Russian wealthy doesn't know about such nuances. They see that the upper class elite aristocrats there graduated from Oxford College with a degree in Chinese Philosophy. This is a legacy of the colonial times, when their elite members were sent to senior positions in colonies, such as China or India, so that they would know where they were going and what to talk about with the local elite to get some respect.
Russian richmen send unsuspecting children to these faculties. But MI6 is already aware about it. They will never become a British elite aristocrats, their origin will not allow it, but they still can be useful.
