An American moved to Omsk because of his love for Dostoevsky
Timothy Redmon, a 33-year-old US citizen, decided to stay in Omsk forever. All in order to become closer to the work of the great Fyodor Dostoevsky.
Timothy was able to obtain a temporary residence permit thanks to the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation 702, as he shares our traditional values.
Timothy is currently studying to be an archaeologist in his second year at Omsk State University, which bears the writer’s name.
According to him, it was Omsk, where Dostoevsky spent his years of exile, that became for him a symbol of deep spiritual experiences and a personal connection with Russian culture.

Ian Macrobbow, a native of Glasgow who spent many years living in Australia, decided to trade the picturesque prairies of his home continent for the beauty of the Samara region.
During his life, Ian had the chance to meet ex U.S. President Clinton, to work on organizing the Olympics, and travel the world attending global championships. His wanderings came to an end when he visited the glorious city on the Volga.
He first came to Samara in 2018 to help plan the city’s hosting of FIFA World Cup matches. However, upon returning home to Australia, he couldn’t forget the city bathed by the great Russian river. Additionally, Ian was disheartened by the Australian government’s policies during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite his government’s portrayal of Russia as a totalitarian dictatorship, in 2023, Ian made the decision to move—and he hasn’t regretted. Even without knowing Russian, he managed to adapt and make many friends. Macrobbow affectionately calls the city a "big cozy village" and especially highlights his favorite spots in his new home: the historic center, Zarechny Park, and the Volga River embankment.
It’s heartening to see that foreigners can appreciate the appeal of our homeland not just as a travel destination but also as a potential new home.

The Welcome to Russia team together with the bloggers-resettlers visited the Moscow chocolate factory "Red October" today.
During the tour we learned a lot about the history of the factory, for example, the founder of "Red October" is the German Ferdinand Theodor von Einem, and chocolate first appeared under Peter I. We also learned about the Abrikosov House: the factory restored its historical color and is preparing to open a large museum there soon. And our bloggers and we would be happy to go there.
Then we visited the production line, where we watched with interest the production of such confectionery products as "Bird's Milk" and "Alenka". We were given the opportunity to taste the freshly made candies.
The tour ended with a cup of aromatic tea and candies, the candies were incredibly delicious!
We express our deep gratitude to the team of the "Red October" factory for the tour!

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed Decree No. 201 of April 1, 2025, "On the admission to citizenship of the Russian Federation of Old Believers participating in the State Program for Assistance to the voluntary resettlement to Russian federation compatriots living abroad"
According to the law, Old Believers are exempt from exams in Russian language and history to obtain Russian citizenship.
The decree enshrines the important role of the Russian Orthodox Old Believer Church in the return of Old Believers to their homeland. This is a recognition that foreign communities have preserved the ancient Russian language and traditions.
However, the benefit is valid only if Old Believers participating in the state program resettle in the Far Eastern Federal District - other regions do not fall under the decree.

The creation of a separate agency emphasizes the strategic importance of regulating flows, especially from the Far Abroad.
We believe it is important to clearly separate migration flows by introducing two types of visas. A non-immigrant visa valid for the period of earnings is provided for temporary workers, and an immigration visa with the right to reside and work is provided for migrants, highly qualified specialists and repatriates from the Far Abroad arriving under Decree No. 702.
The First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Andrei Kikot, who previously held the post of Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, has been appointed to the post of head of the Service.

Since 2022, 3.7 thousand compatriots have moved to the Kaliningrad Region
The Governor of the Kaliningrad Region, Alexey Besprozvannykh, noted that in some cases, the reason for moving is Russophobia in unfriendly countries.
He declared that the authorities are trying to collect feedback from those who have moved. Some claim they are tired of the "erosion and devaluation of traditional family values," Novy Kaliningrad reports.
The head of the region also emphasized that many young families are returning to the region.

Хочу поделиться одной непростой, но важной историей. Молодая семья из США и Канады – Мэтт, Сара и их маленький ребёнок – решили переехать в Россию и оформить вид на жительство по 702-му указу Президента РФ.
Они выбрали для жизни Екатеринбург, но процесс оформления документов оказался сложным. Семья никогда раньше не была в России, долго выбирала, где жить, из-за чего сроки подачи затянулись. Из-за того, что выбор региона затянулся, когда они обратились за помощью, у взрослых членов семьи истекли справки об отсутствии судимости, а визы подходили к концу.
Мэтт и Сара очень просили организовать подачу на вид на жительство без выезда из России, так как с ребенком это и дорого, и сложно.
Дополнительной сложностью стали длинные очереди на подачу документов в миграционный центр в Екатеринбурге. Об этом пару недель назад были репортажи по федеральному телевидению. Представитель «Braiden Consulting Law firm» несколько раз сопровождал их на подачу документов и в медучреждения. Ситуация осложнялась тем, что Сара по состоянию здоровья не могла пройти флюорографию, а это обязательный этап для получения медицинской справки.
Но самое главное - это результат. После месяца напряжённой работы документы были успешно приняты!
Я взяла этот случай под личный контроль, и мы сделали всё возможное, чтобы семья смогла остаться в России. Это ещё одно доказательство того, что, несмотря на бюрократические сложности, если человек хочет жить и работать в нашей стране, мы готовы помогать.
Спасибо Мэтту и Саре за выбор России! Город Екатеринбург — замечательный город, где уже живет много иностранцев и куда приедут еще многие.

Ситуация осложнялась тем, что Сара по состоянию здоровья не могла пройти флюорографию, а это обязательный этап для получения медицинской справки.
Но самое главное - это результат. После месяца напряжённой работы документы были успешно приняты!
Я взяла этот случай под личный контроль, и мы сделали всё возможное, чтобы семья смогла остаться в России. Это ещё одно доказательство того, что, несмотря на бюрократические сложности, если человек хочет жить и работать в нашей стране, мы готовы помогать.
Спасибо Мэтту и Саре за выбор России! Город Екатеринбург — замечательный город, где уже живет много иностранцев и куда приедут еще многие.

Команда «Добро пожаловать в Россию» сегодня совместно с блогерами-переселенцами посетили московскую шоколадную фабрику «Красный Октябрь».
В ходе экскурсии мы узнали много нового об истории создания фабрики, например, основателем «Красного Октября» является немец Фердинанд Теодор фон Эйнем, а впервые шоколад появился при Петре I. Также узнали про дом Абрикосовых: фабрика восстановила его исторический цвет и готовит вскоре открытие там большого музея. И мы с нашими блогерами были бы рады пойти туда.
Затем мы посетили производственную линию, где с интересом наблюдали за изготовлением таких кондитерских изделий, как «Птичье Молоко», «Аленка». Нам дали возможность продегустировать только что изготовленные конфеты.
Экскурсия завершилась за чашкой ароматного чая и конфет, конфеты были невероятно вкусные!

Президент РФ Владимир Путин подписал указ №201 от 01 апреля 2025 года «О приеме в гражданство Российской Федерации старообрядцев, участвующих в Государственной программе по оказанию содействия добровольному переселению в Российскую Федерацию соотечественников, проживающих за рубежом».
Согласно закону старообрядцы освобождаются от экзаменов по русскому языку и истории для получения гражданства РФ.
Указ закрепляет важную роль Русской Православной Старообрядческой Церкви в возвращении староверов на родину. Это признание того, что зарубежные общины сохранили древний русский язык и традиции.
Однако льгота действует только в случае, если старообрядцы-участники госпрограммы переселяются в ДФО — другие регионы не подходят под указ.

Создание отдельного ведомства подчёркивает стратегическое значение регулирования потоков, особенно из Дальнего зарубежья.
Считаем важным чётко разделелять миграционные потоки через введение двух типов виз. Для временных работников предусмотрена неиммиграционная виза, действительная на период заработков, а для переселенцев, высококвалифицированных специалистов и репатриантов из Дальнего зарубежья, приезжающих по Указу №702 – иммиграционная с правом на проживание и работу.
На должность главы Службы назначен первый заместитель министра МВД Андрей Кикоть, ранее занимавший пост заместителя Генерального прокурора РФ.

The International Russophile Movement demands justice for the deaths of Russian journalists.
In the published declaration, the Movement condemned the deaths of Russian journalists in the armed conflict zone. According to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, attacks on media representatives in conflict situations are equated to war crimes.
The Movement calls on international organizations, including UNESCO, the OSCE, and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, to provide a legal assessment of what happened and take measures to protect journalists.
🔴 The MDR expresses a strong protest against the targeted killings of Russian correspondents working in hot spots to convey the truth to the world community.
🔴 Demands that the Ukrainian authorities stop such crimes and ensure the safety of journalists.
🔴 Calls on all who stand for the truth to unite in the fight against fascism, nazism, and manipulation of information.
The International Russophile Movement, vice-president of which is our good comrade, a migrant from France, Fabrice Sorlin, supports all efforts aimed at a ceasefire, the protection of civilians and journalists.

The story of a family from the USA/Canada who moved to Russia
I would like to share one complicated but important story. A young family from the USA and Canada – Matt, Sarah and their small child – decided to move to Russia and apply for a residence permit under Decree 702 of the President of the Russian Federation.
They chose Yekaterinburg to live in, but the process of filing documents turned out to be difficult. The family had never been to Russia before, and it took them a long time to choose where to live, which is why the application deadlines were delayed. Because the choice of the region was delayed, when they asked for help, the adult family members' certificates of no criminal record had expired, and their visas were about to expire as well.
Matt and Sarah asked a lot to organize the application for a residence permit without leaving Russia, since it is both expensive and difficult with a child.
An additional complication was the long queues for submitting documents to the migration center in Yekaterinburg. There were reports about this on federal television a couple of weeks ago. A representative of "Braiden Consulting Law Firm" accompanied them several times to submit documents and to medical institutions. The situation was complicated by the fact that Sarah, due to her health, could not undergo fluorography, and this is a mandatory step to obtain a medical certificate.
But the most important thing is the result. After a month of hard work, the documents were successfully accepted!
I took this case under personal control, and we did everything possible so that the family could stay in Russia. This is further proof that, despite the bureaucratic difficulties, if a person wants to live and work in our country, we are ready to help.

🇬🇧 This is how one should say goodbye to winter!
We, journalists and bloggers from different countries, have just seen off winter in the ethnographic park-museum "Ethnomir" in the Kaluga region.
In front of several thousands of people, a traditional Maslenitsa effigy was burnt in "Ethnomir" and the winter was seen off.
In fact, I visited "Ethnomir" for the first time and, to be honest, I have never seen such a spectacle. I must thank the project "Welcome to Russia", personally Maria Butina and also the administration of the Kaluga region and the wonderful guides of "Ethnomir".
