I’ve spent the last 24 hours finishing two projects that I had a lot of trouble with. I put them aside for several weeks to work on other things until my patience returned.
The first is a small evening handbag on a metal frame. The fabrics and the zipper are thrifted while the frame is new. Just big enough for the items you need on your date night. The purse has to be hand stitched to the frame and I don’t like doing that so I kept putting it off.
The second is a medium-sized carpet bag, also made from thrifted fabrics. I made several mistakes on this, but decided in the end that the mistakes make it look more “seasoned”. 🤗 (Don’t stream your fabric without testing a piece first!)
These styles of fabrics remind me of my grandmother (your great-grandmothers, because you’re probably half my age). I’m attracted to the vintage, handmade, Victorian looking fabrics.
I like to think that I saved these materials from being forgotten and made them into items that someone will love and use.
