However, the Message Version’s word brooded [from the word “brood” has multiple meanings such as “ “think for a long time about things that make you sad, worried, or angry” (Source 1, Source 2). Brood means “To sit on and cover, as a fowl on her eggs” (Source) or “to remain a long time in anxiety” (Source). In the context of verse 2 (which is verses 1 and 3 of Genesis 1), God is not angry at the earth and is not covering young birds’ eggs but was creating the earth as per Genesis 1:1, and created the light on Day 1, proving that brood and the Message’s word “brooded” are incorrect words for Genesis 1:2 while the KJB’s word “moved” does correctly describe what God does in Genesis 1:1-3
