The FDA recalls popular candy in 8 states containing ingredients linked to Cancer
Golden Crop Candy, which was imported from China. Thanks China… you’re so kind.
The dye Acid Red 18 - which is mainly used in manufacturing for dying materials such as leather, plastic, wood medicine and cosmetics - has been banned in the US after studies found that it is linked to hyperactivity and cancer.
The candies were also found to contain the dyes Blue 1 and Red 40, but they were not listed on the product label.
Pretty sick how these candies target children.

The Trump administration plans to take action to remove artificial food dyes from the nation’s food supply, according to a media advisory sent by the US Department of Health and Human Services
The Proposed Phase-Out Plan:
Today, RFK Jr and FDA head Marty Makary announced plans to phase out petroleum-based synthetic food dyes from the US food supply.
• This targets the eight remaining FDA-approved synthetic dyes (e.g., Red No. 40, Yellow No. 5, Yellow No. 6, Blue No. 1, Blue No. 2, Green No. 3). However, this is a plan with a proposed two-year timeline, not an immediate ban effective today.
• State-Level Actions:
Several states have implemented or proposed bans on certain artificial dyes:
—— West Virginia: Enacted a sweeping ban on seven artificial dyes (including Red No. 40) in school foods starting August 2025, with a statewide ban by 2028.
—— California: Banned six dyes (Red No. 40, Yellow No. 5, Yellow No. 6, Blue No. 1, Blue No. 2, Green No. 3) from public school foods starting December 2027.
• Over 20 states are considering similar legislation, reflecting bipartisan momentum.
It’s crazy it will take so long to get known positions out of our food… but I’m thankful to God we are making progress.
