2 years ago the future in my head looked drastically different from what it looks like now. Unfathomable loss, grief, and a baby later (though not in that order) I'm still working to pick up the pieces and build a life for my daughter and I.
I'm learning to appreciate the little things and all of the things I'm blessed to have rather than focus on what I don't have.
Grief isn't a straight road when it comes to healing and all you can do is take things day by day, step by step, and try to focus on the beautiful things that life has to offer. ❤️🩹

Wood burning takes much longer than other forms of art! Some of these took around 10 to 12 hours, while others took anywhere from 20 to 40 hours of work.
I'm not a very patient person by nature so I really enjoy the fact that pyrography forces me to slow down and stay focused on one thing for a while. 🔥

Thank you all so much for sharing my work and for all of the kind words! I didn't use any reference photos for this piece, and there is something about that that feels really good. It gives me confidence in knowing that I have the ability to create from my mind's eye rather than just replicating what I see with my two physical eyes.
There is nothing wrong with using references, and it definitely helps with proportions, but it's still fun to create without them too!

Sometimes I go through periods where I need to take a step back and process life events. I’m currently re-engaging online, catching up on what’s been occurring as the world moved on around me. I thought I would share some posts that have a made me smile and remember what I enjoy about being involved.
🎉 Many, many congratulations to Lord Wolfshield on his wolf-cub!! I can’t wait to meet the Little Lordling in a few weeks and give mama a big hug.
🎲 This post was a such a sweet, feel-good story, which I can always use more of. Also, I loved her earlier post on game-schooling – we do board games and card games once a week with my younger kids, too, as it’s definitely the most engaging way to get my kids excited about numbers.
🌷 This crochet tulip was adorable and I may need the pattern. I have daughter that would love for me to make her one!
🪡 I can always use more cozy crafting posts in my life. Beautiful work, friend.
