It was a lovely winter's day. A light breeze was blowing and the sun was shining. My friend Martin and I decided to have some fun and go skating on the lake near our cabin. For couple of weeks already, the weather was cold, so the lake was solid frozen. Or, we thought so.
Martin's skating is way better than mine, I asked him to teach me a little.
The time spent with my dear friend, I loved every bit of it. We were having some good quality time, skating for over one hour and learning new thing felt great. Busy enjoying ourselves, we did not notice when we got on the thin ice.
Martin was a little back, as I heard the sudden crack. I turned my head towards the noise and saw him falling into the cold water. I felt like my heart has stopped for a moment. In matter of seconds I recollected myself and rushed back to save him. As I went, I quickly removed my scarf to pull him out with it.
As soon as he was out of the water, we went back for the blankets. Martin was shivering and shaking and I called the emergency services. He was soon taken to the hospital.
Doubt we'll go skating again anytime soon. I'm glad he've got out alive.
