I’d say there’s a choice to improve or continue, but given the nature of the problem, framing it as a choice is ill-fitting. Since everything is vibes and impulses and reaction, this trajectory will continue until something rips it apart or another thing overtakes it (or both). It’ll take a while for this to bear out, but ceding the field of consistently believing in something will have consequences that can’t be wished away when they hit. Until then, it’ll be a continual cycle of narratives and truths shifting like sand, while every spoken sentence condenses into two meanings: “approve” or “disapprove”.

Since a bunch of people of varying quality are talking about the state of the right, it’s probably a good idea to revisit this and understand trajectories.
It’s almost undeniable that the right’s memes and ideas are worse than they were a few years ago. Most people with platforms who haven’t abandoned ship or switched sides mostly rely on feelings. They think, say, and act on what just feels right. Barely anyone reads anymore. One position taken on one given week is liable to totally change the next week depending on who is on other side or depending on what needs to be true for whatever the narrative will be later. Others seem to believe things because at that time they want that belief to be true, regardless of whether it’s actually true.

True story from the Centennial of Lee's Surrender at Appomattox:
Robert E. Lee, IV was to be on hand for the surrender event. Shortly after leaving Richmond, and headed toward Appomattox, Lee was pulled over by a Virginia State Trooper. Addressing Mr. Lee, the trooper asked, "Are you Robert E. Lee, IV?"
"Yes sir, why, was I speeding?" responded Lee. "No, sir" answered the trooper.
The trooper then asked, "Are you headed to Appomattox for the surrender event?"
"Why, yes, I am. Why do you ask?"
"I just wanted to give you some advice."
"What's that?" inquired Lee.
"Whatever you do, don't sign anything."
And with that, the trooper saluted and returned to his cruiser.

Breaking my usual routine of Substack updates to bring some news regarding what thou mayest have heard about the lawsuit that Billy Mitchell had just won against Karl Jobst.
Billy was known as the “King of Kong” back in the late 1990s to 2010s for holding the all time high score in the arcade version of Donkey Kong. However, this changed as evidence came to light that his scores were achieved on emulation rather than original hardware and thus his records were removed. A similar story to former record holder Todd Rodgers who was also stripped of his honors and video game records after they were found to be fraudulent. Unlike Todd, Billy was actually shown to be capable at the games he played.
Then in late 2020 the YouTuber known as Apollo Legend, who have covered both people above for their cheating, sadly committed suicide after a long bout of depression and mental illness. Billy had threatened to sue him and others over his claim that his records were legit and some have argued it may have been a factor in his death. But nothing explicitly was about him in his note or what his sister said.
Karl Jobst, another YouTuber who is a speed runner and content creator covering similar topics, made several videos on Billy and implicated him as one of the reasons Apollo committed suicide. Which caused Billy to lose even more opportunities for convention appearances and other money making events, thus he filed a defamation lawsuit.
Karl also mislead his audience into thinking that this was about the cheating rather than this statement with his videos about it. Not only that, but many statements that he made like him being the guy to take down Billy also gave pretext to malice which is a crucial part of defamation lawsuits.
This is not to defend Billy Mitchell. The evidence for his usage of emulation is beyond a reasonable doubt in my view. He ended up settling with Twin Galaxies to put his scores back up on separate chart. But Karl comes out looking quite bad considering in his videos on this legal matter he played up the “Billy is suing me for exposing him” instead of what was actually happening.
If thou hast to expose people like Billy, don’t lie about it. That will always come back to bite thee in the legal department.
