The next hearing is scheduled for May 1 and is expected to take place with the participation of representatives from the Kyiv Metropolis of the UOC.
On April 10, 2025, a hearing was held at the Northern Appellate Commercial Court regarding the eviction of monks from the Lower Lavra. The session was postponed until May 1 due to the inclusion of the Kyiv Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church as a third party in the case, according to the monastery's attorney, Nikita Chekman.
According to him, the Kyiv Metropolis has been granted time to prepare for the upcoming hearing and to submit all written statements relevant to the case.
“I believe the decision to involve the Kyiv Metropolis is lawful and well-founded, as it fully guarantees the Ukrainian Orthodox Church the right to present its legal position and defend the rights and interests of the monastery, its monks, and the Church as a whole,” the lawyer noted.

The anti-church publication that sympathizes with the OCU, "Ukraine Orthodox", publishes an interview with one of the commissioners in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

This commissioner wanted to remain anonymous. Which already says a lot about the understanding that the Ministry of Culture is committing a crime and desecrating a holy place.

The blasphemer stated that any comparisons of their commission with the Bolsheviks are "propaganda" and "ignorance of believers".
That is, he considers Ukrainian Christians to be fools who find it difficult to compare the events of today and a century ago.

“Everyone is well aware that relics are a unique national spiritual and historical heritage and a shrine for millions of believers. Therefore, the state must examine and understand for itself which of these relics was transferred for veneration by the Church in the 80s, which is now and in what condition. The members of the commission take descriptions of what the relics looked like in 1926, then compare them with the last inventory in the eighties.”

I wonder who made those “descriptions” in 1926? Were they not Bolsheviks?
Pay attention to the perception of the relics of the saints by this commissioner. For him, the Monks of Pechersk are a “national heritage” that was “transferred for veneration” to the Church.

The official literally confirms that he continues the Bolsheviks' work. The basis of the communists’ campaign to “research relics” was nationalization. They took the saints from the Church and made them their “property.” And then “researched” until the time when the relics were returned to the Church.
Now they have taken the relics again and are continuing the “research.”

The commissioner admitted that a representative of the OCU travels together with the officials, who provides “spiritual cover” for their blasphemy.

“Among the commission members themselves are serious scientists. For example, the scientist whom some call a “veterinarian” is actually a professor who participated in the re-embalming of Pirogov’s body. Therefore, he knows very well how to approach such preserved incorruptible remains as relics.”

How do you like that? He is not only a veterinarian, but also an embalming specialist. This wilderness is published by OCU lobbyists to justify blasphemy.

According to the UOC's Primate, the saints pray for everyone without exception, making no distinctions between people. It is sin that divides people, while God unites all.
On the Fifth Sunday of Great Lent, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine explained in his sermon why the Church commemorates the act of repentance of St. Mary of Egypt on this particular day. The address was reported by the UOC’s Information and Education Department.
According to the Metropolitan, every person living on earth sins – and in doing so "feeds" sinful thoughts, inclinations, and passions, which become inner "beasts." When someone chooses to repent and cease sinning, these passions rise up against them.
“The passions begin to torment a person who wants to be rid of them. They also harm those living alongside such a person. So that we don’t fall into despair, the Church offers us the example of the repentance of St. Mary of Egypt, who endured all of this,” said the Primate.
His Beatitude emphasized that St. Mary endured many years of suffering caused by sinful desires, enduring both cold and heat, but with God’s help, she overcame her passions and attained grace.
“May the Lord, through the prayers of St. Mary of Egypt, help us to spend the days of Lent in self-restraint and inner struggle – cutting off sinful desires, emotions, and thoughts,” the Metropolitan said.
In his sermon, His Beatitude also reminded the faithful that on this day the Holy Church commemorates the Venerable Fathers of the Zverynets Monastery. He shared the story of the life and struggles of the confessor and saint, Venerable Philaret (Kochubei), former abbot of the Zverynets Monastery, who is now glorified among the saints.
“Venerable Philaret is an intercessor for this holy place. He prays for those who come here to pray, to grow spiritually, for our city, our region, and all people,” said the Metropolitan.
According to His Beatitude, the saints pray for everyone without exception, not dividing people into categories. It is sin that divides people, but God unites all. And the saints, by imitating Him in mercy and love, also pray for everyone.
“They pray that the sinner may become righteous, and that the righteous may be sanctified even further. Such is the prayer of the saints,” added Metropolitan Onuphry.
At the conclusion of his sermon, the Archpastor called everyone to spiritual struggle, which is necessary for restoring within ourselves the image of God, which has been damaged by sin.
“May the Lord help us to walk the path of repentance with patience, never straying from it, and to continue along the way of spiritual life,” said His Beatitude.

The Kyiv Theological Academy expressed condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims.
Following the Divine Liturgy on April 5, 2025, the faculty and students of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary offered prayers for all those who died as a result of Russian missile strikes on Kryvyi Rih on April 4, according to the Academy’s press service.
A memorial litia was served in the academic church dedicated to St. John of Damascus at the Intercession Monastery in Holosiiv, led by Archimandrite Markel (Pauk), a lecturer, together with the academy’s clergy and seminarians in holy orders.
“The Kyiv theological schools express their condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims. May the All-Merciful Lord grant rest to the souls of the innocently slain in the dwellings of the righteous,” the statement reads.
The service was conducted with the blessing of Archbishop Sylvester of Bilohorodka, rector of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary.

Nineteen people were killed, including nine children, and sixty-one were injured, among them twelve children, as a result of the Russian missile attack on Kryvyi Rih. The city has declared days of mourning on April 7, 8, and 9 for those who perished in the recent strikes.

The Cherkasy Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) has denied the Orthodox Church of Ukraine’s (OCU) claims to churches in Cherkasy.
The Legal Department of the Cherkasy Eparchy of the UOC issued an official statement regarding attempts to raid churches in Cherkasy. The statement was prompted by an incident on April 2, 2025, when OCU representatives tried to seize St. Andrew’s Church and the Church of the Nativity of Christ.
According to the document, following the failed attempt at a forcible takeover, a post titled “Refuting False Information” appeared on the official Facebook page of the "Cherkasy Eparchy of the OCU." UOC lawyers called this post “a manipulation based on blatantly false claims.”
The legal department emphasized that both churches are legally owned by the administrative body of the Cherkasy Eparchy of the UOC, and the land plots on which the churches are situated are in the permanent use of the diocese, as confirmed by official State Land Acts.
The statement refutes the OCU's reference to “Justice Ministry decision No. 1861/5 from June 21, 2024,” which allegedly revoked the ownership rights. “This is a blatant lie and manipulation. The decision merely annulled the actions of the registrar who entered the data into the registry more than ten years ago, but it does not and cannot revoke the ownership itself, as upheld by a ruling of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine,” the statement reads.
The lawyers also pointed to fraudulent practices involving the sudden appearance of "parishes" represented by the OCU. According to their information, the UOC’s St. Andrew parish had been officially dissolved back in 2013 but suddenly “resurrected” in the registry on March 7, 2025, and immediately joined the OCU. Meanwhile, the Church of the Nativity of Christ parish “never legally existed at all” and was registered only in February 2025.

In conclusion, the Cherkasy Eparchy appealed to local authorities and law enforcement to prevent bloodshed and the illegal seizure of church property.

The UOC hierarch is confident that the time will come when the country returns to the rule of law, and those now persecuting the Church will be held accountable.
On April 2, 2025, Metropolitan Theodosiy (Snihiriov) addressed the faithful of Cherkasy in response to the ongoing threat of new church seizures in the city, according to the press service of the Cherkasy Eparchy.
The bishop explained that, departing from his usual practice, he gave an interview to Suspilne to explain the situation surrounding the unlawful claims of the OCU to the UOC churches of the Apostle Andrew the First-Called and the Nativity of Christ in Cherkasy.
Metropolitan Theodosiy underscored that no local community – religious or otherwise – has any legal ownership rights to these churches. Any attempt to seize them, he said, is "banditry", and the police are obliged to prevent such raider takeovers.
Referring to the seizure of the Archangel Michael Cathedral, which belongs to the diocesan administration, the hierarch warned against complacency, stating that "for these people, the law means nothing."
"Unfortunately, the current Ukrainian authorities are enabling this lawlessness. And for now, hoping that the law, the Constitution, and the right to freedom of conscience and property will prevail is futile," he said, adding: "But the time will surely come when the country returns to the rule of law. And all those who persecute us now – the instigators, the executors, and the organizers – will be held accountable."
According to him, "today is their time."
"There’s no defense against brute force. But we must defend our churches, show that we exist in this country. We are not 'Moscow lice,' as one city council deputy called us (in a civilized country, that deputy would be in jail, while here, it’s our hierarchs and priests being imprisoned – like Metropolitan Arseniy). We are not 'vermin' or second-class people – we are citizens of Ukraine with equal rights," the Cherkasy ruling bishop concluded.

Archpriest Oleksandr Petrenko, head of the Center for the Rehabilitation of Soldiers and Civilians of the Sumy Diocese of the UOC, has been continuing to evacuate residents from dangerous settlements in the Krasnopil and Yunakiv communities since March 21.

Surely everyone has seen the video where Father Oleksandr tried to persuade grandmother Nadia and her goat to leave Uhroidy. But she refused to leave the farm, the goat and the turkeys.
Here is the continuation of this story of risk, faith and salvation of ordinary people in the photo.

“Our religious community has a minibus that fits evacuees, so we decided not to sit on the sidelines, but to help,” said Father Oleksandr.

Most of the evacuees are residents of Ugroidi, 7 km from the village to the Russian border. There are also people from Krasnopilly, Mogrytsia and Osoyivka.

One evacuation lasts an average of 5–6 hours. In 10 days, the priest took out more than 30 people from enemy shelling.

🐐🐈🐕‍🦺Along with them, there are dozens of cats, dogs and even a goat, which gave birth to kids the next day after the evacuation.

“There were also unexpected loads – people are carrying TVs. For some, this is the most valuable thing,” shared Father Oleksandr.

It happened that enemy drones flew next to his evacuation transport.

“Recently, one flew about 20 meters from me. It was scary. I wanted to lie down, hide. But everything was ok. I am a faithful. I hope in God.”

Father Oleksandr does not wear a bulletproof vest, but he promised to think about it.

Although most people have already been evacuated from the border area, the number of applications is not decreasing. People who left in a hurry are now asking to return for their documents and belongings.
Father Oleksandr agrees.

“It happens that people leave with nothing. Then we give them money that is sent by those who care, so that these people can buy the most necessary things.”

The evacuation from the areas under shootings has been going on for over two weeks...

In an interview with blogger Oleksandr Shelest, political expert Kostiantyn Bondarenko commented on the Ministry of Culture’s commission tasked with “studying the scientific and cultural value of the remains of saints” in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
In his view, these actions further highlight the government’s hostility toward the Church.
“The very inspection of the Near and Far Caves, initiated by the Minister of Culture, is cynical by nature – not only are they attempting to inventory the relics, but also to assess their scientific and historical value,” said Bondarenko.
He suggested that the inclusion of biologists and even veterinarians on the commission implies a scientific, possibly even genetic investigation.

“What exactly are they going to study? Are they trying to determine whether these relics belong to Ukrainians or not? How can one even identify historical and cultural value this way? I don’t understand it,” Bondarenko remarked.

In the UOC Boryspil diocese, the community of the of St. Martyr Panteleimon church in Vyshgorod sent next humanitarian aid to the Donetsk region.

The aid was collected by residents of the Austrian city of Lienz. Children from the church Sunday school helped load the shipment.

Toys, clothes, children's things, shoes, kitchen sets and medicines. All this is very important for families of refugees from the war zone, for people in need and the elderly - it is very important for survival during the war. Volunteer Denys Lukyanets, who received the shipment in the East, expressed his gratitude.

Earlier, on March 2, the community held a charity fair in support of a sick child and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

◾️The abbot of the UOC St. Paraskeva Church in Stari Broskivtsi village Father Vissarion, spoke about the raiding scheme of the OCU activists.

On March 2, a group of aggressive Epiphany's activists, led by the serial OCU raider Roman Hryshchuk, tried to falsify documents for the shrine.

Having learned about the planned meeting of activists, the church parishioners, who had time, gathered in the premises. Orthodox Christians waited for the activists for 1.5 hours.

The believers, without waiting for the raiders, held a meeting at which they unanimously confirmed their loyalty to the UOC.

Later OCU activists arrived and created real chaos.

“Unexpectedly, it happened that Tamara Synyushka came on stage and said that “we are holding a vote.”
Without a procedure, without any rules, with major violations. She simply came on stage and said: “Let’s vote! Who is in favor of the Peter and Paul Church… and Paraskeva Church joining the OCU?” That is, both church at once.”
There were 27-30 people (raiders who have no relation to the churches), from their community, which was recorded on video. The real parishioners of the churches were not even given the opportunity to vote.

The raiders reported a “unanimous decision.” Later, they announced the participation of a mythical 300 people.
After the falsification of the meeting, the raiders immediately sang the national anthem. Orthodox Christians refused to sing the anthem together with thieves and robbers.

The real parishes of the churches later held meetings of religious communities, at which they recorded their decision to remain within the UOC.

The event was attended by representatives of the SBU, the General Prosecutor's Office, the Holodomor Museum, the State Ethnopolitics Service, and the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations (UCCRO).

From March 14 to 17, 2025, Kyiv National University named after Shevchenko hosted events under the title "Russia's Religious Policy as a Weapon of Hybrid Warfare: Implementation Directions and Counteraction Mechanisms," the university’s website reports.

The conference was organized by the Research Institute of Ukrainian Studies at KNU in partnership with the Office of the General Prosecutor, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the Department of Religious Studies of the Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the National Holodomor-Genocide Museum, with support from the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations, the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience, and several other institutions.
The conference program included four panel discussions:
-Legal challenges and strategies for counteracting Russia's religious policy in hybrid warfare;
-The ROC’s activities abroad: A network of churches as centers for spreading Russian propaganda and subversive operations;
-The ROC’s destructive activities and those of its affiliates in Ukraine: Non-Orthodox denominations in Russia following the ‘Russian World’ doctrine: Causes, motives, and consequences.

Speakers at the event included:
-Yaroslav Yurchyshyn (head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Freedom of Speech);
-Andriy Oleynyk (representative of the General Prosecutor's Office); -Eduard Lytvynenko (expert from the Kyiv National Institute for Strategic Studies, known for writing expert opinions in the UOJ case);
-Roman Fedinyshyn and Oksana Serbinenko (representatives of the SBU);

The parishioners of the UOC St. Michael's Church and the Church in Honor of the Pochaiv Icon of the Mother of God in Kelmentsi, Bukovina, denied the fakes of the OCU raiders.

In early March, the thieves from Epiphany's structure began falsifying documents for the shrine and reported about "transition to the OCU".

Orthodox Christians claim that the raider meeting "was officially presented to the authorities as a prayer service for the fallen soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine". No information about the convocation of the meeting was published in advance. Parishioners of these churches were not invited.

There was not a single representative of religious communities at the meeting of the OCU activists.

“That is, none of the parishioners of these two parishes gave their consent to the change of their churches subordination.”

The third, and important. The signatures under the decision on the “transition” were placed by representatives of the “Religious Community of the Church of the Holy Righteous Job the Long-Suffering of the OCU Chernivtsi Eparchy ”. That is, the decision was made by OCU activists on behalf of the parishioners of the churches.

“It is worth noting that this religious organization, which is located at the legal address on Bessarabska Street in Kelmenets, was allocated a land plot for the construction of a church by a session of the Kelmenets Village Council back in September 2024 (the decision is available on the village council’s website).”

Orthodox Christians emphasize that there are no grounds for re-registration of their churches. Moreover, the parishes held their meetings and decided to remain in the bosom of the UOC.

“It is also indicative that at the meeting or prayer service of the OCU representatives, as many as 470 residents of the village of Kelmentsi “voted” for “changing parish affiliation”.
But there were much more faithful to the Holy Ukrainian Orthodox Church - 726 parishioners of the St. Michael Church and 964 parishioners of the church in honor of the Pochaiv Icon of the Mother of God. That is, together - 1690!!!”

Activists and raiders deliberately keep these facts silent, because they completely refute their thieving scheme.

A telling fact is that at the OCU meeting, only 470 residents of the village of Kelmentsi "voted" for the "change of parish affiliation." Meanwhile, the number of believers remaining loyal to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was much higher: 726 parishioners of the Church of St. Michael the Archangel and 964 parishioners of the Church of the Pochaiv Icon of the Mother of God. In total, this amounts to 1,690 people.

"Summarizing the above, we can confidently state that our believers are being deliberately misled by deceitful and false words.

People who, by their nature, are adherents of force, deceit, fraud, and greed, and by their actions violate God's commandments, cannot be preachers of the Word of God and shepherds for the parishioners," the diocese concludes.
