US President Donald Trump on Friday called for a rapid ceasefire agreement between Russia and Ukraine, underscoring rising frustration within his administration over what officials see as stalled and unproductive negotiations.

His remarks came shortly after Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a warning that the United States may pull out of the peace process if progress remains elusive.

"Yeah, very short," Trump said when asked to clarify expectations around a ceasefire timeline. "No specific number of days, but quickly. We want to get it done," he added, expressing confidence that a deal may be imminent.

Trump dismissed speculation that Russia is taking advantage of the US in these negotiations. "Nobody's playing anybody. We are going to see if we can get it [ceasefire] done. I think we have a really good chance of getting it done, and it's coming to a head right now," he told reporters.

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza is worsening at an unprecedented rate, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned on Friday.

According to the agency, more than 90,000 forcibly displaced Palestinians are currently sheltering in 115 UNRWA-run facilities, as Israeli bombardment and a crippling blockade continue to escalate the catastrophe.

UNRWA highlighted that the ban on the entry of humanitarian aid and commercial supplies, ongoing since March 2, has significantly deepened the suffering of civilians in Gaza. The blockade has further deteriorated both living conditions and access to healthcare across the Strip.

Iran has expressed openness to curbing aspects of its uranium enrichment program, but only if the United States offers binding guarantees that US President Donald Trump will not again abandon a future nuclear accord. A senior Iranian official conveyed this position to Reuters on Friday, just ahead of a second round of indirect US-Iran negotiations set for Saturday in Rome.

"Iran understood in indirect talks in Oman that Washington doesn't want Iran to stop all nuclear activities, and this can be a common ground for Iran and the US to start a fair negotiation," the official told Reuters.

In a written response, Harvard stated it had already complied with federal disclosure laws. "The University will not surrender its independence or relinquish its constitutional rights," President Garber later declared in a public statement, affirming that no government should determine its academic policies or institutional priorities.

The Trump administration has significantly escalated its campaign against Harvard University, demanding a comprehensive disclosure of its foreign financial relationships dating back a decade, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday.

In a letter addressed to Harvard President Alan Garber, the Department of Education's Office of the General Counsel alleged that the university submitted "incomplete and inaccurate" records concerning foreign gifts and contracts between 2014 and 2019.

"Today's records request is the Trump administration's first step to ensure Harvard is not being manipulated by, or doing the bidding of, foreign entities," said US Secretary of Education Linda McMahon.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, 39 Palestinians were killed by Israeli occupation forces over 24 hours, while an additional 73 people were injured.

The Ministry noted that civil defense and ambulance crews are still unable to reach many victims trapped under the rubble or lying in the streets, due to the ongoing intensity of Israeli attacks.

Since the start of the Israeli genocide on Gaza on October 7, 2023, the death toll has surged to 51,065, with 116,505 wounded.

The Ministry also reported a sharp escalation in recent weeks, with 1,691 Palestinians killed and 4,464 injured since March 18, 2025, after "Israel" broke the ceasefire agreement and resumed wide-scale air and ground operations across the Strip.
Dr. Ahmed Dhair, a forensic pathologist in Gaza, has confirmed that 15 medics and rescue workers were intentionally executed by IOF in Rafah this March.

Dr. Dhair revealed that most suffered bullet wounds to the head, chest, back, and abdomen, along with injuries from explosives or “butterfly” bullets, designed to shatter inside the body, and fragmentation rounds.

The victims and their vehicles were later found buried in a sandy mass grave, with the UN concluding that the medics appeared to have been “executed one by one.”

Despite initial IOF claims that the ambulances were “suspicious” for not using lights, "Israel" later admitted to the killings. It also alleged, without presenting public evidence, that six victims were Hamas members, a claim firmly refuted by the Palestinian Red Crescent.

One person was martyred in an Israeli drone strike that targeted a motorcycle on the outskirts of Aitaroun, southern Lebanon, according to Al Mayadeen's correspondent.

The attack marks yet another violation of the ceasefire agreement by the Israeli occupation, which has repeatedly launched deadly airstrikes across Lebanon. In recent days, "Israel" has intensified its aggression, including a deadly raid on a car in Wadi al-Hujair and a separate fatal attack in Aitaroun that killed two, including a 17-year-old boy who succumbed to his wounds.

In a related context, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, has confirmed as of April 15 that at least 71 civilians, including 14 women and nine children, have been killed in Israeli strikes on Lebanon since the November 27, 2024 ceasefire, "with over 92,000 people still unable to return to home."
Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported casualties after an Israeli airstrike targeted Al-Ayyoubiya School in Jabalia camp, northern Gaza, where displaced Palestinians had taken shelter.

Israeli atrocities and disregard to all human and moral values continue as in yet another horrific scene, Israeli occupation forces committed a massacre in the al-Mawasi area, west of Khan Younis, on Wednesday night. Israeli warplanes deliberately bombed makeshift tents housing displaced Palestinians, setting them ablaze in a fiery inferno.

According to Al Mayadeen's correspondent, at least 10 people were killed and dozens injured in the al-Mawasi massacre, including children left charred.

In a post on Truth Social, US President Donald Trump criticized Harvard University, calling it a “JOKE” and demanding it be stripped of federal funding.

“Harvard can no longer be considered even a decent place of learning, and should not be considered on any list of the World’s Great Universities or Colleges,” Trump wrote.

He further blasted the Ivy League school for hiring what he called “woke, Radical Left, idiots and ‘birdbrains.’”

His stance escalated after Harvard rejected political oversight of its admissions policies, hiring practices, and political orientation.
The Palestinian General Authority of Civil Affairs has confirmed the martyrdom of 20-year-old Musab Hassan Omar Adili, a Palestinian prisoner from the town of Huwara in the Nablus Governorate.

On April 16, the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs released a statement marking Palestinian Prisoners’ Day, emphasizing that "the rise in systematic crimes practiced against Palestinian political detainees has lead to the direct and indirect killing of 63 identified prisoners since the genocide began, 40 of whom were arrested from the occupied Gaza Strip."

"Meanwhile, the occupation continues to withhold the bodies and identities of dozens of other Palestinian political detainees, leaving their families in the dark," the statement added.
Israeli troops will continue to occupy the buffer zones they've established in Gaza even after a resolution to end the conflict is reached, Defence Minister Israel Katz stated on Wednesday amid faltering efforts to renew a ceasefire agreement.

Since the operation was resumed last month, Israeli forces have established a vast "security zone" that extends deep into Gaza, forcing over 2 million Palestinians into increasingly confined areas in the south and along the coast.

"Unlike in the past, the IDF is not evacuating areas that have been cleared and seized," Katz said in a statement following a meeting with military commanders, adding that "tens of percent" of Gaza had been added to the zone.
"The IDF will remain in the security zones as a buffer between the enemy and the communities in any temporary or permanent situation in Gaza - as in Lebanon and Syria."
Donald Trump’s tariffs are expected to reverse the trend of international trade this year, dampening global economic growth, the World Trade Organization has cautioned.

In its most recent overview of the global trading system, the Geneva-based body noted that it had initially projected a robust 2.7% increase in goods trade for the year. However, due to Washington’s current trade strategy, it now forecasts a 0.2% decline.

While presenting these projections, the WTO’s Director-General, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, expressed particular concern over the growing "decoupling" between the US and China, describing it as "a phenomenon that is really worrying to me."
At a plenary session, Russia's Federation Council ratified a law formalizing a comprehensive strategic partnership treaty between Russia and Iran.

Signed during Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s January visit to Moscow, the agreement outlines a legal foundation for deepening long-term cooperation across various sectors.

It designates Russia and Iran as strategic partners and encompasses collaboration in defense, counterterrorism, energy, finance, transport, industry, agriculture, culture, science, and technology.

Around 150 officers in the Israeli Navy have signed a letter addressed to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Security Minister Israel Katz, Knesset members, and military leadership, demanding an immediate halt to the war on Gaza.

Published by Israeli media, the letter criticizes the government's failure to secure the release of 59 captives still held in Gaza, warning of "the dangers faced by soldiers, the harm inflicted on Israelis, and the unequal sharing of burdens." They further emphasized that "security decisions are being made based on illegitimate considerations."

Their message echoed a separate petition signed by 950 active and reserve fighter pilots refusing service, arguing the war on Gaza "serves nothing but narrow personal and political interests" while draining the military.

The Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF), a pro-Palestine advocacy group, has filed a lawsuit in Nepal against an Israeli soldier accused of committing war crimes in Gaza.

In a statement posted on social media platform X on Monday, HRF announced that it had formally requested Nepal to arrest and extradite "Israeli War criminal Amit Nechmya."

According to HRF, Nechmya fled to Nepal from Argentina after the organization initiated legal proceedings against him there.

This case is the latest in a series of legal actions taken by HRF, which has been advocating for justice for Palestinian victims of "Israel’s" genocidal campaign in Gaza.
A federal judge on Monday blocked the deportation of a detained Columbia University protest organizer, Mohsen Mahdawi, a green card holder from Palestine, court records show.

Mahdawi was arrested Monday by the Department of Homeland Security agents at a Vermont immigration office where he expected to be interviewed about finalizing his US citizenship, his attorneys said. His attorneys filed a petition the same day, demanding his immediate release, insisting that his detention violates First Amendment, statutory, and due process rights

Mahdawi’s attorneys argued that the Trump administration is pursuing his removal under the same legal provision used to detain Columbia University alumnus Mahmoud Khalil.

Hours after his arrest, Mahdawi's attorneys filed for a temporary restraining order to halt his transfer. US District Judge William Sessions granted the request, blocking both his removal from Vermont and his deportation, according to the court order.

France’s foreign minister announced that Algeria has ordered 12 French officials to leave the country within 48 hours on Monday, a decision reportedly connected to the recent detention of three Algerian nationals in France.

"I am asking Algerian authorities to abandon these expulsion measures... if the decision to send back our officials is maintained, we will have no other choice but to respond immediately," Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said.

The 12 include some members of the French Interior Ministry, a diplomatic source told Agence France Press (AFP).

Stocks took a sharp dive on Thursday, pushing the S&P 500 back into correction territory and marking its steepest single-day drop since 2020. The decline followed President Donald Trump's announcement of sweeping tariffs, heightening fears of a global trade war that could push the economy into recession.

The broad market index fell 4.84% to close at 5,396.52, recording its worst day since June 2020. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 1,679.39 points, or 3.98%, ending at 40,545.93—its worst session since June 2020. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite plunged 5.97% to 16,550.61, experiencing its biggest drop since March 2020. Losses were widespread, with over 400 S&P 500 stocks declining.

Thursday’s downturn pulled the S&P 500 to its lowest level since before Trump’s election victory in November. The index is now approximately 12% below its record close from February.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu alleged on Wednesday, April 2, that the major expansion of military operations in Gaza aims to exert pressure on H@m@$ to release the remaining captives.

"Last night in the Gaza Strip, we switched gears. The IDF is seizing territory, striking terrorists, and destroying infrastructure. We are also doing something else: We are seizing the Morag Corridor. This will be the second Philadelphi, an additional Philadelphi Corridor. Because we are now dividing the Strip and increasing the pressure step by step, so that they will give us our hostages," Netanyahu insolently declared.

Earlier, Israeli Security Minister Israel Katz announced the expansion of the Israeli war, stating that Israeli troops would advance to clear areas of "terrorists and infrastructure, and capture extensive territory that will be added to the State of Israel’s security areas."

He responded by saying that he does not think that he has to push them adding that he thinks that it is going to happen "but maybe not just yet".
