🔲 Yesterday, a powerful explosion in the port of Shahid Rajaee (Bandar Abbas) made this port the central topic of news in the country and the world.

🔲 This event occurred at exactly the same time as indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States began on the coast opposite this port in Oman.

🔲 Regardless of the cause of this tragic incident (the final report has not yet been published), the Shahid Rajaee port, due to its exceptional role and importance in the economy and trade of Iran, is one of the most important hubs and “airways” of the country, especially in the context of sanctions.

🔲 According to official data, Shahid Rajaee Port currently accounts for 82% of the country's total container traffic, 70% of transit and 53% of exports and imports.

🔲 According to the Ports and Shipping Organization of Iran, despite the operation of 24 ports in the country's exports and imports, Shahid Rajaee and Imam Khomeini ports together account for 83% of Iran's maritime trade.

🔲 Of the total 164 million tons of cargo loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports, 53% came from Shahid Rajaee Port, and its share in container cargo exceeds 88%.

🔲 For individual categories of goods: for metals, the share is 82%, for construction and mineral cargoes - more than 60%, and for petroleum products - 54% of the total volume of imports and exports of these products through this port.

🔲 Shahid Rajaee Port also has a unique geographical location: it is in close proximity to the Strait of Hormuz and the entrance to the Persian Gulf, close to major intercontinental shipping routes. In addition, it is located at the intersection of the North-South Transport Corridor, connecting the Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf via Iran to the Caspian Sea, and further through Russia to St. Petersburg and Northern Europe.
