Last week, from 20 to 24 January, cryptocurrency-based investment products attracted a total of $1.9 billion. The majority of this inflow, $1.6 billion, was directed towards Bitcoin-focused crypto funds, bringing the annual total for Bitcoin funds to $4.4 billion.

According to CoinShares, total inflows into crypto funds since the beginning of the year have reached $4.8 billion. Analysts attribute this positive trend to Donald Trump’s recent executive orders, which propose the creation of a U.S. crypto reserve.

SEC to Address the Status of Cryptocurrencies 🇺🇲

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has formed a task force to assess the status of cryptocurrencies. The group will determine which coins qualify as securities.

The task force will work on changing the approach to the registration of cryptocurrency projects and is also considering classifying some tokens as "non-securities". The group plans to collaborate with federal and international regulators in this process.

Tuttle Capital Files for 10 Crypto ETFs 👀

Tuttle Capital Management has submitted applications to launch ten leveraged spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs). The proposed funds include those based on Chainlink (LINK), Cardano (ADA), Polkadot (DOT), BenePit Protocol (BNP), and even the Melania Meme (MELANIA) token.

Bloomberg ETF senior analyst Eric Balchunas noted that Tuttle Capital filed under the Investment Company Act, which could theoretically allow the ETFs to begin trading as early as April, provided the SEC does not reject the applications.

Banks in the US Are Now Allowed to Serve Crypto Companies 🇺🇸

During a recent press conference, Jerome Powell, Chairman of the Federal Reserve, confirmed that banks are now permitted to provide services to cryptocurrency companies. The key requirement, he stated, is the ability to effectively manage risks.

Tesla Reports $600M Profit from Bitcoin in Q4 2024 👏

Tesla has reported a $600 million profit from its Bitcoin holdings in Q4 2024, thanks to new accounting rules for cryptocurrencies.

The company benefited from a recent change that allows firms to include the market value of cryptocurrencies on their balance sheets. Under this new standard, asset values increase with price growth, a change that was previously impossible without selling the assets.

Tesla now holds 9,720 BTC, and its total profit for the fourth quarter amounted to $2.3 billion, with the Bitcoin profit accounting for a significant portion of this.

Trump's Company Investments in Ethereum Grow 💸

The team behind Donald Trump’s associated crypto project, World Liberty Financial, has been consistently adding Ethereum to its reserves. On 31 January 2025, the platform spent $10 million worth of stablecoins to purchase 2,971 ETH. On 4 February, the Trump project team made another purchase, investing an additional $5 million in Ethereum. These recent acquisitions have increased World Liberty Financial’s Ethereum holdings to 61,114 coins.

OpenAI Estimates the Rate of Decline in AI Development Costs 😱

The cost of using each level of artificial intelligence is decreasing tenfold every year, according to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.

Altman highlighted that since the beginning of 2023, the cost of operating the GPT-4 model has dropped approximately 150 times with the transition to GPT-4o in mid-2024. This rate of reduction far outpaces Moore’s Law, which predicts a doubling of transistor count every two years.
