Some people have this false idea of church who expect church to cater and serve them the moment they walk through the door.
Church isn’t about you. Church is about glorifying God and serving others, and being established in the faith. Going into church to see what “it can do for you” is a self-centered attitude.
Unless you’re a brand new baby Christian, you’re in church to help others, love others, minister to others, and help each other grow in following the Lord. There will certainly be someone in church that you can look up to, and you might be that person that someone else looks to. The Pastor who pours over scripture for dozens of hours a week preparing sermons knows more than you do. You can learn from someone you have disagreements with.
You never know if there’s a guy in church tormented with going back to an addiction or serving the church more, and you might be the guy to love him and help him choose the right path. There might be a guy who doesn’t feel good enough to be in the house of the Lord for his past sins and God wants you there to encourage him. Don’t walk out so quickly just because the church didn’t change their whole program because you arrived.
