The incredible story of the heroic rescue by drone operators of the 63rd Mechanized Brigade of a Defender from the 60th Mechanized Brigade who was wounded after a Russian drone attack and found himself in a critical situation.
Despite the deadly threat from enemy drones and bombs, Warriors were able to build a makeshift bridge across a swamp out of ladders, boards, etc., pull a wounded brother-in-arms across the river, and save him.

Peace is impossible without Ukraine recognizing Russia's "current territorial borders," Sergey Naryshkin, director of the Russian foreign intelligence service, said.
"The terms of the peace agreement certainly include the non-nuclear and neutral status of Ukraine, the demilitarization and denazification of the Ukrainian state, and thus, the abolition of all discriminatory laws that were adopted after the coup d'état in 2014. And, of course, the recognition of the sovereignty and current territorial borders of the Russian Federation," he said.
This is further proof that Putin is not interested in peace. And Russia's demands just keep growing.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte visited Odesa today together with President Zelenskyy:
"Today, we again spoke about the important talks that President Trump is leading with Ukraine as well as with Russia to try to end the war and secure a durable peace. These discussions are not easy, not least in the wake of this horrific violence [missile strike on Sumy], but we all support President Trump's push for peace.
Other allies, including through efforts led by France and the United Kingdom, are ready, willing, and able to shoulder more responsibility in helping to secure peace when the time comes," he said.

Yesterday, Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine destroyed two expensive Russian Borisoglebsk-2 electronic warfare systems.
The main function of Borisoglebsk-2 is to detect and suppress various communication channels and other systems that use radio signals - C3 systems of a tactical level, including satellite systems, as well as suppression of radio navigation systems.
They were located near Novokamianka village, a temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region. This means that Ukrainian drone bombers conducted a raid across the Dnipro River.

Some news on EU sanctions against Russia and Ukrainian EU membership:
◾️ The EU is preparing the 17th package of sanctions against Russia. European diplomacy chief Kaja Kallas said it should be prepared by the next EU foreign ministers meeting scheduled for May 20.
Brussels does not rule out that it may be adopted in May. The new restrictions will affect the 'shadow fleet,' Russian liquefied gas, and Rosatom.
◾️ As for Ukraine's membership in the EU, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys said he thinks it can be achieved on January 1, 2030, noting that Ukraine is not behind this slowdown.
"This is a problem of one of us [Hungary] who does not see it as a proper thing to do. I am not even going into other reasons why this is happening. We have to be open-eyed and challenge these obstacles. This is crucial for the security of Europe in the future," he said.
◾️ Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said he had again appealed to Hungary to lift its veto on mobilizing nearly €7 billion from the European Peace Facility and to stop obstructing the opening of the first cluster of EU negotiations with Ukraine. But, Sikorski admitted, "It's like talking to a brick wall."
◾️ In Hungary itself, Orbán's main rival, the leader of the opposition Tisza Party, Péter Magyar, said that if his party wins the 2026 election, a referendum on Budapest's support for Kyiv's bid for EU membership will be held. According to a preliminary poll in which 1.1 million people (one in ten Hungarians) took part, 58% of its participants said they were ready to support Ukraine's bid.
The Tisza Party now represents the most serious challenge to the Fidesz party of Hungary's current Prime Minister Viktor Orbán since he came to power in 2010. Orbán himself, who maintains friendly ties with Russia and China, has recently faced repeated accusations of undermining democratic principles, violating judicial independence, and pressuring the media.

A Warrior from the 2nd Battalion International Legion of Ukraine, Edwin, call sign "Thanos," is a professional soldier with ten years of experience in Colombia. Edwin was a border guard, participated in the fight against a local powerful criminal group, and was involved in combat clashes.
When Edwin learned about Russia's full-scale invasion into Ukraine, he decided without hesitation to resign from his service and come to help Ukrainians.
"My relatives were horrified when they heard about it, because the war in Ukraine is much worse than what I faced in Colombia. They still ask me to come back from time to time, but I have faith that I can still help Ukraine," Edwin says.
"Thanos" fought in the Serebrianskyi Forest and in the Pokrovsk direction, Donetsk region. In the course of fierce battles, he gained a reputation as an extremely brave and reliable man and a skilled Warrior.
"I respect any person who takes up arms, because you need to have the willpower to do so. But I don't respect Russians as people for what they are doing in Ukraine. What I like most about Ukraine is that people defend their country with all their hearts," the Warrior says.
"Thanos" is proficient with small arms, working with various assault rifles and machine guns. Many times the legionnaire has participated in difficult missions. The man also actively rescues the wounded and participates in medical evacuations, considering his brothers-in-arms to be his family.

A worldwide drop in oil stocks threatens to leave Russia without funds for waging a war.
Will this make the Kremlin more cooperative on the ceasefire proposal? I'm not sure. Right now, we are in a zone of total uncertainty, but by the end of the summer, things will probably be clearer.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump's tariff policy is causing the global economy to slow down and, as a result, oil prices to fall.
◾️ Since the beginning of April, Brent crude oil has fallen in price by about 20%. The price has fallen below $60 per barrel.
◾️ The price of Russian Urals crude oil has accordingly fallen below $50 - and this may not be the limit yet.
The world market is plunging into a zone of complete uncertainty. Thus, June futures for Brent crude oil fell in price by $4.03 (6.42%) to $58.72 per barrel on the London-based ICE Futures exchange. May futures for WTI fell in price by $4.02 (6.75%) to $55.56 per barrel. Both contracts have hit its lowest since February 2021. According to Western agencies, traders continue to withdraw from risky assets, fearing that the trade war initiated by the U.S. will lead to higher inflation and weaken global economic growth and, consequently, the oil demand.
Another factor affecting the fall in oil prices is OPEC+ plans to increase oil production. In May 2025, OPEC+ plans to accelerate the production increase, increasing it by 411 thousand barrels per day instead of the previously planned 135 thousand barrels. The strategic objective of oil exporting countries is to make it unprofitable to produce shale oil in the USA with very low production costs.
"In a more extreme and less likely scenario with both a global GDP slowdown and a full unwind of OPEC+ cuts, which would discipline non-OPEC supply, we estimate that Brent would fall just under $40 a barrel in late 2026," Goldman Sachs analysts said in a note.
The government of Kazakhstan is already preparing scenarios of budget optimization in case of oil price decrease to $55 and $50 per barrel, said Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Jumanğarin at a briefing in the Mäjilis.
‼️ This is alarming news for Russia. Its 2025 budget, in which oil export revenues play an important role, is approved based on a price of about $70 per barrel of Russian oil. The oil production cost in Russia is about $25, and there are additional costs both for maintaining the 'shadow fleet' and payments to intermediaries under gray payment schemes. Thus, if the oil price drops to $40 and below and stays at this level for a long time, Russia will actually have no funds to continue the 'SMO.'
In late March, it became known that the Central Bank warned the government about the threat of a repeat of a prolonged collapse in oil prices like the one seen in the 1980s that contributed to the collapse of the Soviet Union.
‼️ The deprivation of the 'shadow fleet' will be another additional factor in worsening the situation for Russia, whose oil industry has already been seriously affected by Ukrainian drone raids on refineries and oil terminals. Not to mention the image losses, since the seizure of Russian tankers by the Americans will definitely undermine confidence in the authorities, who have once again demonstrated their inability to protect Russian interests abroad. At the same time, it is not at all clear what resources the Russian authorities have to protect these tankers, especially in such strategically important regions as the Baltic Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. It should be recalled that the German authorities recently confirmed the seizure of the Eventin tanker with $40 million worth of Russian oil, with the Russian authorities unable to prevent this from happening.
In fact, Russia is now simultaneously facing serious economic challenges and, at the same time, an opportunity to end the 'special military operation.' Trump has already expressed his displeasure that Putin is delaying the ceasefire.
