Despite today’s announcement of a ceasefire agreement between the United States and the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist group in Western Yemen, a pair of B-52H Long-Range Strategic Bombers which took off yesterday from Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana appear to still be continuing their journey to Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean, passing earlier today north of Darwin, Australia. It’s not known what the B-52s will be doing in the region, especially now that Operation Rough Rider appears to have ceased, that is unless they are there for another reason…

According to a report by Axios’ Barak Ravid, Israel this past weekend approved plans to launch an extensive operation to “flatten” the remainder of the Gaza Strip and displace nearly the entire population of two million to a single “humanitarian area” in Southern Gaza, if a hostage and ceasefire deal is not reached by U.S. President Trump’s visit to the region on May 15th. Alternatively, Palestinians who do not wish to remain in the humanitarian zone will have the option to be “voluntarily” displaced to another country, in line with President Trump's previously claimed vision for Gaza. The plan, dubbed “Gideon's Chariots” by senior Israeli officials, is seen as a nuclear option which many hope will not be needed, with it aimed towards “completely defeating Hamas”, though it would likely also result in the death of all remaining hostages held in Gaza.

Two B-52H Long-Range Strategic Bombers departed earlier today from Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana and are currently crossing the Pacific enroute to Naval Support Facility Diego Garcia. There they will join the 6 B-2A “Spirit” Long-Range Strategic Stealth Bombers deployed to the island in March, which have since carried out several strikes against the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist group in Western Yemen while also acting as a deterrence against Iran. The reason for the deployment of B-52s to the region is not currently known, though it could signal escalation soon in the Middle East.

According to a report today from Reuters, U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth unilaterally issued a verbal order sometime in late January to early February, to U.S. Transportation Command (TRANSCOM), for them to halt any additional flights carrying military aid for Ukraine, stopping 11 flights loaded with artillery shells and other equipment from departing for Poland. Within days, frantic questions were reaching Washington from both Ukraine and Poland about the pause, confusing senior officials at the White House and Pentagon who hadn’t known such an order had been made; though it appears neither did President Trump, with officials stating that while discussions regarding limiting or stopping aid to Ukraine were had during an Oval Office meeting on January 30th, the president never issued an order for Hegseth to halt aid shipments to Ukraine. One source with direct knowledge of the matter said National Security Adviser Waltz ultimately intervened to reverse the cancelations, with aid flights resuming by February 5th.

The U.S. Army confirmed on Monday after last week’s announcement under the Army Transformation Initiative (ATI), that they will be officially cancelling the M10 “Booker” Light-Tank Program, with this following years of debate over the M10’s design flaws and confusing role in the Army. The M10, which was originally developed by General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) to be a lightweight air-droppable version of the M1A2 “Abrams” Main Battle Tank, operated by rapidly deployable units like the 101st and 82nd, has skyrocketed since 2022 in both cost and weight, weighing in at a whopping 40+ tons, making it nearly unusable for its intended mission operating in an infantry support role unsuitable for the massive M1A2. But now the question remains: what will happen to the 80-100 M10 “Bookers” which have already been delivered to the U.S. Army?
