A bar stool is called a bar stool because it's supposed to be.... at the bar. Real pubs support the age old custom of drinking at the bar itself, whilst gastro environments prefer you to sit at tables like it's a restaurant. Look out for pubs with real barstools and the metal bars that run along the bottom for people to rest their feet.

1963 - Youth of South London touchingly sing Wot Cher! (Knocked 'Em In the Old Kent Road) in the documentary named 'The Changing Face of Camberwell'. Can you imagine modern children knowing such a culturally relevant song as well as this?
