,” with another one adding, “It was quite a scene. It was loud. And I mean, loud.” Though in the end Bessent appears to have gotten the last laugh, with Musk’s pick to lead the IRS, Gary Shapley, having already been removed and replaced by Michael Faulkender.
U.S. President Donald J. Trump announced tonight that he would be appointing conservative journalist and Fox News contributor Sara A. Carter to Director of Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), unofficially known as the “Drug Czar” who oversees both international and domestic anti-drug efforts by the White House. President Trump added in his announcement, “Sara is an Award Winning Journalist, who has been on the front lines of this International Fight for decades — as our next Drug Czar, Sara will lead the charge to protect our Nation, and save our children from the scourge of drugs.”

A task force of 50 soldiers and heavy equipment with the Polish Armed Forces, including sappers, divers, an engineering reconnaissance and evacuation team, as well as technical support, from the 16th Sapper Regiment as well as elements of the 16th Mechanized Division, crossed the border today into Lithuania, in order to assist with the ongoing search-and-recovery operation for a U.S. Army M88A2 “Hercules” Armored-Recovery Vehicle (ARV) and its crew in a swamp at Pabradė Training Ground in eastern Lithuania.
The Afghan online news service, Khaama Press, reports that the United States has reassumed control of Bagram Air Base in eastern Afghanistan, to the north of Kabul, at the request of the Taliban Government; with several C-17s arriving last week at the base, carrying military vehicles, equipment and senior intelligence officials, including the Deputy Director of the CIA, Michael Ellis.

The redeployment of American servicemembers to Afghanistan following their withdrawal in 2021 has yet to be confirmed by U.S. or Taliban officials, though flight trackers did manage to confirm the arrival of several U.S. Air Force C-17 military transport aircraft last week at Bagram. Though this move likely makes no sense to some, Bagram Air Base and Afghanistan as a whole remains an extremely strategic location for staging future military operations in a war against both Iran and China. According to some reports, an official announcement of the U.S. military reassuming control of Bagram is expected to come in April, possibly as early as this week.
White House Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff has now walked back his comments last night on Fox News that described a conceptual Iran proposal eerily reminiscent of the failed Obama-era JCPOA (Iran Deal) framework. About an hour ago, Ambassador Witkoff returned to the Trump administration’s previous sentiments on the process, saying that “Iran must stop and eliminate its nuclear enrichment and weaponization program.”
