I haven't watched the show yet, but let me add an extra point to this.
We have been raised since the 20s in the paradigm of, not only "gender equality" (which would imply the recognition of the necessity or tolerance of gender), but "gender abolition", the complete destruction or at the very least, reduction, of gender in our society.
Boys and girls are initially raised in some kind of effort to create a gender-blind world. Blue and pink are for everyone, cards and dolls are for everyone, we agree that we are mentally more or less the same (at least from birth), that all of our relations with each other should be gender neutral (i.e. behave if what you had in front of you was a man), etc.
But after this period of grace, boys become adolescents, hormones make their appearance and these boys and girls have now the capability to receive a different type of political propaganda.
This teenage boys now realize they have been scammed, gender is now being promoted by the own institutions that taught them it was wrong. Women have affirmative action, different treatment by society, they behave completely different from boys despite have been taught to be the opposite case, etc. We don't live now in a post-gender world, but rather in a hypergendered world — so gendered that gender has eaten sex (hence the rise of transgenderism, i.g. non-binarism, and the complete rejection of anything remotely close to biological essentialism, the constructivism of gender represses any biological explaintation).
And not only does he find that gender is even more present than before (even compared to the supposed past "conservative pre-2000 world"), but in this case it is all organized in a revanchist attack against him.
That is the reason there is now identity politics for men (and the right in general). Male Zoomers have been scammed and they will search for anyone that defends them.
