The BNR noted that the inflation rate stopped decreasing in February 2025, stabilising at 5% from an all time low in January when it fell to 4.95%.

🟦🛡🌹 Although Dragoș Sprînceană's statements were bad for Ciolacu, the PSD-PNL-UDMR coalition is rallying to defend him in the face of all the Macronists calling for his resignation.

Former minister of finances and senior PSD member, Adrian Câciu, says that Dragoș Sprînceană is ”entitled to have an opinion” but that ”he should've kept to himself" and that Sprînceană doesn't represent the Romanian government [Marcel Ciolacu].

PNL senator, Vasile Blaga, echoed Câciu, saying that Sprînceană's statements "won't have any effect" on Romanian's international relations. PNL's deputy-president, Ionel Bogdan was not as confident as Blaga, adding that such statements can in fact have negative effects over Romania's international relations.

🏳️‍🌈🇫🇷❌🌹 Emmanuel Macron's puppets in Romania are calling on Marcel Ciolacu to resign after they discovered Dragoș Sprînceană's opinions on the EU, the war in Ukraine and Russia.

Last night, Dragoș Sprînceană made the mistake of calling in on Digi24's broadcast where he started talking honestly. Sprînceană said he doesn't like Macron "like 99% of Republicans", that he doesn't believe the French president is a "good representation of the EU" and that "the values of the EU are different from those of Emmanuel Macron".

Sprînceană then, truthfully, said that Macron wants the war in Ukraine to continue meanwhile the United States seeks its speedy end. Sprînceană reminded that the Romanian-American relations won't improve if Romania continues to take the side of France in world affairs with the Romanian-American millionaire claiming that he wants peace in Ukraine and that Romania should also have the same goals.

Digi24's moderators went into damage control mode to "correct" Sprînceană, falsely claiming that Romania actually wants peace and ”to end the war”. When the moderators told Sprînceană that his position is different compared to that of the Romanian government (true) Sprînceană denied, saying that Ciolacu agreed with him on everything he just said, but in private.

Sprînceană then backtracked, saying that he actually never talked about Ukraine with Ciolacu, and shifted the blame on the acting-president, Ilie Bolojan, reminding that Bolojan, who is a temporary president, continued to engage Romania in the proxy war between the EU and Russia fought in Ukraine. The millionaire added that the Trump Administration is not happy with Bucharest's pro-French stance and that he made efforts to tell Washington to ignore the statements of Romanian politicians until after the May presidential elections.

This interview angered a lot of people who came out asking for Ciolacu's head. First was former president, Traian Băsescu, who rhetorically asked Ciolacu if he's going to send the Tate Brothers to lobby for Romania next, while at the same time calling for his resignation accusing Ciolacu of damaging Romania's international image and undermining the foreign ministry.

Next up was the Save Romania Union is calling on Ciolacu to come to the Romanian Parliament and answer if he and Crin Antonescu are going to "betray" the EU. REPER, the party started by the French citizen, Dacian Cioloș, currently advising Ilie Bolojan, is calling for Marcel Ciolacu's resignation as well citing Dragoș Sprînceană's appearance on Digi24's show.

Lastly, Emmanuel Macron's man in the 2025 presidential elections, the mayor of Bucharest, Nicușor Dan, criticised Ciolacu for sending emissaries to the USA instead of using the foreign ministry calling on Ciolacu to denounce Sprînceană or resign.

🇺🇸❌🇷🇴 Premier Marcel Ciolacu admitted that if he insisted on running for president again in May 2025 instead of supporting Crin Antonescu, the U.S. would not have recognised the results of the 2025 Romanian presidential elections!

In a bizarre moment, Ciolacu admitted live on TV things which probably should have been left unspoken considering that he is the main beneficiary of the Constitutional Court's decision to cancel the 2024 presidential elections, allowing him to remain in power despite being soundly rejected by the people during the vote.

He said that if he or the acting-president, Ilie Bolojan, would have ran for president now, he, Marcel Ciolacu, was convinced the U.S. would not have recognised the results of the May 2025 elections:

"Former president Băsescu said that a particular state [the moderator intervened and named the United States because Ciolacu refused to say which state] would not recognise the results of the elections in Romania.

I think that if I or Mr. Bolojan would have ran for president in these elections, things would have turned out the way Mr. Băsescu said they would.

So, when I and Mr. Bolojan kept away, there should be no problems. Truthfully, the elections in Romania will be organised the same way as before, because this are the duties of the government, to organise, administratively, the elections".

When asked why wouldn't have the Americans recognised the elections if Marcel Ciolacu or Ilie Bolojan had ran for president, Ciolacu admitted:

"In that case, the acting-president or the prime-minister would have benefitted from the decision of the Constitutional Court. Currently, that's not the case".

The moderator pressed Ciolacu to guarantee that Romania's international partners would recognise the results of the May elections, Ciolacu avoided making such a promise, stating:

"I never had problems with elections, I am only responsible with their organisation".

📝: With every slip up, Ciolacu is revealing the chain of events and motivations which led to the events of December 6th 2024. We now know that Marcel Ciolacu intended to run for president again after he cancelled the elections but the criticisms coming from over the Atlantic Ocean, made him think twice.

Now, the strategy he adopted is one of blame-shifting. Every time someone mentions the elections, Ciolacu is always careful to mention that his only attributes in relation to elections are related to the physical organisation, like printing ballots and creating voting sections. He is always careful to remind everyone that asks him about them that the Constitutional Court, not him, cancelled them and that he has not benefitted in any way from their decision.

Despite all of these precautions Ciolacu has taken, the interview for PrimaTV reveals that he is not at all confident that these precautions will result in the whole world, especially, the U.S, moving on from what transpired in December 2024.

🇪🇺🤝🚩 The European Commission admits it has used EU funds that were supposed to "fight climate change" for financing left-wing NGOs and climate organizations with the aim of silencing the voices of European conservatives in a secretive influence operation.

The funds came from the LIFE Program, which is supposed to fund environmental initiatives and has had a total budget of EUR 9 billion since 2014.

The LIFE program is a funding instrument dedicated to environmental, nature conservation, and climate action projects but some of the funds were instead used to attack conservative and eurosceptic voices according to the Austrian newspaper eXXpress.

According to internal documents, the targeted campaigns were designed in cooperation between EU agencies and climate NGOs, including planning which critics would be targeted.

According to the European Commission, changes are now to be introduced to the LIFE program to prevent future excesses.

Guidelines banning subsidized lobbying by EU institutions were already introduced in autumn 2024 - but it is only now that the abuses are being publicly confirmed.

Only a third of organizations and NGOs that received money from the LIFE Program openly disclose their income and how the funds are used, which has led to criticism of lack of transparency.

The former EU Climate Commissioner Frans Timmermans orchestrated the secret contracts with environmental NGOs.

These contracts reportedly included detailed lobbying plans specifying targets and goals. It means that the European Commission provided not just funding but also strategic direction on whom to oppose in a coordinated effort to attack political opponents of the European Commission's climate agenda.

NGOs were instructed to focus on critics of the Green Deal, such as conservative MEPs, national politicians, or parties (Austria’s FPÖ and ÖVP parties are likely among the targets) who resisted stringent climate regulations.

🇷🇴❌🐣 Romania has one of the highest abortion rates in Europe!

According to data collected by Eurostat, in Romania 6.5 children/1000 women are aborted yearly which adds up to ~30k abortions/year or 82 abortions/day.

The latest data is from 2023 and not every country has updated it. Overall this puts Romania ahead of countries like Moldova, who has nearly double the abortion rate at 11.4/1000 women, Georgia, Armenia, Hungary, Estonia, Spain, but behind countries like Germany, Slovenia, Italy, Slovakia etc.

Overall, the abortion rate in Romania has halved since 2014 when it was at 13.6 abortions/1000 women. 2022 represented the year with the lowest amount of abortions, with only 6.2 abortions/1000 women.

Broken down by age groups, women aged 18-34 commit the vast majority of abortions.

🇷🇴🛠🇮🇳🇱🇰🇳🇵 According to official statistics, 310k migrant workers from the Indian subcontinent arrived in Romania in the last three years alone on work visas.

Yet, in January 2025, only 102k of them were appearing in official immigration statistics. Where are these workers disappearing?

Multiple reasons have been given, some migrant workers simply work for a little bit until they gain enough money to be able to afford a train or bus ticket west for Austria or pay a human trafficker to smuggle them somewhere else. Others have signed contracts for one or two years and their contracts having expired means they should have been deported back to their home countries but they evaded deportation and continue to reside and work illegally.

Others simply return home before or after their work contract ends.

Although only 102k migrant laborers still appear on official immigration statistics, the number is way higher, likely double than what is being reported. With the opening of taxi jobs, the number of migrants will only go higher.

The Romanian government wants to approve 100k new work visas for 100k additional migrant workers in 2025.

🟨⛓️‍💥⚡️ AUR co-founder and MEP, Claudiu Târziu, revealed that the party he founded, suspended him from his position as the leader of AUR's leadership council (political bureau of the party), allegedly because he criticised George Simion.

AUR denied suspending Târziu but yesterday, during a regular meeting in the city of Slănic-Moldova in Bacău County, the National Leadership Council (CNC) voted a significant measure:

The CNC declared that elections within the party WILL NOT take place UNLESS, George Simion is elected Romanian president. In other words, AUR has a dictator, George Simion in charge, and unless he is forced by the uncertain possibility of winning the elections, he won't be sharing power in the party with anyone else, even when he loses.

Considering what the AUR party voted yesterday, news of Claudiu Târziu's suspension aren't at all surprising. Târziu is the only dissident figure left in AUR who wasn't kicked out yet and Târziu's future in the party is uncertain considering the disagreements he has with Simion and the overall leadership of the party.

Let's remember that George Simion has been the face of the opposition and of sovereignism in Romania since from 2020 to 2024 and lost the presidential elections with under 14% of the vote. He posted ads with himself all across the country, went on TV, he livestreamed on Facebook and TikTok, and he got beaten by Călin Georgescu, who won 23% and was exclusively on TikTok.

Despite this humiliating defeat considering that most of the country didn't know who Georgescu was until after November 24th 2024, Simion, against Târziu's better judgement, is trying again to become president of Romania even though he was soundly rejected last November.

Perhaps worst of all, knowing he got defeated in November and pretty much certain that he will lose again this May, Simion forced the party to adopt a resolution which declares that he will not be forced to step down as AUR president in case of another electoral defeat.

Continuing to be cynical, let's be honest, if Simion had a real chance of winning the elections, he would not have been allowed to run for president. They would have booted him the same way they did with Călin Georgescu. They allowed him to run because they know Simion will never have the same pull as Georgescu had, especially considering that the weak candidates the system offered last year, have been replaced by more competent figures. Simion knows this, that's why his party adopted a resolution which says he won't be sanctioned if he loses again.

In his stubbornness and greed for public office, Simion is sabotaging the sovereignist movement by continuing to promote himself after he was already rejected at the vote. If he really wanted to win, he would have taken a backseat and let someone else run for president, he would have conserved himself, as Târziu suggested, for future elections.

🇷🇴🙏🇺🇸 — 🇷🇴📰 InPolitics | Laughing stock of the world: the real story of Ciolacu's emissaries at Trump's doorstep

Premier Marcel Ciolacu shocked everyone yesterday with the announcement that he sent two special emissaries on behalf of the Romanian government who were going to travel to Trump's residence and establish contacts with high level officials in the Trump Administration. No one knew, initially, who these emissaries were, no one knew how "official" their mandate was, who were they going to meet, no one knew anything.

Today we've learnt everything: the super-mission of the two super-agents of the government fell apart thanks to a flat tire. And no, this is not a joke although, Romania and its leadership leave behind the impression that we are living in a huge sitcom.

In short: Ciolacu announced everyone about this super-mission to Mar-a-Lago: "That's how they work. I, the premier, have someone whom I sent to the US. He landed yesterday, he has meetings at Mar-a-Lago. We are changing our approach, we are trying to leave this bubble which doesn't work anymore. The Trump Admin works differently".

A short time later, we receive another shock: one of the emissaries, the most important one, is the controversial Romanian-American businessman, Dragoș Sprînceană. So what happened yesterday at Mar-a-Lago where the grand discussions were supposed to take place?

It was the yearly Gala of American Patriots, an event where important Republican politicians attend and where they crowdfund for various causes by selling MAGA hats, shirts etc. The attendees are buying tickets, which are on several levels and attend a reception at Trump's personal resort, Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach Florida.

At the event, the American president was expected to attend as well as the Argentinian president, Javier Millei. There, Romania's emissaries were gambling on taking a picture with Trump, sending it to Ciolacu and then to the press to claim that they've made contact with the US. Faith had other plans though:

Indeed, Trump left Washington D.C. for Florida on the presidential helicopter, Marine One, which suffered a flat tire on the Miami Int'l Airport. As a result, Trump needed a new helicopter which resulted in a delay and he MISSED the gala where the Romanian emissaries were expecting him.

The American press is reporting that Trump never planned to attend the Gala at Mar-a-Lago, instead he wanted to play golf at his golf course in Doral Miami. The Argentinian president, Javier Millei, came out the worst out of the whole ordeal. He attended the gala, he was awarded a prize but he wanted a picture with Trump because he is currently negotiating a set of loans with the IMF and a picture with Trump may have swayed the IMF in Millei's favor.

When Millei learnt of the failure of his trip, he and his staff decided to end it and return to Argentina. The organisers of the gala claimed that Trump attended but Millei's entourage contested this claiming Trump arrived very late, at 11 PM in Florida when the majority of the guests left.

Millei didn't leave empty-handed though, he returned to Buenos Aires with a picture of him and Romania's super-agent, Dragoș Sprînceană. From other pictures of the event, we found out that Ciolacu's other emissary was former PSD spokesman and former president of the Buzău County Council, Lucian Romașcanu, a family friend of Ciolacu.

Sprînceană got pictures with the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, who suspended our visas and with Mrs. Kimberly Guilfoyle the U.S. ambassador to Greece. These are the results of Ciolacu's top diplomats. Romania's future is "completely changed", our brave premier fixed the situation.

For the perfect ending, the morning after the gala, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is looking into Dragoș Sprînceană's businesses. The news was posted by the Stiripesurse site, who deleted it a few hours later. As we've said before, Romania, a huge sitcom".

The organisers hoped to surpass Călin Georgescu and AUR's protests who were gathering up to 100k people.

Meanwhile, the NGOs Declic and Corupția Ucide, with hundreds of thousands of EURs from the European Commission, couldn't mobilise more than 1000 people on a warm weekend day, meanwhile Călin Georgescu was able to gather a couple thousand people on a workday to come and support him when he was arrested, when he submitted his candidacy.

🇷🇴⚔️🌹 Last night, a spat between former president, Traian Băsescu and premier Marcel Ciolacu, broke out on Facebook.

The fight was started by Băsescu who held Ciolacu responsible for burying Romania under a mountain of debt, for causing interest rates to spike, for failing to implement the National Resilience and Recovery Plan (PNRR), for making Romania a country ”not worth investing in”, for destroying rule of law, for failing to organise free & fair elections, for isolating Romania diplomatically and for ruining the relationship with the US. He told Ciolacu that the last good thing he can do for the country is resign.

This upset Ciolacu who lashed out, holding Băsescu responsible for the global economic crisis of 2008-2011 when the Romanian government at the time, led by Emil Boc cut salaries and increased the taxes, Ciolacu mentioned the fact that most of Băsescu's close family went to prison for various crimes, he called out Băsescu for being the biggest American stooge Romania ever saw and accused him of stealing votes during the 2009 presidential elections, notably lost by a very slim margin by Mircea Geoană, PSD's candidate at the time. Ciolacu addressed Băsescu with ”Petrov” that being his Securitate-given codename as Traian Băsescu was proven to have worked as an informant for Nicolae Ceaușescu's secret police.

This is where the comedic part begins: Băsescu comments on Ciolacu's post, reminding him that holding him accountable for the measures against the global economic crisis of 2008-2011 were taken by Emil Boc, the premier, Boc who is now an ally of Marcel Ciolacu supporting Crin Antonescu's campaign, Băsescu then says he doesn't understand what Ciolacu wants to convey by mentioning the legal troubles his relatives had and calls on him to resign again.

Ciolacu responds saying: "Comrade Petrov, I thought you knew that a captain never abandons his ship during a storm [Traian Băsescu used to be a ship captain before politics]",

to which Băsescu replies:

"Mr. premier, captains have a college degree and a licence. You sir do not even have proof of graduating high school nor a licence. Not to mention that a captain who completed his studies would have never steered his ship into a storm".

🇷🇴🚫🗣 National Audiovisual Council (CNA) board member, Mircea Toma, insults the majority of the Romanian people calling them "muppets" and "idiots" for supporting Călin Georgescu!

In a very long interview, Toma claims that Russia has "been creating a database" since 2017 of all the "stupid people" in Romania and "is using them for nefarious purposes". He says that the pandemic was the "event" that activated these "sleeper cells" as Russia wanted to find out who the "retards" are and give them a platform to "sow distrust in authentic sources of information [government and the "independent" press]".

Toma claims that when he saw the popular uprising against the directives of the World Health Organisation and the Romanian ministry of health he "began thinking that something is off", that the popular discontent was "fake", artificially created by "organisations" who then used this public later to support Călin Georgescu and other nationalist parties and figures like AUR, George Simion, POT and Anamaria Gavrilă.

Near the end Mircea Toma calls the "ultraconservative" sections of Romanian society, "racist", of "hating minorities" and "ready to carry out executions in the name of freedom of speech". He adds that it is "very bad" that Romanians can now use the term "Gypsy" in public instead of "Rroma" and then he goes on to complain how everyone he doesn't like is a Putinist and goes on a tangent about how much he hates America and Donald Trump.

According to the law regulating the CNA, Law 504/2002, the CNA must have politically neutral members on its board who must abstain publicly from any and all sorts of political statements that could favor a party or candidate. And here is Mircea Toma calling everyone he doesn't like dumb and retarded. Perhaps it is no wonder that the only TV station that was fined in recent months was Realitatea Plus the only television that supported Călin Georgescu for the smallest of violations, meanwhile all other TVs were free to tell the most deranged things imaginable and get away with it.

🇷🇴⛈⚡️ Klaus Johannis is depressed!

Anonymous sources say that the former Romanian president has become depressed following his sudden resignation early last February. They say that he has become secluded in his villa, never leaving before the evening and always walking surrounded by guards, afraid of making eye contact with any locals of fear of being held accountable for his last years as president.

The same sources say that what hurt Johannis the most was Marcel Ciolacu kicking him out of his 9 million EUR villa in the rich Aviatorilor Neighbourhood in Bucharest and sending him back to Sibiu, his birthplace with a villa not at all to the former president's liking.

Speaking to the state news agency, AGERPRES, Jucan, said about the censorship of well-known journalist, Marius Tucă, who was censored on YouTube because he referred to the cancellation of the 2024 presidential elections as a "coup d'etat", Jucan told AGERPRES:

"Politicians can say whatever they want. We are talking about the law, about deontology, about the European Convention on Human Rights, and about the duties Mr. Tucă has as a journalist. If Mr. Tucă was working at car workshop somewhere in Dristor and made a video in which he said ”these guys made a coup”, it would have been different. But as long as the journalist, not the car mechanic, the journalist, Marius Tucă, makes this statement, a statement which can be factchecked (...) the statement is false because the Central Electoral Bureau (...) made a decision, later validated by the Constitutional Court, which could not have been a coup because the state cannot coup itself".

Jucan would add that if Tucă had rephrased his statements to pass them as his opinions, the CNA may not have deleted his 3 minute TikTok and YouTube clip.

"Former president Băsescu said that a particular state [the moderator intervened and named the United States because Ciolacu refused to say which state] would not recognise the results of the elections in Romania.

I think that if I or Mr. Bolojan would have ran for president in these elections, things would have turned out the way Mr. Băsescu said they would.

So, when I and Mr. Bolojan kept away, there should be no problems. Truthfully, the elections in Romania will be organised the same way as before, because this are the duties of the government, to organise, administratively, the elections".

When asked why wouldn't have the Americans recognised the elections if Marcel Ciolacu or Ilie Bolojan had ran for president, Ciolacu admitted:

"In that case, the acting-president or the prime-minister would have benefitted from the decision of the Constitutional Court. Currently, that's not the case".

The moderator pressed Ciolacu to guarantee that Romania's international partners would recognise the results of the May elections, Ciolacu avoided making such a promise, stating:

"I never had problems with elections, I am only responsible with their organisation".

🌹❌🌹 Ex-premier, Victor Ponta, reacted after his exclusion from the Social Democratic Party saying:

"I care about the voters of PSD, voters who are being humiliated and ignored! I fight and care for them but, unfortunately, PSD's leaders sold them to the arrogant boyars in PNL, to the hidden mafias and Johannis' system!

I will represent them with dignity and honor just as before. I am convinced that PSD's electorate will come and support me because they now have someone to vote for. Together we will able to put Romania first!"

📝: Ponta is trying to tear PSD in two and he may very well succeed in this pursuit.

🇺🇸❌🇷🇴 HotNews was able to get a response from the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) which confirmed the news that the US is reassessing the Visa Waiver program for Romania.

The DHS also said that it is because of the Trump Administration's "focus on national security". This potentially means the U.S. sees Romania and Romanians as a national security threat.

No one in the Romanian embassy in Washington D.C., the Romanian MFA or the Romanian government were informed about this change, somewhat confirming previous rumours that the current regime in Bucharest has virtually no contact with the Trump administration

According to the initial decision of the DHS to lift visa requirements for Romanian citizens, the visa restrictions were to end for good on March 31st, 2025. So this "review" definitely comes at an odd time.

The Romanian MFA released statements claiming that lifting visa requirements for Romanian citizens "increases border security of the U.S" and that the U.S. cannot go back on the decision to lift the Visa Waiver program because it has a Strategic Partnership with the U.S.

The Romanian embassy in the U.S. dismissed the information as false because, as it claims, it has "permanent contact" with American authorities and that "there is no official statement making such claims". The embassy sought to remind that Romania fulfilled its obligations under the program so the U.S. isn't contractually allowed to backtrack.

There is still more time for new appeals to be made.

🌹📱⚡️ After a period of unusual silence, premier Marcel Ciolacu, wrote on Facebook, now that the only man capable to oust him is gone:

“(…) the fact that those unhappy with the decision of the Constitutional Court protested peacefully means we can finally return to a normal society where everyone has the right to express his opinion”

In other words, Ciolacu can finally sigh a breath of relief that there is no more opposition to him.

Those that stood silent will be handsomely rewarded by Ciolacu when he raises every single tax in the tax code because he bankrupted the country in the last two years.
