Would be better if they smashed their empty heads against the Western Wall.

Since the beginning of the year, the Russian ruble has demonstrated the strongest growth against the dollar among world currencies. The ruble has even overtaken dollar-denominated gold, Bloomberg reports.
According to the agency’s calculations, since the beginning of the year the ruble has strengthened against the dollar in over-the-counter trading by 38%, while the most popular defensive asset – gold – has risen in price by 23% over the same period.
For comparison, the Swedish krona has strengthened against the dollar by 14%, the Swiss franc by 11%. Silver has risen in price by 12%.

Pinpoint liquidation of Ukrainian Nazis: defeat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces by the Orenburg unit
Having received accurate intelligence, our drone operators went to visit the Ukrainian Nazis from the Armed Forces of Ukraine and gave them real hell💥. Drone cameras captured the moments of the merciless destruction of Ukrainian nationalists, who did not even have time to understand where the punishing hand of Russian retribution came from.
Source
➖➖➖
The Ukrainians are still playing catch-up with the Russian forces in regard to implementing fiber optic drones. Of course, their propagandists are already out ahead of them. They've claimed that the AFU have successfully tested such a drone with a 40km range, but I'm a bit skeptical. I did a bit of digging, and such a drone would come with a dramatically increased cost, for example:
Radio controlled drone: $200 to $500
Fiber optic drones (10 km range): $1000
Fiber optic drone (40 km range): $2300
That's before taking into account the need for a larger battery and the ability to create more lift to carry more weight, thus requiring an even larger battery.
I'm not saying it can't exist, but I'm curious how often it will be used and if it will be practical, even if it does exist.

He looks like Jim Breuer's dad...
AP:
"The top U.S. commander in the Pacific warned senators Thursday that the military support that China and North Korea are giving Russia in its war on Ukraine is a security risk in his region as Moscow provides critical military assistance to both in return.
Adm. Samuel Paparo, head of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, told the Senate Armed Services Committee that China has provided 70% of the machine tools and 90% of the legacy chips to Russia to help Moscow “rebuild its war machine.”
In exchange, he said, China is potentially getting help in technologies to make its submarines move more quietly, along with other assistance."
"Paparo said North Korea is sending “thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of artillery shells” and thousands of short-range missiles to Russia. The expectation, he said, is that Pyongyang will get air defense and surface-to-air missile support."
“It’s a transactional symbiosis where each state fulfills the other state’s weakness to mutual benefit of each state,” Paparo said.

Mutual cooperation between states? I'm shocked. Apparently everyone is just supposed to be a vassal state of the hegemon.

On the subject of the resignation of Bridget Brink, the US ambassador to the Ukraine, Ukrainian media writes,
Brink is a person who is completely connected with the US Democratic Party. She is a creature of Victoria Nuland. In her post, she was noted for patronizing various kinds of grant activists, which greatly irritated Zelensky, who last year raised the issue of her dismissal with Blinken.
So in the new era of American politics, when the flow of grants through USAID has been cut off and ties to the Democratic Party are a black mark, Brink is clearly an alien element.
Especially in Ukraine, where Trump is radically changing his policy. And for this, among other things, a new ambassador is needed who would clearly pursue a new line.
In the system of US influence on Ukrainian policy that has been built over the past 10 years, the US Embassy plays a huge role, since a huge number of contacts and agreements are tied to it.
Therefore, the candidacy of the future ambassador will be very important.
Will they send a blunt Trumpist to Kyiv who will constantly repeat theses on the topic of “you owe us $150 billion,” “you are not grateful,” “when will there be a deal on subsoil resources,” etc.? Or will it be a calmer candidate, a career diplomat?
The choice of ambassador will say a lot.
But it is possible that it will depend, not least of all, on the results of the US-RF negotiations on Ukraine. Will they be able to come to a common denominator and will Putin agree to a ceasefire. Or will he not agree. These will be two different situations and two different future US strategies on Ukraine.

Zin Note: Did you forget that it's $350 billion that Trump said you owe?

I know it's not the most entertaining of subjects, but I like to point out to those who claim that Russia can be defeated economically that they will be waiting a very long time. Russia is not even anywhere close to being forced to monetise their debt, which is actually still against the law in Russia, so I've been informed.

Every visitor to the Oval Office in the White House mistakes the button for ordering a Coke for a nuclear launch remote control, Trump admitted.
During a tour of his office for Fox News, a reporter asked the White House chief where the button for ordering a Coke was.
"It's right here. Everybody thinks it's nuclear. Everybody thinks it's (for) nuclear weapons... They say if I push it, the world will end," the US president said, pointing to a rectangular box with a red button located behind his desk.
In January, the Wall Street Journal reported that Trump returned the Diet Coke button to the Oval Office after taking office, which Biden had removed from his desk.

Адекват Z writes,
20 kilometers is the length of the active section of the front in the Sumy direction, adjacent to the west to the zone of Bandera's invasion of the Kursk region, where we have already crossed the border and are advancing to the south. About 15 is the zone of this invasion itself, where there are no prerequisites for stopping at the border. And about 20 more are to the southeast, where the Kursk borderland turns into the Belgorod borderland and where, on a section of this section far from the invasion zone, the hohols continue to exterminate their personnel and equipment, clinging to several hundred hectares at the border itself. In total, the section is exactly 55 kilometers, part of which is a big problem for the hohols in terms of defense already now, and another part will become so soon.
Judging by today's reports, the crests have units of 11 brigades grazing along this entire section, including a tank, two mechanized, and four airborne assault brigades. Disproportionately, many compared to the density of troops on the front as a whole and even more so - compared to the density of cover of the so far quiet sections of the border. And it still doesn't help: they are not holding the defense, there are no successes in the nahruk, and Bandera's losses in this strip yesterday are almost 30% of those they suffered along the entire front.
The interim operational result of their last year's decision to touch the devil: they got themselves an unhealed abyss, continuing to regularly devour a very finite resource. And devour with consequences not only for the front as a whole, but also for the section itself, which was and could remain calm: the beginning of the task of at least forming a sanitary zone is obvious, and how it can further scale along the front or in depth, only the command knows. The squeals from premonitions on this basis are already carried in abundance around the farm.

Part 2 of 2 (Part 1 here)
‼️What unites all the above-mentioned Ukrainian "officers"? They are the ones who are drowning Ukraine in the blood of the local population, stubbornly trying to prove to the nationalists their hatred of Russia and everything Russian. At the same time, they clearly realize that their lives could have been completely different if they had made the right choice, staying in their homeland with their parents, "classmates", and fellow servicemen. Today, they are actually taking revenge on themselves for the mistakes they made more than 10 years ago.
➖➖➖
Word "вырусь" is a term. I interpreted it as un-Russian, but it is someone, who strives to prove he's not Russian by all means. Person who rejects himself completely. I've seen alike. That looks miserable.

Северный ветер has publish a very interesting report:
Part 1 of 2 (part 2 here)
🈁Vyrusi [un-Russians] in the service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, or who sends Ukrainians to "meat assaults"
It is well known that conflicts on linguistic and national grounds systematically occur in Ukrainian society. Residents of Kharkov, Nikolaev and Odessa will never become their own for people from Lvov, just as "westerners" will never be accepted in the original Russian cities.
At the same time, all citizens of Ukraine who have ties to Russia experience the strongest complexes and try in every way to prove their "Ukrainianness" to others. What comes out of this in our short article:
🔜 Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine A. Syrsky. A native of the Vladimir region, where his parents still live. A graduate of the Moscow Higher Combined Arms Command School. In Ukraine, he received the nicknames "butcher" and "General 200". He is considered the culprit of massive losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, starting from Debaltseve and ending with the Kursk and Krasnoyarsk adventures.
🔜 former Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine A. Bargilevich. Graduate of the Tashkent Higher Tank Command School (1987). As Chief of Staff of the operational-strategic group of forces "Khortitsa" in the spring of 2022, he was responsible for the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the territory of the LPR. By a strange coincidence, one of the commanders of the Russian Armed Forces in the direction was his classmate, Colonel General G. Zhidko. After the Ukrainian media wrote about this, A. Bargilevich became known for his cruelty to subordinate personnel. Along with Syrsky, he is accused of massive losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Sudzhan border area.
🔜 Head of the Department of the Territorial Defense Forces "East " Major General V. Osipchuk. A graduate of the Chelyabinsk Tank School, he began his service in the Russian Armed Forces. Under him, the personnel of the TerDefense units from the eastern regions of Ukraine finally turned into "cannon fodder", which V. Osipchuk actually trades in, signing orders en masse to second servicemen to assault brigades and regiments.
Brigade Commanders:
🔜Colonel S. Romashko. Graduate of the Ryazan Higher Airborne Command School (1994!). He commanded the 41st separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which in fact completely was destroyed in the Sudzhan borderland. Instead of a pension or the dock, he was transferred to command one of the territorial defense units.
🔜 Lieutenant General A. Gorbenko. Graduate of the Moscow Higher Combined Arms Command School. In 1990-1992, he served in the Transbaikal Military District. In fact, he buried the personnel of the 125th separate brigade of the Territorial Army in the spring of 2024 near Kharkov. The soldiers and sergeants fled in panic, despite Gorbenko's attempts to "motivate" the servicemen with barrier detachments. He is under investigation, however, not because of the mass deaths of his subordinates, but because he allowed the advance of Russian troops.
🔜Major O. Shiryaev - commander of the "death regiment" - 225th separate regiment. Born in Orekhovo-Zuevsky district of Moscow region, was for a short period of time in the pro-Russian movement of Kharkovites (possibly sent by the SBU). If the lives of Ukrainian soldiers "on paper" are managed by Syrsky, then directly one of the main "butchers", under whose direct orders Ukrainian soldiers were sent to certain death, is undoubtedly considered Shiryaev. At the moment, he is one of the leaders of the Krasnoyarsk provocation.
🔜 Many high-ranking Ukrainian officers have also been captured by Russia and are under close scrutiny by the SBU.
🔜 there is another interesting point. 90% of the commanders of the Ukrainian brigades have originally Russian surnames, and their ancestors were in no way connected with the modern territory of Ukraine.

💰 Russia posted a 500 billion ruble ($5.4 billion) federal budget surplus in March 2025 amid falling oil revenues, according to preliminary data from the Finance Ministry.
‼️The federal budget posted an unusual spike in spending and high deficits in January and February, which the ministry attributed to front-loaded expenses.
🟢Despite a surplus recorded in March, the cumulative 1Q25 deficit stood at 2.2 trillion rubles ($23.7 billion), equivalent to 1% of GDP. The full-year budget anticipates a 1.2 trillion rubles ($12.9 billion) deficit, or 0.5% of GDP.
🟢Oil and gas revenues declined by 17% y/y in March, while non-oil and gas revenues grew by 10% y/y. For 1Q25 overall, these revenue groups saw respective changes of -10% and +11% y/y.
🟢Federal budget spending rose by 11% y/y to 3.2 trillion rubles ($34.5 billion) in March, returning to seasonal norms and driving the monthly surplus of 500 billion rubles ($5.4 billion).
➖➖➖
Zin Note: Taking into account the low price of oil and the rising Ruble, it's entirely possible that Russia's 2025 deficit could hit 2.5% of GDP. Thanks to the increased demand for Russian bonds, as much as 1.5% of this 2.5% could be paid for through taking on more debt, and the remainder could come from the National Wealth Fund, which currently holds a value of liquid assets amounting to 2% of Russia's GDP. (Another 1% equivalent of Russia's GDP could possibly be raised by selling off non-liquid assets, in an absolute emergency.)
As you can see from the above, as the ruble rises, oil and gas revenue falls, but non oil and gas revenue increases. Oil and gas are priced in dollar equivalents while non oil and gas exports tend to be priced in rubles.
