Despite millennia of history, invasions, and cultural shifts, genetic and archaeological studies show that modern Egyptians are, by and large, descendants of the ancient Egyptians. Their DNA, customs, and connection to the Nile reflect a deep continuity. Egypt has evolved—but its people have remained rooted in the same land, carrying forward a civilization that shaped the world 🇪🇬 𓂀

I should stress, to avoid confusion, that being genetically closest to a given population is not the same as being directly descended from that population. Modern peoples with the highest Sintashta/Andronovo ancestry per se tend to be speakers of Iranian, Turkic, and Indo-Aryan languages from Central Asia, South Asia, and parts of West Asia (Iran, Kurdish-majority areas, Turkey) and Northern Eurasia (Russia/Siberia). Sintashta/Andronovo admixture probably occurs in the highest proportion in Iranian-speaking Pamir groups, some of whom have it at ~50% even today.

The genetically closest modern populations to the typical, predominant genetic makeup of the Sintashta and Andronovo people are the Scandinavians and other Northern Europeans (though not exactly close, but closer than others), as they are the modern groups that still carry the largest proportion of Corded Ware ancestry, which is the original and recent source of the Sintashta culture and its Andronovo offshoot.

•"As we can see, the eastern regions exhibit higher levels of Iranic admixture. This suggests that Iranic groups migrated from the east and were not originally native, which challenges the claims of Pan-Iranian ideology. The farther west you go, the less Iranic admixture is observed. This indicates that pre-Iranic populations in the Zagros and Alborz regions were more numerous than the nomadic Iranic groups that later entered those areas."
