“What will Brazil be like when I’m no longer president? What if the far right takes power here? What will Chile be like if the far right takes power there? And the same goes for every country. Just look at the difference between Biden and Trump in the United States. What changed in the world? We need a new security framework.”
“For centuries, we were taught to look outward, toward the rich countries, while turning our backs on each other here in South America. But we will only be strong if we are united. Brazil needs to strengthen democracy, multilateralism, and free trade. Many people think Brazil’s major trade partners are France, England, or Italy. But only two European countries surpass Brazil and Chile in trade volume: Spain and Germany. With the rest, Brazil and Chile’s trade flow is greater than all of them!”
➡️ The Filipe Martins case will one day be remembered as one of the greatest scandals in the history of the Brazilian judiciary. A true laboratory of abuses, authoritarian restrictions, procedural distortions, and a series of illegalities, created with a single purpose: to build a narrative and, through it, a shortcut to try to target the person they truly intended to imprison.
➡️ This young man, who was my international advisor, was thrown into prison over a trip he never made. He has been deprived of freedom for months, subjected to isolation, censorship, and surveillance, without the right to respond and now even prohibited from being photographed or filmed… And now they even want to put him on trial because of a “draft” that doesn’t exist and that he clearly did not write.
➡️ Filipe Martins has my full support. What they’re doing to him is unacceptable cowardice and a warning about the direction Brazil is heading.
➡️ I extend that same support to Colonel Câmara and all others accused as part of the so-called “core 2.” None of them have or have ever had privileged jurisdiction. Yet they are being judged directly by the Supreme Federal Court, without the right to appeal to higher courts and subjected to arbitrary legal innovations and creative interpretations by Alexandre de Moraes.
➡️ I have said it before and I repeat: the world is watching closely. And finally beginning to understand what is happening in Brazil, a country where political persecution disguises itself as justice, and where authoritarianism grows with every silence imposed. The Economist article is just the beginning.
➡️ May God have mercy on our people and our country.
💬 Diosdado Cabello, widely seen as the regime’s “number two,” criticized the posting of videos about crime on social media, claiming that all presented data is false. “This is a campaign to make people afraid,” he stated, suggesting these publications aim to link the return of Venezuelans deported from the United States with a rise in crime. “You can’t instill fear in the population again,” he added.
📝 “All other precautionary measures remain in effect, with emphasis once again that no images of the trial or his transfer shall be taken or disclosed, even by third parties, under penalty of a fine and immediate conversion into imprisonment, pursuant to Article 312, §1 of the Brazilian Code of Criminal Procedure,” Moraes stated.
➡️ I remain hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of DF Star Hospital, still under postoperative observation. I am fever-free and with stable blood pressure.
➡️ The abdominal drains have been removed, and the surgical incision dressing has been changed, showing significant improvement. I continue on oral fasting, receiving only exclusive parenteral nutrition. Motor physiotherapy is being intensified, along with other rehabilitation measures.
➡️ There is still no discharge forecast from the ICU and, under medical advice, I am not yet allowed to receive visitors. I appreciate the care and understanding of everyone at this time.
➡️ One day at a time!

➡️ The world and Catholics bid farewell to one of the most symbolic figures of the Christian faith: the Pope. More than a religious leader, the papacy represents the continuity of a millenary tradition, a guardian of spiritual values that have shaped civilizations.
➡️ For Brazil and the world, the figure of the Pope has always been a symbol of unity, hope, and moral guidance. His passing invites us to reflect and renew our faith, reminding us of the power of spirituality as a compass in times of uncertainty.
"In response to the cynical statement made by President Nayib Bukele, in which he reaffirms that 252 Venezuelan citizens illegally deported from the United States are arbitrarily detained and in a condition of forced disappearance in a concentration camp of that country, we wish to denounce the following:
Bukele’s statement, who makes his worldwide debut in this way as the most faithful exponent of 21st-century neo-fascism, demonstrates that these citizens are kidnapped at the unilateral disposal of an individual outside the law who publicly and through the media declares to the planet that he tyrannically decides who may or may not enjoy life and freedom in El Salvador.
As we explained in a letter addressed to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, the treatment received by Venezuelans in the United States and El Salvador constitutes a serious violation of international human rights law and amounts to a crime against humanity that mimics the repugnant Nazi practices of the mid-20th century.
For this reason, I am now sending communications to the Attorney General of El Salvador and the Supreme Court of that country questioning them on:
a) What crimes have these Venezuelan citizens committed in El Salvador?
b) When were they presented before a judge?
c) Have they had access to a lawyer?
d) Have they been allowed to communicate with anyone since the moment of their detention?
As Attorney General of Venezuela, I immediately request the full list with identification of all those kidnapped and their judicial status, as well as proof of life and a medical report for each one.
The entire world should be appalled by the fact that CECOT is no longer a torture center created by Bukele’s macabre mind to punish criminals in his country, but rather a site of forced disappearance of innocent Venezuelans (according to arrangements with his imperial partners), whom, as an expert in human trafficking, he uses to receive millions of dollars in return.
What has been stated above demands that all international organizations call for the immediate release of our compatriots, who are now vilely kidnapped by a tyrant, and that they proceed to sanction this criminal conduct which violates the most sacred principles of international coexistence, justice, and peace."
"Mr. Nicolás Maduro, you have said on numerous occasions that you want Venezuelans back and free.
Unlike you, who have political prisoners, we do not have political prisoners. All the Venezuelans we have in custody were detained as part of an operation against gangs such as the Tren de Aragua in the United States.
Unlike our detainees, many of whom have committed murders, others rapes, and some had even been arrested multiple times before being deported, your political prisoners have committed no crime. The only reason they are imprisoned is because they opposed you and your electoral fraud.
However, I want to propose a humanitarian agreement that contemplates the repatriation of 100% of the 252 Venezuelans who were deported, in exchange for the release and handover of an identical number (252) of the thousands of political prisoners you hold.
Among them, Rafael Tudares, son-in-law of Edmundo González; journalist Roland Carreño; lawyer and activist Rocío San Miguel; Mrs. Corina Parisca de Machado, mother of María Corina Machado, who is harassed daily and has her access to basic services like electricity and water sabotaged; as well as the four political leaders sheltered in the Argentine embassy and other Venezuelan political prisoners.
This would also include nearly 50 detained citizens of other nationalities: American, German, Dominican, Argentine, Bolivian, Israeli, Chilean, Colombian, Ecuadorian, Spanish, French, Guyanese, Dutch, Iranian, Italian, Lebanese, Mexican, Peruvian, Puerto Rican, Ukrainian, Uruguayan, Portuguese, and Czech.
Our Foreign Ministry will send the formal correspondence."
