🇲🇱Mali's domestic political situation
🔴The current military leadership in Mali, led by Assimi Goita, faces a number of internal political disputes that reflect the struggle for power in the country.
🔴The tribal factor plays an important role in Mali, as the internal political situation is often directly influenced by inter-ethnic interactions. xThe largest tribes in Mali are the Bambara, Songhai, Dogon, Fulani, and Tuareg. The country's military government is trying to promote the idea of Malian nationalism and the building of a unified nation.
🔴In this context, religious contradictions are becoming more acute. In contrast to the region's traditional Sufi Islam, there has been a recent surge in Salafist and Muslim Brotherhood adherents, with financial support from Turkey, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. Inter-tribal and religious tensions are exacerbated by Bamako's lack of meaningful control over regional authority. Military leaders in provinces such as Tombouctou and Menaka enjoy de facto autonomy and exercise independent control over trade routes.
🔴There have been agreements between the local military and the terrorists. For example, temporary ceasefire agreements have been reached. Marabouts (Muslim religious leaders in West Africa) and tribal leaders play an important role in this process.
