I really admire people who are willing to be humbled.
What I mean by that is.... Often times we cannot see our own dysfunction until it is pointed out to us through an external lens, perspective - by another person.
And when it is pointed out, we all have a couple of options:
- Be humbled and accept that the energy we're giving off may not be received in the way we intended. So instead of blaming the other person for sharing their perspective, we take it on the chin and reflect to see how we might be able to move in a new light, with this information. To become a better person.
Or
- We can become defensive and deflect the "criticism" back towards the person because surely they are wrong and we are right and there's nothing wrong with us because we've been through XYZ and we don't deserve to be "attacked" for it...
Both options are available for the taking. One leads to destruction - of self, of relationships. One leads to healing.

The “news” is like a bonfire.
You can look at it and it has some light to it. It’ll illuminate some things that aren’t near enough to it. But if you stare into it for too long, you’ll start to see things that aren’t really there. AND it’ll be harder for you to perceive what’s right there next to you.
And if you get too close, or lean in too far…you’ll get burned.
Watch it from a safe distance and take breaks.
It’s always consuming everything around it.
