Real stories of Pascha
"My children and I were on our way from the church at four in the morning. Vanya was eight years old at the time, and it was his first night service on Pascha. The highway. It's getting light. Vanya says disappointedly, “I thought there would be some kind of miracle. I want a miracle so bad!” And then a moose comes out onto the road right in front of us! I was driving slowly, so I managed to stop about 50 meters away from him. He crossed halfway across the highway, stopped and looked at us as if to ask: “Christ is risen! What other miracle do you want, boy?” After standing like that for a short time and giving us a chance to admire himself, the moose slowly walked away into the woods. My son was delighted: 'Mom, God heard me!'"

Why vain thoughts are dangerous. St. Nikodemos the Hagiorite explains:
Concerning these vain and idle thoughts, I say, advise the penitent not to allow his intellect to meditate upon or ponder over them:
1) because just as we have to give an account for idle words on the day of judgment, as the Lord said. (Mt. 12:36)
2) because those vain thoughts deprive us from profitable and salvific thoughts, which we are able to have instead of them; and
3) because these idle thoughts are in themselves evil, as they are the cessation of good and become the beginning of evil, and as giving way and permission to the devil to sow in our idle intellect the tares of evil thoughts.
Thus does Gregory the Theologian confirm this: “May evil and its original cause, the devil, be destroyed. For while we were idle, the evil one planted tares in us (cf. Mt. 13:25), in order that the neglect of good might become the beginning of evil, just as the beginning of darkness is the retreat of light.

St Hesychios The Priest teaches some ways of practical training of humility.
“If we are concerned with our salvation, there are many things the intellect can do in order to secure for us the blessed gift of humility.
For example, it can recollect the sins we have committed in word, action and thought; and there are many other things which, reviewed in contemplation, contribute to our humility.
True humility is also brought about by meditating daily on the achievements of our brethren, by extolling their natural superiorities and by comparing our gifts with theirs.
When the intellect sees in this way how worthless we are and how far we fall short of the perfection of our brethren, we will regard ourselves as dust and ashes, and not as men but as some kind of cur, more defective in every respect and lower than all men on earth.”

There is an illusion among many heterodox that “you better relax and don’t worry, God saved you", enjoy. Sounds like devils’ lies to Eve. This illusion is very dangerous, because people being relaxed don’t even notice how quickly sin occupies their heart.
“Sin closes the spiritual eyes; the thief thinks that God does not see; the fornicator, giving himself up to impurity, thinks that God does not see him; the covetous, the greedy, the drunkard, think that they can hide themselves and their sinful passions.”
St. John of Kronstadt

You know very well what the ancient holy fathers predicted concerning our times. It was said: They will be saved by faith, the endurance of sorrows and illnesses, and repentance. We have no [good] deeds. In everything and always we transgress Christ’s commandments. Therefore, all that is left for us is to repent, endure and believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, who came to seek out and save those who are perishing, will also save us who entreat Him...

What vain thoughts are and how they are corrected. St. Nikodemos the Hagiorite explains:
“Those thoughts which are not profitable unto the purpose and aim of salvation, as much as to our own soul as to that of our neighbor, and do not look to the necessary requirements and constitution of our body, but to the superfluous and more-than-necessary things, even if they are good, I call vain and idle.
According to the Shorter Rules of Basil the Great, “Mental aberration comes from idleness of a mind not occupied in necessary things. For the mind is idle and careless from lack of belief in the presence of God Who tries the heart and reins... He who does this and what is like to it will never dare or have leisure to think of any of those things that do not conduce to the edification of faith, even if they seem to be good.”

“In order not to remember the malice of your neighbor against you, but to pardon him with all your soul, remember, that you, yourself, are not free from malice, as well as from all other passions. Recognize your neighbor’s infirmities and passions as your own...” - St. John of Kronstadt
In fact it often happens that what most displeases us in other people is actually presented in our own soul and we do not notice it.

☦️🌹🕯️The Most-holy Theotokos, the "Life-giving Spring", who bears Christ, commemorated the Friday of Bright Week🌹
🌹Excerpt from the Akathist to the Theotokos, the "Life-giving Spring"🌹
The race of Adam is saved through you, O All-Spotless Pure One, beholding the Savior and Creator unspeakable and supernaturally born from you. Therefore, you move every tongue to utter these in your praise:
Rejoice, honor of the mortal race,
Rejoice, glory of the whole world.
Rejoice, Mariam, the sweetest name,
Rejoice, the meditation of my wretched soul.
Rejoice, for you gave birth to my Savior, Christ,
Rejoice, for you nursed Him Who is the nourishment of all.
Rejoice, for you sprouted from the root of Jesse,
Rejoice, for you were paradoxically born of a barren womb.
Rejoice, the prelude of God's good pleasure,
Rejoice, the cornerstone of our salvation.
Rejoice, for you are she who is called upon by all the faithful,
Rejoice, for you are the help that is sought for.
Rejoice, O water of salvation.

Do not judge, do not judge the higher ones, do not gossip, try to cover sin and not notice it. Say “Who am I to judge, and do I know the inner motives to judge?” Judgment is mostly born of envy and is an abomination.

3) because man never remains in one state, but is so changing and so quickly alters that, with his thoughts, in one instant he is found in Paradise and in another instant he is in hell, as one Saint said. And St. Isaac says: “By the mind we improve, and by the mind we become unprofitable,” hence the one who today has good thoughts may very well have evil ones tomorrow; and
4) the devil has greater envy and wages a fiercer battle against those who have good thoughts, so that he should have more fear and greater care over himself.”

In Orthodox Church we pay much attention to struggle with passions. This is a hard yet very important side of the faith. St. Ambrose of Optina encourages us not to give up no matter what. The way of true faith is not an easy ride, but we know where we go, and it’s worth it.
“You cannot become passionless all at once. But every time you feel your sinfulness say: 'Lord, forgive me!' Only the Lord is able to put love into a person's heart.”

How can the Paschal night be described? How can we express in words its greatness, glory, and beauty? Only by writing out the Paschal service from beginning to end could it be done. There are no other words fitting for this. How can the Paschal moment be committed to paper? What could be said in order to make it understandable and tangible? One can only unfold his arms in perplexity and point to the festively adorned church—“Come and delight…”

St. Nikodemos the Hagiorite in his manual of confession explains important things to remember concerning thoughts. Although he talks to spiritual fathers, it is still useful for everyone to read too.
“in general, all thoughts are of three types: some thoughts are good, some thoughts are vain and idle, and some thoughts are bad.
The Saint advises if one thinks he has good thoughts, one should take care to be humble and to never trust in himself and become prideful:
1) because a person on his own is not able to do a good work or say a good word or even think a good thought without the power and help of God. (2 Cor. 3:5);
2) because the devil is so cunning and evil, that many times he brings evil from good and through good thoughts throws those who are not careful into self-esteem, and conceit, and haughtiness, from which is caused the destruction and death of the soul. (Rom. 7:13);

What Orthodoxy is special for?
☦️ In particular for its verifiable truthfulness. It's possible to speak for long, providing proof from theology, the unchanged holy tradition and practice.
The following is short and striking: the Holy Trinity appeared to St. Alexander of Svir (north of Russia, he's in the icon).
— So what? one could say
— This Saint, after his holy repose, has outstandingly incorrupted relics, for already FIVE CENTURIES, and the atheists, by divine providence, had control over them, did their best to investigate, and could not say a halfword against the fact that they are authentic.

☦️ Pascha is accomplished by the soul when it leaves mental Egypt, i.e. sin. For when the soul passes from sin to virtue, then it makes the Passover to the Lord: the Pascha of the Lord is the passage from evil to good.
