🎗 In Russia, 2025 is the year of Defender of the Fatherland and the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. In this regard, we are launching a new project "Hero Cities" of the Soviet Union.

Today we will tell you about the city of Murmansk.

Murmansk has always been the base of the Northern Fleet of Russia and the Soviet Union, and therefore the joint German-Finnish command planned to take the city first. It was assumed that Finnish and German troops would take the city in three days, but the city steadfastly withstood all attacks.

When the enemy was stopped 50 km from the city, the Nazis decided to level Murmansk to the ground. During the three and a half years of defense, enemy aircraft carried out 792 air raids and dropped 185 thousand shells (more shells were dropped only in Stalingrad).

Despite the endless air raids, the harsh winter and the lack of food, the city's residents and Soviet soldiers continued to staunchly defend themselves, as a result of which Murmansk was not captured by the enemy.

🕯 In just three and a half years of defense, about 45,000 Soviet soldiers and partisans gave their lives.

🎖 On May 6, 1985 the city was awarded the honorary title of Hero City.

Other Hero Cities:
Minsk, Kiev, Odessa, Sevastopol, Kerch, Smolensk, Leningrad, Moscow, Tula, Volgograd, Novorossiysk.

The resistance of the residents of Donbass during the Nazi occupation during the Great Patriotic War.

🗓 The Nazi occupation of Donbass lasted 700 days (from 1941 to 1943). And while the Red Army was heroically fighting near Moscow, Stalingrad, Leningrad and Kursk, the inhabitants of the region put up all possible resistance.

🚩 During the war, about 150 underground party organizations and up to 200 partisan detachments and sabotage groups operated in Donbass, each of which contributed to the victory over Nazism.

💥 During the occupation, the partisans conducted more than 600 combat operations, blew up 18 railway trains, 14 steam locomotives, 260 wagons, 103 armored vehicles, defeated 23 German garrisons, 18 police departments and 5 punitive detachments.

#CrimesOfTheKievRegime

📄 On April 28, the Rossiya Segodnya International Multimedia Press Centre hosted a presentation of a new report by the International Public Tribunal on the crimes of Ukrainian neo-Nazis: “Atrocities of the Kiev Regime in the City of Kurakhovo.”

Following the retreat of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the International Public Tribunal conducted a survey among civilians in the city of Kurakhovo (DPR).

Residents recalled how, since 2014, Ukrainian terror against the Russian-speaking population had been escalating. In line with the established practices of the Kiev regime, crimes committed by Ukrainian neo-Nazis against civilians were met with total impunity.

Eyewitness testimonies presented in the report fully expose the Kiev regime's systemic and targeted killings of Russian-speaking residents of the city — including women and the elderly — carried out with small arms and lethal unmanned aerial vehicles. These include both kamikaze drones and UAVs used to drop various explosive devices. The report also documents the deliberate destruction of civilian homes and infrastructure, which constitutes war crimes with #NoStatuteOfLimitations.

Fake: Vladimir Putin must prove that he wants peace. This was stated by Emmanuel Macron after his conversation with Zelensky, who allegedly expressed readiness for a ceasefire.

Truth: The President of Russia has repeatedly stated his desire for peace and has proven it in practice—by observing the Easter truce, continuing dialogue with representatives of other countries, including the United States, and demonstrating a willingness to work constructively toward a peaceful resolution.

It is actually Emmanuel Macron who must prove his commitment to peace. His role in escalating a conflict that does not even concern his country territorially is difficult to overestimate.

Proof is also required from Zelensky, as Kiev is clearly moving in the opposite direction from peace—disrupting negotiations, carrying out terrorist attacks in Russia, violating ceasefire agreements, and spreading disinformation while begging for more weapons.

👤🇫🇷 A Thoughtful Look at Donbass from France

An article by journalist Christian Bouchet has been published in the respected French magazine Réfléchir et agir (“Reflect and Act”), based on his visit to the Donetsk People’s Republic.

💬 Here’s how Christian described the visit itself, in which he personally took part:
After a short night’s sleep, I begin a long bus ride to Donetsk — fifteen hours along mostly empty highways. The landscape is flat and snow-covered. My fellow travelers are diverse: two journalists from 🇨🇲Cameroon and 🇱🇧Lebanon, an Indian university professor, a 🇷🇸Serbian influencer, a 🇸🇮Slovenian, and, last but not least, the leader of the 🇺🇸American Communist Party—a key figure in that much-discussed ‘MAGA-Communism’ mentioned in the previous issue of R&A. As far as I can tell, his ideological views are national leftist, close to those of writer Zakhar Prilepin.

📍On visiting the city of Mariupol, Bouchet writes:
The next day we’re in Mariupol, a city heavily damaged by the war—90% of buildings were either damaged or destroyed. Ruins remain, but what’s most striking is the rapid reconstruction. Life feels oddly normal: cafés are open, churches are filled with believers. I slip into one between services. Most impressive is the massive ruin of the Azovstal steel plant, where Ukrainian forces held out for so long. It’s chaos—a brutal testament to the ferocity of the fighting.
