My new house is on .2 acres with a fenced backyard though, so when the dogs are with me they'll have room to run around.
I've always heard that dogs start to settle down between 18 and 24 months of age.

Let me tell you, that's a total lie, at least as far as Penny is concerned. She's even more of a hurricane kangaroo than she was the day we brought her home. I adore her. She's the cutest. But she is A LOT.
The puppies kept me company for part of the time I was packing in my studio yesterday.
I made pretty big progress on the studio packing today. There's a good chance I'll finish tomorrow.
(I am procrastinating.)
This is going to be a bittersweet day.
Today I start packing my art studio.

Almost exactly 6 years ago I begin moving in to my studio. Before it became my studio it served as a workshop for the man who built the house. The walls were lined with some kind of foam insulation. Not a hard surface. EH and I and a helper we hired framed in the walls and hung plywood so my studio could evolve into what it is today.

Before we hung the plywood, we wrote blessings on the foam walls behind:
Life is really lifeing at the moment.

I've been sitting on this information, waiting until the right time to share it. Now is the time, because I'm going to want to share parts of the next phase of my life.

I'm getting divorced. I'm not going to say a whole lot about it, but there are some questions I can anticipate and I'm willing to offer this information.

First of all, I'm fine. Yes, of course it's stressful. This is a huge life change. But I'm OK. I've had months to process this.

I want to note that ex-husband (hereafter abbreviated EH) and I are approaching this very consciously. He's one of my best friends, and it's important to both of us that our friendship be preserved.

I will be moving out of the house we share into a house of my own. He's been helping me with the house hunting, which has been a lifesaver. I'm woefully ignorant on a lot of the things that are important to the house buying process.

I'll be moving soon. The exact timeline isn't certain yet, for various reasons, but unless something unexpected comes up I'm closing on my new house next week. I can't wait to share pictures of what I do with it. I'm already planning at least one mural.

We'll be sharing custody of the puppies. I'm already making plans in my mind about how to set up my home to make room for them. This was also important to us, and getting a fenced backyard was one of the critical elements for my new home.

I will have space for my studio. This was first priority when house hunting. It is a professional necessity.

I'm both nervous and excited about this next chapter of my life. It's a lot of change all at once.

I'm not open to questions about this. I may say more in time. I may not.

What's coming next for me is a grand new adventure.

My new living room is going to be a challenge to furnish. It has a really high ceiling, for starters. It's not super huge, but the doorways and windows into the room along with the high ceiling have me a bit puzzled on how to arrange furniture that I don't even have yet, so I'm experiencing some decision paralysis about what to buy.

I need at least a couch pretty soon, otherwise I only have a couple of arm chairs (that don't match in style or color at all) for seating in that room.

My boss helped her parents decorate their house. She has a passion for interior design.

We have a great relationship. We've spent time together outside of work a couple of times, but you never really know where the limits are with a relationship like that.

I sent her a message on Teams asking if she'd want to help me figure out how to furnish my living room, not knowing how she would respond.

She not only said yes, she said "OMG YES I DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

😂

I love, love, love, love her. I'm so lucky.
