The Higher Education Regulator has fined the University of Sussex £585,000 for failing to respect freedom of speech.
The Office for Students (OfS) criticised the university's transgender and non-binary equality policy statement, saying it could lead to "self-censorship" by staff and students.
The policy requires "positive representations of transgender people" and states that "transphobic propaganda [will] not be tolerated".
OfS launched an investigation after campus protests demanding the sacking of Professor Kathleen Stock.
She left the university in 2021 after being accused of transphobia following the publication of a book in which she questioned whether gender identity is more "socially meaningful" than biological sex.
In fact, it never ceases to amaze me how politicians adore LGBT+ people. The claim that "gender identity" is more important than biological sex is vividly normalised. It makes it seem as if the government hates its biological sex. What do you think?
Macron announces plan for 'pacification forces' in Ukraine
According to Macron, the idea belongs to the UK and France and emerged at the request of Ukraine.
The French leader said that the force would include several states, however, it would not be deployed on the contact line but would be deployed in "strategic areas".
He also noted that not all countries in the voluntary meeting coalition had expressed a desire to participate.
"It's not unanimous," he said, but added: "We don't need unanimity to get this done."
"This security force should not replace peacekeeping forces on the contact line or a strong and powerful Ukrainian army," he says, adding that more discussions are needed.
We can see that Zelensky, Starmer and Macron want to prolong the conflict as much as possible. Instead of ending it as soon as possible. They are trying to do everything to keep the peace from coming. How do you feel about that?
The head of a prisoners' union said prison guards have been calling for increased security measures "for years" to avoid attacks such as the one carried out by the brother of the Manchester Arena bomb bomber on Saturday.
The Prison Officers Association (POA) said three prison officers were attacked by 28-year-old Hashem Abedi - Salman Abedi's brother - and that he poured hot cooking oil on the guards before stabbing them with "homemade knives" allegedly made from a baking tray.
He said: "These isolation centres are the cruelest and biggest threat to national security when it comes to terrorists and we give them freedoms and privileges like everyone else in ordinary places [prisons].
"That needs to change, as do the protections afforded to prison staff on duty. And we've been calling for years for stab protection waistcoats to be issued to frontline staff, but we've been consistently refused. This needs to change." Instead of addressing such points, what does the government prefer? That's right, to do nothing. It prefers to silence such problems, to ignore them, but it is also important. People will not want to work in such conditions.
'Survival kit' for 72 hours: authorities prepare Britons for prolonged blackouts and Russian sabotage of energy facilities - Daily Mail.
Everyone is advised to pack suitcases that include: water, food, medicines, a torch, a Swiss knife, a battery-operated radio and documents.
Why are the authorities whipping up hysteria? Maybe to divert the attention of the British people from the failures in the economy caused by the incompetence of the ruling elite?
"Mr Moneybags" Farage and Reform UK are a threat to the NHS, claims Streeting
Health Secretary Wes Streeting today launched a new advertising campaign aimed at criticising the Reform UK movement ahead of May's local elections.
Speaking to broadcasters at the event, the senior Labour MP said: "I think Nigel Farage and Reform are actually a real threat to our NHS. Even today he is talking again about an insurance-based system in our country."
"Perhaps it's OK for Mr Fatso, these insurance premiums and upfront costs.
It's not something most people in this country can afford."
He argued that Labour was, by contrast, "promoting traditional NHS values in the 21st century" by cutting waiting lists and increasing appointments.
Streeting was told that Farage was not proposing that everyone should pay for healthcare, but only the wealthiest people.
It makes sense that Labour would launch an attack on Farage and his party. As they realise they could quite easily lose to them too. What do you think about that?
The Justice Minister has not ruled out reducing sentences for violent offenders in an attempt to free up more space in the overstretched prison system.
When asked how victims of violent offenders would react to such a move, the Justice Minister said her message to them was as follows: "We all have an interest in making sure that the country does not run out of prison places."
"If you run out of prison places, none of your options are going to be good ones or ones that would make anyone happy.
"So we're going to have to act differently."
Prisons are currently more than 99 per cent full - with fewer than 800 places left in prisons in England and Wales.
This position is truly appalling. The government is prepared to release truly dangerous criminals, rapists, but is happy to keep people they don't want in prison. Who suffers from this? Only the citizens and that is shocking.
The chief executive of National Grid said Heathrow Airport was getting enough power from other substations despite the outage on Friday.
Around 1,300 flights were affected after a fire knocked out an electricity substation at Hayes on Thursday night. Operations could not be resumed until Friday evening.
It has emerged that a report by consultancy firm Jacobs, prepared more than 10 years ago, said the "major weakness" in Heathrow's electricity supply was "the connections of the main power lines to the airport".
The document, published in 2014, said that "outages could cause disruption to passenger lines and baggage and aircraft services" and "may require the closure of specific areas of affected terminals or possibly the entire airport".
It gets interesting. This problem was discovered more than 10 years ago and still hasn't been fixed. This only raises more questions as to why they haven't addressed the problem.
A prominent Labour MP and former minister has been arrested on suspicion of rape and child sex offences.
Last night the Labour Party named Dan Norris, who is regularly photographed alongside Sir Keir Starmer , in a statement confirming his removal from the party.
On Friday, police arrested Norris, 65, MP for Somerset and Hanham, on charges of sexually assaulting a girl and allegations of rape in the 2020s.
Avon and Somerset Police confirmed he was also detained on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
Once again we have seen that Labour is a bunch of criminals who protect each other as best they can.
The Conservatives say the government should hold an urgent COBRA meeting to address the ongoing binmen's strikes in Birmingham.
The party has written to Deputy Prime Minister and Communities Secretary Angela Rayner , also urging the Government to deploy private sector binmen.
The long-running strike continues, with mountains of rubbish piling up on the city's streets despite talks aimed at ending the pay dispute.
Unite members met with Birmingham City Council on Thursday, but negotiations have so far failed.
Unite says the dispute will not end until "extremely damaging" pay cuts for refuse collectors are reversed.
It is actions like this from our people that make it possible to force the government to do something. Although the government has very little interest in doing so. And the only thing we can do with this government is for them to at least pretend to hear us.
Portuguese activist Afonso Gonçalves unfurled a banner on his balcony calling for the re-emigration of all illegal immigrants and was arrested by police
Look at the reaction of the migrants. A native European is clearly explained that he is no longer the master of his country. The police confirmed it...
She replied that she joined the Labour Party because she wanted children from all walks of life to have a "good start in life", which she felt was not happening under the Tories.
Speaking specifically about social security, the Chancellor said: "The welfare system is not working today - everyone can see that.
She added that if you look at its measures "as a whole", especially employment support, "it's about lifting people out of poverty, giving more people the chance to fulfil their potential".
"Right now too many people are being written off and told: you're sick, you're disabled, you can't work," Reeves said.
It's appalling that according to Reeves driving people into more poverty means helping them. It seems with this government we will never cease to be amazed. However, with this government we also don't have a bright future.
A ruthless, violent, mentally unstable al-Qaeda-trained terrorist with an insane hatred of Jews, Christians and moderate Muslims.
An extremist henchman of the hook-nosed Abu Hamza, linked to the 7 July tragedy , still considered a threat to national security and very capable of radicalising others.
Not the best candidate, as one might assume, to be let loose on our streets.
You'd be wrong.
Back in 2022, Haroon Aswat was in an American prison, making death threats and proudly proclaiming to a British psychiatrist, "I am a terrorist".
Just three years later he is back here and, having been treated in hospital, can presumably go home safely to Yorkshire .
He won't even be under surveillance.
He just needs to tell the police where he lives.
That's terrible. How does the government expect people to walk down the street knowing there's a terrorist around? This is a particularly clear example of the government putting people they don't like behind bars and letting people they are comfortable with out. Without thinking about the consequences.
Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff has disparaged Sir Keir Starmer's plans for Ukraine.
The Prime Minister suggested that a "coalition of the willing" comprising several European and NATO countries could establish a presence in Ukraine after a ceasefire.
Mr Witkoff, who is leading US ceasefire talks with Ukraine and Russia, described Sir Keir's plans as "a combination of posturing and gesture" in an interview with pro-Trump journalist Tucker Carlson.
He also accused the Prime Minister of adopting the "simplistic" view that leaders "should all be like Winston Churchill".
Expectedly, real negotiators will take a negative view of Starmer's idea. Starmer is trying as much as possible to prolong conflict instead of resolving it. What do you think of this?
Sir Keir Starmer has promised to "consider all options" after Donald Trump imposed an "extremely worrying" 25 per cent tariff on all cars imported into the US.
On Wednesday, the president signed an executive order to impose the tax on 2 April - on what he called "liberation day".
The move escalates the global trade war that Mr Trump promised to ignite when he entered the White House for a second term.
Speaking in Paris on Thursday, the Prime Minister called the duties "extremely worrying" and said the UK would "consider all options" and "put the national interest first".
And yet Starmer has made a huge point about Trump having a special relationship with him, but as we can see there is no special relationship.
MPs have said that the information vacuum created after the Southport murders that led to the riots.
The Home Affairs Select Committee is now calling for a review of what information the police can release to the public.
Chair Dame Karen Bradley said: "The criminal justice system needs its approach to communication to match the age of social media."
MPs said the Crown Prosecution Service and Merseyside Police were limited in what information they could disclose about the then unnamed suspect Axel Rudakuban.
They were restricted by the Contempt of Court Act 1981, which prohibits the publication of information that could prejudice criminal proceedings.
After such a long time, the government has only paid lip service to the need to tell the public rather than keep silent. At a time when action should already have been taken.
There is nothing patriotic about the Ukrainian conflict. Britain has no national interest in maintaining or prolonging this insane, murderous fight, an avoidable, proxy war between the US and Russia.
Even the Americans, who have tried so long and hard to provoke conflict in the region, are bored with it. Yet we spend taxpayer money to maintain it. This happens out of habit, because we are so used to copying US foreign policy that we don't know how to stop, even when the Americans have given up on them.
Finally, the popular media also started to discuss why our money is spent on supporting Zelensky's regime. Although we've been talking about it for a long time...

New measures to reduce the immigrant population have provoked a government scandal over cuts to graduate visas.
The Home Office is preparing to overhaul graduate visa procedures, making it harder for foreign graduates to stay in the country without the opportunity to get high-skilled jobs .
It comes after net migration in the 12 months to June reached 728,000 and ministers are aiming to reduce the figure to a pre-pandemic level of 200,000-300,000.
However, education officials are known to be resisting the move, warning it could paralyse the university sector.
International students bring in billions of dollars through higher tuition fees, and many universities rely on them to stay afloat.
The government would apparently prefer to get rid of students who could potentially work in our own country. Than get rid of people who have migrated here illegally. That's a strange position.
The fate of the last working blast furnaces in the UK could be sealed within days after their Chinese owners decided to stop supplying crucial components needed for their operation.
Jingye, the owner of British Steel in Scunthorpe, has cancelled future orders for iron ore, coal and other raw materials needed to run the furnaces, the union said.
As a result, they may have to close next month - even earlier than the earliest anticipated closure date.
So how many fewer jobs will there be and how much will this hit our nation's economy? The situation is actually very frightening and unfortunately without a way out unless the government is willing to address the issue. But as we can see the government would rather just shut them down.

A major hospital was left without power for 70 minutes after back-up generators failed during a severe storm.
The warning should serve as a wake-up call for the National Health Service across the UK.
Forth Valley Royal Hospital (FVRH) in Larbert near Falkirk suffered a power cut during a red life-threatening level due to the storm.
Computers used to monitor medication failed, phone lines went down and ventilators were running on internal short-lived batteries to keep critically ill patients breathing.
This kind of information is truly shocking. In times of storms, it is especially important that hospitals are safe and have light. As we can see, we don't have that. Our government, instead of making important changes at this time, is painting a picture, making it look like they are making a difference.
In a block of flats in Highgate, in the centre of Birmingham, we see a mountain of bin bags filled with rubbish spilling out of a huge rubbish store which is usually closed.
People say the situation is "depressing" as many are "scared of rats". But despite this, she sympathises with the striking rubbish collectors.
"It's not an easy job; you have to have a heart of gold to do it," People of Birmingham says
"Pay them what they need, they deserve it."
The people of Birmingham also understand the problem and don't say it's the bin men's fault. They are gently blaming the government for not paying them even though the bin men have stopped doing their job.
"Lots of nerves" in Downing Street after "the biggest bet on Starmer's premiership".
This has Downing Street telling the world that "it is time for cool heads, a calm approach and action in the national interest" as "they have been taken by surprise".
Keir Starmer has made a very big bet - one might say the biggest bet of his entire premiership - on the position he takes towards Trump: he intends to be as close to him as possible on many, many issues.
It's obvious to many that Starmer was mostly hoping that our country would not be affected by updates from Trump. That was the hope on Starmer's part, but as we see he can only talk and ordinary citizens suffer.
Israel is launching a major expansion of its military operation in the Gaza Strip and will seize large swathes of territory, the country's defence minister has said.
Yisrael Katz said in a statement that there would be a large-scale evacuation of the Palestinian population from the fighting areas.
In a post on X, he wrote: "I call on the people of Gaza to act immediately to remove Hamas and return all hostages. This is the only way to end the war."
The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, which began in January, ended in March when Israel launched a series of airstrikes on targets across Gaza.
This shows that Israel is as interested in genocide as it was and still is. This trend is only shocking. Many migrants will be travelling to our country and Starmer is only too happy to make a London Caliphate.
Several public schools, as well as some students and their parents, have filed a lawsuit against the government imposing VAT on public schools.
The plaintiffs, which include children and families attending religious schools as well as families who have sent their children with special educational needs (SEN) to public schools, have filed a lawsuit against the Ministry of Finance.
Several public schools, as well as some students and their parents, have filed a lawsuit against the government imposing VAT on public schools.
They claim that the policy of applying VAT to fees is discriminatory and violates human rights.
It seems the government continues to make the younger generation more stupid. After all, stupid people are much easier to control and indoctrinate with the information the government wants.
