I just watched a documentary on Dunkirk and I had the thought: what if the Germans had pressed their attack on the British/Allied army before the evacuation?
This is the kind of purely military question that doesn't get asked enough about WW2. If the Germans had killed or captured the almost 500,000 strong pocket at Dunkirk, it 1) wouldn't have caused the British to drop out of the war, 2) it would've come at a terrible cost and left the German army vulnerable, 3) it could've easily delayed the fall of France or even left Germany open to defeat in France.
The Dunkirk evacuation, like the Charge of the Light Brigade--or the Battle of Rourke's Drift for that matter--was a classic case of the masterful British ability to spin a humiliating military defeat into a great propaganda victory.
For this reason, it's become a big part of the WW2 legend ("Turning Point in the War," "Hitler's Biggest Blunders," etc). Britain is the land of Shakespeare and it shows in the historic, and I believe underrated, British talent for building a narrative.
But in military-strategic terms, I believe Dunkirk was a non-event. It did not and would not have changed the outcome of the war in either case.

The problem with Keith is he thinks he can endlessly act like a snake and that it will never catch up with him.
I've defended this guy or given him the benefit of the doubt for over a year, even after he spread outright lies about my former organization, groveled and sucked up to scum like Elon Musk, and retweeted every Jew or bad actor who boosted his pathological attacks on Striker. But this year he went further and actually penned a series of essays attacking National Socialism itself, relying on lies like Speer's "Nero Order" story which even mainstream historians like Brendan Simms now dismiss as fiction--then he boosted characters in the Homeland Party just because they agreed with his anti-Nazi takes, even as officials in this party were calling for the ethnic cleansing of Gaza by Israel (while Israeli officials are talking about deporting them all to Ireland, no less!).
I can shrug off lies and insults against the organization I once founded and helped lead, I can also shrug off personal insults or personality conflicts. But betraying core principles, insulting the memory of dead heroes, boosting the big propaganda lies of the worst enemies of our civilization is something I cannot overlook, partly because it reveals a fundamentally weak and untrustworthy character, but more seriously because it creates an opening for creatures like Ezra Levant to gatekeep and subvert the movement.
