Restoring the Liberation of Palestine, by Ibrahim Mar'i Hamed
The following article, by Palestinian prisoner and national leader Ibrahim Mar’i Hamed, was originally published in September 2023 (prior to Al-Aqsa Flood) in Arabic by the Journal of Palestine Studies (Majallat al-Dirasat al-Falastiniya). We are republishing it in translation in order to advance the project of confronting the isolation of imprisoned Palestinians by the Zionist regime, which seeks to deny the Palestinian and Arab people — and the world as a whole — access to their ideas, thoughts, analysis and leadership.
Ibrahim Mar’i Hamed, from Silwad in the West Bank of occupied Palestine, is one of the most prominent political and resistance leaders of the Palestinian liberation movement currently imprisoned in occupation jails, and like Ahmad Sa’adat, Marwan Barghouti, Abdullah Barghouti, Abbas al-Sayyed, Hassan Salameh, Mahmoud al-Ardah and other leadership figures, the Zionist regime has repeatedly refused to release him in a prisoner exchange with the resistance. He is serving 54 life sentences in occupation prisons, the second highest sentence of all Palestinian prisoners, for leading the Al-Qassam Brigades in the West Bank.

"When Palestinians drafted their solemn founding charters, to which they swore, and often described at the time as the “Bible of the Revolution,” they were liberation charters and nothing else. The original 1964 Palestinian National Charter, written during Ahmad al-Shuqeiri’s leadership, included the term liberation 22 times across 29 articles, excluding any use of the words “free,” “freedom,” or “free people.” The revised National Charter, which updated the earlier version, mentioned the term liberation 34 times in 34 articles. It is striking that neither charter mentioned, or even merely alluded to, the concept of a “state” or “Palestinian state” as a goal the Palestinians sought to achieve. Rather, articles in both charters explicitly and consciously affirmed that no mission superseded that of liberation—even if that mission were an entity or a state.
The process of replacing the sacred goal of liberating Palestine (as its sanctity was literally stated in Article 13 of the Palestinian National Charter, and Article 15 of the Palestinian National Covenant) with other secondary, “less sacred” goals—goals that became subject to possible negotiation—was carried out through a process of “rationalizing” and domesticating the Palestinians. This process relied primarily on beating them down to the point where they would “learn the lesson” well enough to veer and incline toward “realism.”...
The mistake of the Palestinian political thought that leaned toward “realism”—which in many cases resembled passivity—was that it sought to avoid asking the questions that would lead to proper conclusions and answers. If the exit from Jordan made us realize the limits of our strength—or rather the extent of our weakness—then the real, realistic question should have been: What is the remedy for the weak?
The simplified answer is: to become strong!
And the deeper question is: How can we attain the desired strength under the conditions of the current reality of the 20th and 21st centuries? Rather than reinforcing and eternalizing our weakness—as has happened under the logic of “political realism” that emerged after the exit from Jordan and moved only in a single direction..."

The veil has been lifted: the home addresses of Elbit Systems of America’s senior leadership, key architects of death machines used to slaughter children in Gaza, have been exposed. These are not faceless executives. These are individuals who profit from bloodshed, who dine in comfort while Palestinian families are incinerated by their technology. Now, the world knows exactly where the enablers of genocide rest their heads.

🚨 Palestinian Authority Security Forces abducted Professor Azzam Abu Al-Adas in an ambush on his home in Nablus.
An expert in Hebrew affairs and a freed prisoner from zionist jails, Abu Al-Adas is a respected translator, educator, and political analyst. In the last 6 months, he has been summoned and interrogated repeatedly by various wings of the PA Security Forces. In these cases, his wife and six-year-old son with autism were left alone for long hours, despite that the summons was just "to have a cup of coffee."
In previous instances, he and his wife were assaulted by the PA, not only in their own home, but in front of judges and lawyers. He was abducted in 2023 for participating in a march to demand the release of political prisoners held by the PA.

Burned by acid, cigarettes, and chemicals, a prisoner from the Gaza Strip recounts the brutal torture he endured in zionist prisons.
Mohammed Abu Tawila of Shuja'iyya spent over a year in zionist detention and prisons, tortured at every step and transfer, resulting in reduced mobility and vision. Such torture has resulted in the martyrdom of 65 prisoners since October 2023.
Upon his return to Gaza, he found his home destroyed, and he found himself displaced repeatedly.

Today, Riverway Law — through lawyers Fahad Ansari, Franck Magennis of Garden Court Chambers and Daniel Grutters of One Pump Chambers — filed an application in Britain to remove Hamas from the UK's list of "proscribed organisations" under the Terrorism Act of 2000.
This application, which highlights the role of Britain and its responsibility for the Zionist colonization of Palestine and its ongoing genocide, further emphasizes that the criminalization of Palestinian resistance organizations (fully legal and justified under international law) aids and abets genocide in Palestine.
The application includes dozens of expert reports, including one by Samidoun international coordinator Charlotte Kates on Palestinian political prisoners in the liberation struggle. (https://hamascase.com/volume-ii/kates-prisoners/ )

For the third time in a row, the Zionist illegitimate Ofer Military Court renewed the administrative detention order (imprisonment without charge or trial on the basis of a so-called "secret file") against the 14-year-old Palestinian boy, Ammar Sobhi Muhammad Abdul Karim, from the village of Abwein in the Ramallah district, for a period of four months.
The occupation forces abducted the child Abdul Karim on August 21, 2024, after raiding his family's home, blowing up the doors of the house, destroying its contents, and assaulting him by beating and tying him up, before transferring him to Ofer prison. A few days later, he was transferred to administrative detention. Administrative detention orders are indefinitely renewable, and both the detainees and their lawyers have no access to the allegations against them. There are currently over 3,500 Palestinians held under administrative detention, out of approximately 10,000 Palestinian political prisoners in Zionist jails. (excepting a number of Palestinians abducted from Gaza whose names and locations of detention continue to be kept secret by the occupation.)
Ammar is considered the youngest administrative detainee in the occupation's prisons, where approximately 100 children are held under arbitrary administrative detention.

⚫️ Palestinian Islamic Jihad spokesman Mohammed al-Hajj Musa to Al-Jazeera:
—
The fundamental position—whether regarding what is happening in the Gaza Strip or in the West Bank—is that this weapon, for us, is a legitimate weapon. It does not belong to any faction, and no Palestinian has the right to even discuss or negotiate over the issue of the weapon.
This is the right of the Palestinian people, as long as they remain under the burden of this occupation and this criminal aggression. Those who demand the surrender of our weapons, or who go and attempt to take our weapons in the West Bank, are the very same ones who used to ask us, as Palestinians, to throw stones during the height of the Intifada—when we were being killed and had nothing but stones.
The core issue is not the size of the weapon, nor the nature of the weapon, nor its geographical location. The core issue is that they want to strip us of our will and force us to submit to the theft of whatever remains of our lives.
Therefore, the Palestinian resistance—and we, in the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine—say that we will not surrender a single bullet except as a firey bullet directed at the chest of those who try to take even a single bullet from us. We say that this weapon will always be directed at the heart of the occupation. And we will not give anyone the opportunity to even discuss with us the issue of the weapon.
This is the weapon of the martyrs, the legacy of the martyrs.
This weapon is a trust from all those now under the rubble or living in tents.
And this weapon is a trust of the entire Palestinian people—guarded with blood, guarded with souls.

It was over the course of this battle that Mahmoud's name was written in the legends of Palestinian resistance. All factions were united, led by the fearless general. He stated, "This is a battle from which there is no escape." After Mahmoud and his comrades defending the camp ran out of ammo following a 15 day epic, the fighters besieged themselves in a home which the IOF heavily bombed, leading to the martyrdom of Mahmoud and his fellow fighters under rubble, 21 years ago today.
The Iraqi poet Muzaffar Nawab, wrote of Mahmoud in his poem "Jenin:"
To the rubble, glory reaching the stars,
In whose depths they were martyred, standing tall.
Mahmoud leads, with eight of the finest youth,
Defeating the mightiest armies ever told.
An ambush here, and an ambush there,
He turns them into ambushes for one another.
Glory to the hero of Jenin and the icon of revolution!

The dear Azzam Abu Al-Adas was abducted by the Palestinian Authority Security Forces in an ambush on him outside his Nablus home yesterday. Today, his detention was extended for 48 hours, for unknown reasons.
Yesterday, his wife, Omaima Sawalha, wrote that Azzam was kidnapped in front of his home at 10 PM, despite his lack of debts or crimes. Once again, the PA left his wife and children alone. Azzam, a humble man, refuses to receive a single penny for his diligent translation work, as his mission is solely to raise awareness.
On Azzam and their autistic son Abdullah, his wife writes:
—
Azzam always used to tell me: "I would pay my entire life for a second to hear Abdullah repeat a complete sentence and understand it."
Azzam, the serious political analyst, cultured, aware, and unified in all his positions and words, carries on his shoulders the responsibility of educating society about many issues related to history and settlement issues. His followers testify that he translates and conveys events without any partisan bias in any form.
Here you see Azzam, the tender and giving father, who wouldn't even allow me to change Abdullah's clothes, doing it himself with all love.
Does the person who issued the arrest order know that we as a family suffer greatly in coping with Abdullah's illness to stay cohesive? I once told Azzam that I didn't overcome Abdullah's illness through my own strength, but through his support and help with the finest details.
Does the person who issued the arrest order know that half of Azzam's income, which he works day and night for, goes toward Abdullah's treatment, and that Azzam does this with all love because of his attachment to Abdullah?
Azzam, the free analyst, did nothing but transmit news from several agencies and translate and analyze Hebrew news. Note that all of this is his right guaranteed by Palestinian law according to Article 19 of the Amended Basic Law of 2003, which guarantees freedom of expression in speech and writing.
Today Azzam is deprived of his children, and his children are deprived of him. Sham [daughter] asks me a thousand and one questions every minute, and Abdullah searches for him but cannot express his need.
Today, Abdullah faces the risk of a new setback due to his father's absence. Who bears the responsibility of depriving a child of his father who is responsible for his treatment?!

Announcing the martyrdom of wounded prisoner Nasser Khalil Radaideh from Bethlehem in the occupation's prisons.
The second martyr among the prisoners to be announced within four days
4/20/2025
Ramallah - The Civil Affairs Authority, the Commission of Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs, and the Palestinian Prisoners Club reported the martyrdom of prisoner Nasser Khalil Radaideh (49 years old) from the town of Al-Ubeidiya, in the "Israeli" Hadassah Hospital after he was transferred yesterday from Ofer Prison. He had been detained since September 18, 2023, after being injured by bullets fired by the occupation army at the time. He is still detained, adding him to the list of martyrs of the prisoner movement, who have risen as a result of the organized criminality practiced by the Israeli occupation prison system in an unprecedented manner since the beginning of the ongoing genocide.
The organizations said that Radaideh is the second martyr among the prisoners whose martyrdom was announced in the occupation prisons within four days. He is married and the father of seven children. He had stayed in Shaare Tzedek Hospital for a period after his arrest and severe injury, but his health condition had stabilized at the time, according to the information available to the institutions, and according to the visits that took place to him at the time.
With the martyrdom of the prisoner Radaideh, the number of martyrs among the prisoners and detainees since the genocide has risen to (65) martyrs, and they are the only ones whose identities are known in light of the ongoing crime of enforced disappearance, among them at least (40) from Gaza, so that this stage in the history of the prisoner movement and our people is the bloodiest, and thus the number of martyrs of the prisoner movement whose identities are known since 1967 has reached (302) to this day, while the number of martyr prisoners whose bodies are being held has reached (74), among them (63) since the genocide.
The Commission and the Club stressed that the increasing number of martyrs among prisoners and detainees will take a more dangerous turn as more time passes for the detention of thousands of prisoners and detainees in the occupation’s prisons, and as they continue to be exposed to systematic crimes, most notably torture, starvation, assaults of all kinds, medical crimes, sexual assaults, and the deliberate imposition of conditions that lead to their infection with serious and contagious diseases, most notably scabies, in addition to the unprecedented level of policies of deprivation and destruction.
The Commission and the Club added that the martyrdom of detainee Radaideh constitutes a new crime in the record of the brutal Israeli system, which has practiced all forms of crimes aimed at killing prisoners. These crimes constitute another aspect of the ongoing genocide.
The Commission and the Club held the occupation fully responsible for the martyrdom of detainee Radaideh, and renewed their demand for the international human rights system to move forward in taking effective decisions to hold the occupation leaders accountable for the war crimes they continue to commit against our people, and to impose sanctions on the occupation that would place it in a state of clear international isolation, and restore to the human rights system its fundamental role for which it was created, and put an end to the terrifying state of impotence that it has been afflicted with during the war of extermination, and end the state of exceptional immunity that the world has granted to the occupying state as it is above accountability, responsibility and punishment.

The Legend of Jenin.
The commander-in-chief of Saraya Al-Quds.
The General.
Mahmoud Ahmed Tawalbeh. He was born in the lions' den of resistance, Jenin, the wasp's nest in 1979. As the second intifada broke out, he joined PIJ and quickly became one of its fiercest fighters. Mahmoud carried out many shooting operations on settler bypass roads and became a military leader and explosives expert in Jenin, orchestrating a number of martyrdom operations with PIJ and causing great pain to the zionist entity.
At the end of 2001, the IOF pressured the traitorous Palestinian Authority to arrest him. For three days, massive crowds rallied around their resistance to prevent this. The PA then arrested him, and the IOF bombed the prison to kill him. Mahmoud escaped, and the IOF would continue to attempt his assassination a number of times, but they all failed.
In 2002, Tawalbeh led the Battle of Jenin, a 15-day battle that resulted in 60 dead IOF soldiers (although zionist lies claim just 23) and 53 Palestinian martyrs. The target of the aggression was Mahmoud himself. He led fiercely, refusing to surrender. Mahmoud decided to booby-trap the entire camp with explosives, luring in IOF soldiers and leading to the deaths of dozens. When soldiers entered the now-empty homes, he personally threw grenades at them; in one case, he killed four soldiers this way during the battle.
Mahmoud's shrewdness and leadership capabilities are exemplified in one moment from during the battle. He had planned to detonate a 70-kg explosive under an IOF Merkava tank. One fighter asked him, "Why don't we target the bulldozer." "No," Mahmoud replied. "We will plant it under the Merkava because it has more soldiers, and destroying the tank will cancel its sales contracts to countries like Turkey and Japan, which will harm the zionist entity."
