An unrepentant military telling veterans to, "Please come on back," is kinda like an abusive husband who refuses counseling, thinking flowers and a new car will make up for trauma they've caused.
Until the DOD recognizes the malfeasance of its commanders - in every branch, at every level - and publicly commits to restoring the warriors THEY wounded they'll never rebuild the trust they've squandered.
This is called basic accountability.
