Philippians Ch 3

His Right Hand Embraces Me

The Bible is a book of redemption. It is the story of the Creator and His creation; it tells of the battle of the ages, but it also tells of an everlasting love story between Christ and His Church, the Bridegroom and His Bride ~ the Bride and her Beloved.

The Bride is being made beautiful for her Groom, for she has been chosen by the Father to be His child and joint~heir with His beloved Son. She has been stripped of her rags and clothed in the robes of Christ's righteousness. She glows with the reflected glory of the Son of God, and the fragrance of her perfumed graces has been poured out liberally over her head by the Spirit of all grace. She is also to be adorned with a crown of rejoicing and the eternal, incorruptible crown of glory which never fades away.

Today the Bride has little strength, but her joy and might is in the Lord. His left hand supports her head and keeps her from falling, for in Him she has the mind of Christ, and through Him she can do all things, for He is her succour and support and His grace is always sufficient. His right hand of love and grace tenderly embraces His Bride.

By Him His Bride has all things richly to enjoy, and He has promised never to leave or forsake her, but for now she must make herself ready as she passes through a world of pain and suffering, ever looking for the day when Her Bridegroom will come to claim her as His own. Christ loves the Church and gave Himself for her ~ but this is a great mystery.

Before the world was created, the plans of God for Christ and His Bride were formed in the Father~heart of the Creator. Christ's earthly ministry, His sacrificial gift on Calvary, the establishment of the Church, which is His Body, Her future role as Bride of the King in the coming kingdom of Christ, and her elevated position in the eternal ages to come "when she will show forth God’s gracious love to principalities and powers for evermore," were all part of God's eternal plan for her.

No wonder the Church has a special place in the heart of God.

God bless you all.
Entrusted To Preach The Gospel

The book of Titus gives brief but thorough guidance on living a consecrated and virtuous Christian life that is holy to the Lord and displays grace and love to others. Titus was the man who was entrusted to teach, correct, and give guidance to the Christians in Crete, but Paul was the person who was entrusted by the Lord to reveal the truth of the gospel of grace to Titus, and to many in the early Gentile church.

In his letter to Titus, Paul lists the characteristics he should look for in Church elders and the qualities that should be encouraged in older men and women. He gives him advice on training and encouraging young people and children to fulfil their duty to God and their obligations to their parents, in their homes, families, and the wider Church community.

Paul addressed Titus as: "My true son in our common faith." Paul wanted to ensure that this young pastor stood firm on the Word of truth, and that he presented a good testimony of God's grace in his own life, while encouraging others to live righteously as well.

It is in the midst of his introductory salutations, but before he wrote his customary greeting: "Grace and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Saviour," that Paul seems unable to refrain from declaring, once again, the truth of the beautiful gospel of grace and the hope of eternal life which is given to all who trust in Jesus' name.

In his opening words, the apostle Paul expresses his joy for the faith Titus had in the gospel. He was overjoyed for all the saints of God who rejoice in a knowledge of the truth and whose life is consecrated to the Lord Jesus. Such a life, Paul reminds us, is underpinned and sustained by the hope of eternal life which is God's trustworthy promise to all who have faith in Him.

As Paul, the bond~servant of God and apostle of Jesus Christ, started to rejoice for the faith of Titus and those chosen by God and who know the truth, live godly lives, and trust in Him for their eternal salvation, he started to expand his thoughts about the Lord's amazing promise of salvation, which was made before the world began.

God's plan of redemption for fallen sinners was the promised 'hope' which would come through the sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. He was the Word made flesh. He was the incarnate Word of God Who was sent to earth at the appointed time to redeem mankind from their sin.

God promised long ago that by faith in Christ we would be declared righteous by God. Scripture told of His coming, giving man hope of eternal life. And Paul could hardly conceal his praise and thanksgiving that in God's own time and God's own way, the Son of God was revealed, the message of redemption was proclaimed, and Paul was entrusted to preach the precious gospel of grace, as commanded by Christ.

There is no greater hope and assurance that God's Word is true, for God cannot lie. And there is nothing more important than to live our lives in a way that honours the Lord and displays grace and love to others. The little book of Titus gives much guidance to pastors and people alike on the godly qualities and characteristics that should be manifest in the lives of all God's people.

God bless you all.
Joy

Happiness is our translation of the Latin word fortuna, which is closely related to chance.
Happiness is circumstantial; joy is not.
Joy is a supernatural inner quality of delight in God.
How does one get this joy?
1) Becoming a Christian. Understand who you really are, and the program God has provided for you, and lay aside any self-effort, trusting Christ for it all.
2) Obtain a mature knowledge of God's Word.
The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
Psalm 19:8
- I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches.
Psalm
119:14
•If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
John
15:10-11
Cf. Exodus 13:9; Deut 6:4-8;
11:18.

Dead To All Things Amounting To Idolatry

When we were saved, we were given a new life ~ the new life in Christ. Old things were passed away, behold all things have become new. Our old sin nature was replaced by a new Christ~like nature, and Paul tells us in many places to reckon ourselves dead to the old sin nature and alive to the new life in Christ.

Therefore, we have to consider every member of our earthly body to be dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.

When Christ died on the Cross, we died in Him. When Christ was raised from the dead, we too were raised with Him. How important, therefore, to seek those things which are above, where Christ is seated in heavenly places. How vital to set our mind on things above, for we have died and our life is hidden with Christ in God.

As Christians, we can submit to our old sin nature or we can live as unto the Lord. We can live our lives in carnality or we can walk in spirit and truth. Let us choose to live godly in Christ Jesus and put away the old sin nature, which is idolatry.

Let us remember that we are being prepared for our heavenly home, and when Christ Who is our life appears, we also will appear with Him in glory.

God bless you all.
