My take on the US-Zelensky relationship is that Trump doesn't really have the power to oust Zelensky yet. Nor an adequate and popular replacement for him.
Zelesnky obviously won't cooperate more than he is forced to.
So one of the scenarios is to keep forcing Zelensky. Until he either accepts the ever more humiliting terms for Ukraine and goes down in history as a leader who destroyed and humiliated Ukraine.
Or again keep forcing, but in case he doesn't accept cut military aid and make Ukraine bleed and lose even more. So that the Ukrainians themselves remove him in some way. Possibly the army will interfere in order to "protect national interests". And prevent national collapse. The problem here is that Syrsky is a barrier to this.
In any case every day Zelesnky stays in power is worse for Ukraine. But don't tell em that.
