Trump Admits Houthis Showed ‘Bravery’ Facing U.S. Strikes

United States President Donald Trump on May 7 praised the Houthis (Ansar Allah) for their “bravery,” stating that the Yemeni group appears to be committed to a ceasefire reached earlier in the week.

In his first public comments on the ceasefire, Trump said,
“We had a very good outcome with the Houthis. We honor their word. They made a commitment, and we dealt with other countries that are close to them and their surrogates—we honor all of their words.”

The President went on to admit that the Houthis had shown “a great capacity to withstand punishment” during the confrontation with the U.S.

“They took tremendous punishment. You could say there’s a lot of bravery there—it was amazing what they took. But we honor their commitment. They gave us their word that they wouldn’t be shooting ships anymore, and we honor that. Hopefully, that’s over with. Just leave those ships alone,” Trump said.

India Attacks Pakistan With Israeli Loitering Munitions In New Escalation

Pakistan said on May 8 that its military downed 25 Indian loitering munitions across the country, after what it called a “serious provocation” from New Delhi that wounded four soldiers and killed a civilian.

“Debris of Israeli-made Harop drones is being recovered from various areas across Pakistan,” the military said in a statement.

In an earlier statement, Pakistan military spokesman Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that 12 Harop drones had been shot down over Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur, Attock, Ghotki, Gujranwala, Chakwal, and other cities overnight.

The Harop is a loitering munition developed by Israel Aerospace Industries. Loitering munitions are designed to hover or loiter above the battlefield, waiting for targets to be exposed, and attack upon the operator’s command.

Houthis Announce First Attack On Israel After Ceasefire With U.S.

The Houthis (Ansar Allah) in Yemen announced on May 7 that they had launched suicide drones against targets in Israel, in their first attack since a ceasefire agreement with the United States was reached a day earlier.

During the operation against the Houthis, which began on March 15, the U.S. attacked more than 1,000 in Yemen. Over 250 people, including women and children, were killed according to Houthi-run media.

Trump’s decision to end the operation came as Israel resumed its own strikes on Yemen following the May 4 Houthi missile attack on Ben Gurion Airport. Two waves of Israeli strikes hit the country on May 5 and 6, with the second placing Sanaa International Airport out of service.

Photos posted to social networks after the May 7 India strikes on Pakistan seemed to confirm that Pakistani Air Force fighter jets had used advanced Chinese-made PL-15 air-to-air missiles to shoot down multiple Indian Air Force warplanes.

The Pakistani military said that its fighter jets shot down during the attack five Indian fighter jets, including three French-made Rafales, one Russian-made Su-30MKI and one Russian-made MiG-29, inside India, in addition to an Israeli-made IAI Heron combat drone.

Photos that surfaced online later showed the remains of what appears to be a PL-15, confirming the use of the beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile.

The Unknown War

Today, SouthFront shares the 7th part of the series titled “
The World's Greatest Tank Battle”. In July 1943, the largest tank battle in history took place in Kursk. 1000 Soviet and German tanks clashed during the battle.

On the eve of battle, Hitler announced, “Soldiers of the Reich, you must take part in an offensive of great importance, the entire future of the war may depend on its outcome. More than anything, your Victory will show the world that resistance to the might of the German Army is hopeless.”

On July 5, the Germans launched their first offensive with a force of about 1,000 tanks. Many Nazi tanks found their deaths in the first half mile of minefields.

For 50 days the Soviet Army brought the Wehrmacht losses of half a million men, 1,500 tanks, 3,000 guns, more than 3,700 airplanes. At Kursk, the Red Army put an end to the vanity of Hitler and Germany itself. It did not just destroy equipment and troops, it cut short the Nazi dream of a thousand-year Reich.
