A beautiful, cosy public house will often confuse me as to where the pub begins and home ends.

One of my most popular videos from the days when I made my content on my old mobile phone was the story of the Pirate of Porlock. Seems only fitting I do a remake, filmed on location on the north coast of Somerset! 🏴‍☠️

Historic Southwark And The Anchor, Bankside ⚓️🍻

Join us as we briefly embark upon the history of the Anchor pub and how the many facets of medieval, Tudor, Jacobean, and Caroline era #Southwark played such key roles in its popularity. Today the pub is still frequented by hordes of people from, or visiting #London. But I wonder how many truly appreciate its physical brilliance or its historical relevance.

Pubs have long since played an important part of our lives from beginning to end.
From the same year
The Blind Beggar, #Whitechapel Road, East #London, 1969. It's strange seeing it look so clean and presentable.

Would it have been nice to grow up in opulent wealth? Of course. But, even if I became wealthy tomorrow, I'd never trade my time in the greasy cafes, grotty warehouses, real pubs, gyms, estates, canals, ghettos, and all else that not only made me aware me of life's hardship and wonders, but made me who, and what I am.

I am young, yet old enough to be among the last of our generations that didn't need a phone to know who'd be at the pub. When pubs let us in at 17 because we genuinely had nothing else to do. Conversation, togetherness, and the prospect of action were our be-all and end all.

The Smoking Ban 🚫 🚬

Pubs, clubs, and Britian as a whole were deeply affected by the "Smoking Ban" and the precedent that it set. We all have our opinions, just as we all have our own desires. But it seems the opinions and desires of some outweighed that of others. This is a brief overview discussing the other side of the coin.

We hope you understand that we respect people's right to want their own spaces, but not to dictate how others should operate within theirs.

In the past, #British pubs were visited by "seafood men" ("cockle men") who'd sell cockles, prawns, mussels and other such items to pub-goers from a wicker basket or on foot. Like many parts of pub culture, they're a very rare sight. It's rare to even see a seafood stall at a pub nowadays, never mind an actual cockle man. This is Dave Bartram the cockle man serving his goods in 2016, thought I've no idea how many are left today.
