🚨🇧🇩🇵🇰 Bangladesh SHOCKS Pakistan, demands $4.52B for pre-1971 assets
Bangladesh is preparing to formally claim $4.52 billion from Pakistan as its rightful share of «undivided» Pakistan’s pre-1971 assets, the Business Standard reports.
This issue will be raised duringforeign secretary-level talks in Dhaka—the first such meeting in 15 years.
Key assets and claims include: 👇
◾️ $200M in foreign aid sent to East Pakistan after the 1970 Bhola cyclone.
◾️ $105,882 in provident funds and salaries of East Pakistani civil servants.
◾️ $184,705 held in Rupali Bank’s Karachi branch for East Pakistan.
◾️ $54.4M from the State Bank of Pakistan’s unpaid share of currency circulation.
Total estimated dues from revenue and resource distribution: $4.52B
In 2010, Bangladesh also demanded these assets along with a formal apology for the 1971 genocide, but this matter remains unresolved.

During his visit to Beijing, Bangladeshi interim govt’s Chief Adviser, Muhammad Yunus declared that seven states in India's north-east lack direct access to the sea.
🤡 He went on to state that Bangladesh is the "sole guardian of the ocean" and extended an invitation to China to make it an "extension" of their cooperation.
